  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) I feel like Boni serves more of a purpose. If Saladino is the 3B, connor would be relagated to ph duties only. Not sure that's worth a roster spot, but is have a hard time dfa Connor too. Bonifacio can't hit or field. We don't need a pinch runner. Beckham can't hit. How many chances does he get? Gillaspie had an OPS >.700 last year. Even this year, he's hitting better than every middle infielder except Saladino. I'm sure he's not great in the clubhouse, which shouldn't mean squat except that his team has weak coaching leadershp so maybe it does. I realize the Sox love utility level talent as per spending $6 million + on this year. But that may be part of the problem.
  2. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Time to sell definitely. Shark for sure, DFA Conor, and only move Quintana if we can get a very good MLB ready hitter. I love Quintana but this lineup needs retooled bad. Bonifacio needs to be DFAd first. He can't hit and he can't field. Then beckham although he may be need to be held if they can trade Alexei, which I think they can( not go much). Gillaspie can hit better than the other guys and can play first if they can move Laroche.
  3. The As world championship teams hated each other. Seen too many "good in the clubhouse" guys who couldn't play, and too many giving away of players that could because of the clubhouse. I don't really care if the dugout is comfortable to the manager. Talent is what wins.
  4. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) Well, let's not get carried away. Andy Wilkins OPSed 1200+ for a 3 month stretch last season, at the same age, and also never really failing badly at any level. And he's a doubtful MLBer, at best. i said "Interesting" Some late bloomers are Wilkins, and some are Donaldson
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 12:37 PM) I am guessing Gillaspie and maybe Bonifacio and a picther or two may be on the block Trade Alexei - he may bring back a C+/B- prospect under the change of scenery theory.
  6. Regarding a question of a Castro for Samardzija trade, a righteous member of the Chicago media had this to say. Matt Spiegel ‏@MattSpiegel670 3h3 hours ago @Djeenigenburg That's a rarity: A genuinely interesting, viable, and conversation-worthy Cubs-Sox proposal. I bet Cubs would say no first. I don't live in Chicago so I don't know who these characters are, but, good gracious.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) Reasoning? I think most people would see that trade as a steal for the White Sox. The Reds would probably require a much more elite prospect than Anderson to deal Frazier. It's not like he'd be a rent and he'd be paid way below market during the remaining two years of control. I respect your opinion on things, but I honestly believe you overvalue prospects. He's having a great year, a career year. Knock out this year, and tell me what you have...a good player, who is not particularly great defensively. It's a steal only if you believe that .900 OPS is what you get. I don't. Plus, it's for 2 more years only. And, as you can probably tell from my posts, I don't like trading our best prospects for veterans. I've seen the Sox screw it up far more times than they score and there's no assurance the Vets will play as you think they will. ON a side note, why in the world are the Reds so bad. They have the best closer in MLB, an Ace starter, 3 hitters people love (at least on this board) and the fastest player in the game.
  8. Why are the Sox playing so many Sat afternoon games instead of early evening?
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) You want crazy, southsideshowdown.com threw out this idea recently: 3B Todd Frazier for SS Tim Anderson, RHP Frank Montas, and 3B Trey Michalczewski Pass
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) Then don't trade him. There you go. I think you could get closer in value in a Sale trade; although probably a 1/3 of that value would be in A Ball prospects and sloughing off contracts we don't like (Sox really don't have much of that left).
  11. Well, Coats hit better in high A than he did in A. He hit better in AA (2nd try) than he did in high A In AAA he's below AA, but there's still time He's got a touch of power. Interesting player.
  12. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) I think you can get a tremendous package in return for Quintana. The Seager idea may be a reach, but just about every team in baseball would love Q on their team with his contract. I'm not sure what defines "elite" but Quintana should get you a haul. I think you SHOULD get a great package for Quintana - his skill warrants that - but I don't think you would. He's not known, not great stuff, no hype, bad record....all things that should be irrelevant, but which aren't to buyers who have to deal with fanbases. He's worthy of a Shields return, but I think you'd get a Fister return.
  13. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) Right or wrong the Sox are a very loyal organization. JR, Kenny, Hahn are all in Robin's corner. Now he may resign, there's always that chance but from what I'm hearing he will not be fired. Mark If they can't see how poorly coached this team team is, then they just aren't serious.
  14. I've never seen a manager value baserunners less than Ventura. Constantly calls for steals when the team isn't good at it. I guess he's like the rest of this org. When something fails, keep doing it over and over.
  15. You aren't getting any elite hitting prospects unless you trade Chris Sale.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 05:49 PM) Definitely looking like a DFA candidate, come Sunday. I would think they'll go back to a 7-man pen on Tuesday, and Gillaspie will be gone...well, him or Bonifacio. But my money is on Conor right now. Conor can hit a little - maybe more if he had some coaching. Bonifacio is useless.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) However, they have no room for Colon. We CAN get him. It's a no brainer trade. Even if Colon sucks with the Sox, we have no use for Shark. He's gone after this year and we're going nowhere this year. It's a no risk deal. Colon and Lamb for Shark is a STEAL for the Sox. The Royals are awful at 2B. Why haven't they called him up? We can do better....if Williams/Hahn stop kidding themselves and start making some moves. They should have traded him during the all star break. And then a new coaching staff after the season.
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) Schwarber might be better than Bryant IMO And he is a lefty bat and possibly at a premium position for that kind of offense Righty bats are more scarce than lefty bats. Remains to be seen if Schwarber can catch. That said, I'm okay with trading Sale for a bunch of elite talent. And after we do that, hire their scouts.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) Putnam, Avi Garcia, and Erik Johnson to Milwaukee for Carlos Gomez and Neal Cotts 3 young players for another Melky Neal Cotts? Yikes - that would be bad.
  20. And that is why you trade him before today. this org absolutely refuses to ever sell high.
  21. Ventura back to the Abreu batting second silliness I see.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Is their that much risk in Puig. Even if he's crazy, he's still performing above his contract. Immaturity isn't his only risk. Look at his numbers - they went from great to good to pretty good. Decline, decline. You value him based off of his first year. He's not a great player right now.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) The upside of a Q for Puig package (maybe Sox give up a guy on their side or Dodgers add a name, but primary package being these 2) is going to be with the White Sox, imo. There's no question about that. I said Q for Puig was fair; I just wouldn't do it because of Puig's immaturity. Puig has big upside and big risks. Q is steady.
