QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) Umm...he's already been up to Chicago this year and faced MLB hitters. yea, he was up for 3 weeks and got 3 appearances and 4 innings. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) Junior Guerra absolutely mowing them down in AAA. Has to be in our starting rotation before the end of the year, let's see what he's got. Amen!

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) The problem is I think if Hahn had his way, he'd go young and rebuild like so many other teams have done the past few years (Astros, Cubs, Twins) but the Sox have always had a mindset under KW (and perhaps by orders of JR) to never go that route. The Sox will always try to put the most competitive team on the field which is good however when you get to the point where they are now and you're dishing out contracts to 35 and 36 year old players and the result is always the same, it's time to try something new. I don't know what Hahn would do, but I don't think he would have done this. It really looked to me like a KW offseason in December 2014. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) LaRoche is getting the veteran treatment where he won't be benched, regardless of what the splits say. He swaps Gillaspie and Beckham for L/R. Please don't ask Robin to do any more platoon type of things. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) No reason for Soto not to be playing one of these games to give you a decent DH Decent may be a stretch for Soto. -

Is Adam Laroche alive? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) Of course. Who the heck would want Putnam or Duke though? Why not add Beckham, Boni and Soto to the package? These are all nobodies in the baseball world. Putman and Duke are capable relievers.

Good to see some of these international players showing up in A Ball.
-
Houston has low averages; but their low average hitters hit homers and doubles. Ours don't. And other than Abreu, our higher average hitters don't either. And considering the Cell as a homer park, it's a major anchor.

Good teams draw fans.

Great night Sale wins End of hero worshiping until next year, if then.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Sale goes out for the 9th, right? I'd put Robertson in, although I doubt he's warmed up.

I think I might have lifted MB before Abreu. Nice Jose

Sox are 4-10 against lefty starters this year.
-
Lower Ks also = lower pitch count.

George Springer struck out 161 times in 2013 playing minor league ball. Of course he hit .300 so that his OPS was over 1. That .235 average is also hindering Davidson....thus his OPS is in the modest .700s, despite homers and walks.

Red Sox looking for cost controlled pitchers
GreenSox replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Avila, Ianetta, Weiters, and Jaso would all be substantial catching upgrades. Two are bad defensively, but they can all hit -- and Flowers is bad at both. Ramirez and Uribe would be great short-term signings to upgrade third. I'm assuming we'll pick up Alexei's option and that he'll bounce back to some degree. I think we need at least one FA even WITH Quintana. Could we get two? Probably. But, in general, FA money is inefficient money whereas sub-market extension money is efficient money. Exchanging one for the other is going to result in some sort of loss. Also, I'll flip the availability thing around: If you trade Quintana, who is available to fill those same holes? $10 mill for Alexei? Sox should have done a short term deal for LF this year. I'd like to see the Sox try Kottras this year, if they're looking for a C who can't defend but can hit. Ianetta is hitting worse than Flowers this year. he's of that age. In general, with such lack of productivity at multiple positions, surprised the Sox haven't tried some in-house alternatives more. Move Laroche out. He's movable, he's decent, but the Sox need more OF and some of them can play DH/1B in rotation I would think. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) So with well reported potential trades, team's fans are usually on opposite end of the spectrum. Here are proposed trades from Blue Jays fans. Shark and LaRoche for Collabello, Pompey and Pentecost. Pompey is #25 on BP's midseason list. Collabello seems like a AAAA player except that he's having an excellent year. Honestly that doesn't seem that bad, esp. as some were satisfied with Shark-Pentecost.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) If that's the return, Q won't be traded. To the Red Sox, anyway, which is a okay by me. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Is Bradley an upgrade over Eaton? Defensively, without question. Offensively, he's much worse based on his major league numbers. If you look at his minor league numbers, it's hard to say because they are inconsistent - but the projection off of his minor league numbers would probably be comparable to Eaton's 2014. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Via trade bud Only if packaged with a pitcher and in lieu of talent returned, which I hope doesn't happen.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) . I still say Q for Swihart and Bradley Jr + 1 arm. White Sox may also need to include a bullpen piece. That is Q for one real prospect. (Bradley is a non prospect at this point) No. -
Honestly I didn't understand the article. Nightengale juxtaposed KW quotes within his own writing and it's hard to tell what who's saying what and what either is saying. Probably not much.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) ok, i need a little help here. when he was talking about july 31 and the no - other will be traded. so it is only stating 1 player and no one else will be traded??? yea, that's kind of how it read, but I don't think it means anything. Kind of a confusing article, with a lot of KW executive VP-speak.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...liams/29738873/ It certainly doesn't sound like Shark has any intention of not pursuing free agency or favoring the Sox in that process. From the Link above>" White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams told USA TODAY Sports. "But then you look at us, and you say, wait a minute, this team will only be held down for so long." I look at the team as currently constructed and think, yea it will be.
