QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Davidson might not ever play MLB. You are the one Eaton isn't any good. Quentin was good but always hurt and would never play meaningful games if the White Sox did what you want them to do and always trade for prospects and always be in a perpetual rebuild. I put data out there, not just the data that favors my position. It's called honest debate. Quentin carried us to the division in 2008. He didn't play the last month, but we aren't even in the race but for him. Where did I ever say Eaton wasn't any good? Do you think the people who come up with Q proposals believe Q isn't any good? I want to trade him because a)I think he is good but I think we can get better value in return; and b)His weakness (or area of mediocrity if you prefer)- lack of OF coverage - really hurts this team in this current OF structure where he is surrounded by 2 defensive oafs.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) Dye Contreras Loaiza El Duque There are plenty more heros that can be named, but you are welcome to focus on four that failed over 15 years. It is amusing that you use Davidson as a good thing Who said I see him as a good thing? I included Davidson for full disclosure. Not one on your list acquired by trading young players (although you could use Garcia for that). They were all acquired on the cheap. And you're going back a decade. You could add AJ for a clever signing like Dye I'm all for those. But ravaging our farm for the security blanket of yet another low OBP "star" like Frazier or Cargo, no matter how park-inflated they are, is madness.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) Another ace could put the Astros over the top. Imagine a rotation of Sale/Keuchel/McCullers/McHugh/Fiers That's a World Series winning rotation right there. They'd be dumb to not move Springer in a 1 for 1 swap like that. They'd lose a lot of their O. I wouldn't do it if I were them. They've got an ace. Q would really solidify their rotation. They need pen help too. Let me ask you this - would you take him straight up for Sale?
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 07:15 PM) They would give him up in a straight up deal for Sale. I can guarantee that. Doubt it. They think he's Trout-like. Or he will be.
-
I put this article in the same category as Q for Starlin Castro. Silly stuff. The Astros would never give up Springer.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) I sure wish the Sox had the opportunity to repair Hudsons UCL two times. yea, Williams knew that was going to happen. Jackson Swisher Shark Dunn Those proven veterans. Meanwhile, prospect for prospect gets you: Quentin Eaton Davidson I'll take the latter approach.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) You could tweak the package. Throw in Danish or Adams or something like that. Sure throw in Adams. i.e. ravage the farm for 2 years of Coors Field Cargo. The same kind of move as sending our top pitching prospect for Edwin Jackson...and, yes,, we were supposed to "flip" him for ....Adam Dunn!!! Yikes. This stuff gets the Sox nowhere. Sox don't have a lot in upper minors. Which is why we should keep our players in the lower minors. Trade Q or sign a FA first. Or try to get that 3B prospect

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 12:20 AM) McMahon is one of their top prospects, third baseman. Thanks Well, let's isolate a trade for him. He's obviously blocked. he's the guy we should look at. Montas? E JOhnson? Cargo hit .238 in 2014. You just don't know what you're getting with some of these guys. Expecting 2015 is howling at the moon, especially with the Sox luck with "sluggers" Le Maheiu had OPS in the mid .600s in 2013 and 14. Lucky BAPIP last year.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) How about: Sox get CarGo, LaMahieu and McMahon Rockies get Montas, Erik Johnson, Micah Johnson, Avi and Trey M. No, although I don't know anything about McMahon. LaMaheiu had a career year with a 360 BAPIP. Zero interest in trading good prospects for Coors Field Cargo Much rather trade E Johnson for a young 3B or C and keep Montas, Trey and Micah.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:31 PM) They got more from what I read. They did really well. I think Margot is rule 5 eligible. Anyway, Boston didn't trade away anything that would be a key piece in what I'd want in a Q trade.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) If you believe that the Chicago media, especially ones that are being paid partially by the White Sox, are in the back pocket of the team, an article like this should make the hair on your neck stand up. Why? I would give him up if we could get good at 3 other positions. But I root for the team, and I really don't care who's on it as long as they win.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:49 PM) I always liked the Sox and Pirates as trade partners. Can't remember many - Marte to Sox and then back to Pitt? DeLeon/Bonilla? But they do seem to like small trades...the kind I wish we'd make more of.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Such as Matt Davidson Adam Eaton We don't always make wise trades with them, but they churn out some young players.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) I wouldn't be surprised to see a Sox/Colorado/Diamondbacks 3-way trade. Some good matchups there. I'm not much interested in Colorado, but Arizona always seems to churn out a good bit of talent. And if we must hero worship, I'd rather sign Upton or someone than trade a bunch of prospects for 2 years of Cargo. .750 OPS away from Coors field is nothing elite.
-
QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) Quintana is a lot more valuable than Kimbrel he is, but market value of bullpen stoppers (not necessarily closers) steadily rising. I also wonder if San Diego didn't get more back for Kimbrel than they gave for him.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 06:42 PM) Why give up assets whereas Saladino or resigning Alexei could produce the same if not more than Aybar? I'm all for playing Saladino. It doesn't seem to sit well with anyone else. Aybar is terrible...he should be had for basically zilch, unless the Braves just want to hang on until July, pray he has a good first half. The Braves have been willing to suck up salary as they rebuild...they are a little different than most in that regard. Alexei moving on was the first step in de-clowning this team. He needs to stay away. Let him go, please.
-
See what the Braves want for Aybar. Can't be much.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 05:54 AM) Oh sure, that's what everyone wants to do is switch the entire roster with the Reds because of their plethora of heros. A lot of people certainly seem to think adding a Reds or 2 will turn this mid 70s win team into a World Series contender.

It would be silly for the White Sox to rebuild

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) If people don't want to go watch Sale, Q, and Rodon pitch then that's their prerogative. I'll be out there 15+ times to see those guys though. I'd rather see a winning team. The Sox don't need to tear it down from here - haven't they been rebuilding for the last 3 years anyway? Trading Sale or Q or Eaton is not tearing it down. The Cubs fans didn't freak when they dumped Shark (even when they were light on pitching) instead of paying him what he wanted - they got better. Sometimes you have to take sidesteps. I think they are fully capable of having this ready by 2017. But not by trading our good young players for a Todd Frazier or the like. That will sentence the Sox to 78 win prison. And get solid on defense. If you want a star, sign Upton or someone. An OF of Upton-Trayce-Eaton or Upton-Trayce-Avi/Melky is decidedly better in all aspects than what we saw in 2015. Get the pen to be good instead of average. Internal options should be able to help here. Montas could be a force, even if the end game is for him to start. The value of top relievers, closer or not, has gone up in the last few years. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) Hero worshipping. And that's exactly what the idea that 1 or 2 big FAs or trades will improve this team 10-15 games is. I'm trying to figure out how the Reds, loaded with heroes, suck so badly. Anyway, if you want to sign one of your hero outfielders, find away to move Dunn out, Melky can DH, and shift Eaton to LF and put Trayce in CF. That way we'd have a hero + excellent OF defense.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) Even if he improves his plate recognition his awful defense will still be there. As will his rocket arm. No reason to sell low.
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Would you guys do a Frankie Montas and filler for CarGo, Q for Andrelton Simmons at SS, and sign one of Upton or Cespedes?? No Are you kidding?? No
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) Way too much pitching to give up for someone that won't help your offense much. Not only won't he help the O, he will hurt the O. Even our O. He'd be great if you can rake everywhere else. Listening to the MLB network, some Sox fan suggested Q for Castro. I thought "who is this dingbat?". And then both Bowden and Stern said it would be a bad deal for the Cubs. Many, everyone drinks Theo-aid.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) That seems like an absolute steal for the Yankees. Looks about equal to me. What am I missing on Hicks?
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) Eaton has a pretty average to below average arm in the time I've watched the Sox. He fits best in LF. That's why I advocate trading him. His defense is not good and we got what I believe is a career year offensively out of him. And he clowns it up too much. If I'm hero worshiping, Heywars in right Thompson in center Avi in left. I just don't see Heyward as an elite bat.
