  1. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Wouldn't you like to see him pitching in the playoffs?? Yes - for the White Sox. Otherwise, I wouldn't much care. Boo hoo -Carlton had one of the great seasons in MLB history on a 55 win team. King Felix is looking for his first, what, playoff appearance?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 11:52 PM) Lots of words bandied about like "focus" and "complacency." Gardenhire's name is proffered as a possible solution in terms of cleaning things up on the field of play. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...reak-hits-seven Yep, same ole Sox. Worrying about the clubhouse instead of getting good players in here. Gardenhire would be more of the same. Old techniques. No analysis, no metrics.
  3. Usually, when someone digs up an old thread it makes the fans look foolish. This thread demonstrates the prescience of the White Sox fanbase, as per one of our friends: QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) I think this is more "Throwing in the towel" than rebuilding.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) Well, the odds are 50/50, same as with Drabeck. Any other team could end up going after him, but it's also possible he accepts the assignment. If I were him, though, I'd probably be looking for another organization/better opportunity. Can't imagine an org. would give him a better opportunity than he had here. If Drabek got through, he'll get through. Not that it matters really.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Probably Carroll's replacement at AAA level Isn't that NOesi?
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) Heh, there are much better examples to point out how the Sox are poor talent evaluators than Scott Carroll. He's meant to be a spot starter/mop-up guy/long reliever, and he actually does fine in that role. It's not like the Sox believe he should actually be in the rotation. And if the Sox believe that 1.50 WHIPs and 4.5 K/9 is fine, that goes a long way to diagnosing the problems in this org. They know everything there is about Carroll and they think that that output is major league quality. I suspect we can throw some "good in the clubhouse" nonsense in the mix as well. Noesi, on the other hand, was coming from a different org. and Cooper thought he could improve him. They were wrong, but they took a shot.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) He's been serviceable in the long-relief role. And that's the problem. The Sox waste roster spots for players who are "Serviceable" in limited roles. The talent evaluators actually believe Carroll is a major league player. No wonder the team and org is so untalented.
  8. Who in this org. evaluates Scott Carroll as a major league player? Oh, he's so good in the clubhouse. The clowning never ends.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) Not including Noesi getting DFA'd or Sanchez going back to Charlotte, I think someone is going soon. IMO, Steverson and Boston are most likely. It's a cosmetic move, but unless they are turning over a good percentage of the roster or firing Hahn and KW, any move in reality would be the same. Well sure, make sure to dump the only non-insider. Can't blame the heroes.
  10. In 2011, Williams had one of the best deadline assets in baseball to trade, and 4 years later that's turned into into a somewhat promising AA pitcher and a back of the bullpen arm. Magic.
  11. The problem with trading Sale is that no team will pay what he's worth; and, honestly, I'm not sure that any team has the prospects that equal his worth. Dodgers maybe- they have 2 top 10s I think. Not the Cubs anymore; not the Astros at all. Certainly not Boston with all of that foolsgold in that organization.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) Well no, there's no need for a full "Salary dump", I wouldn't trade him unless I got something useful back in return for him (unless their financials are looking worse for next year than I would guess they are). However, I would absolutely be up for moving him if I could get a positive contributing player back. Agree - he should be on the block. The problem will be 4 year contract, so I just don't see the return.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 11:49 AM) Robertson has had 7 total save opportunities in the last month. Melancon who we faced last night has had 13. Yes he makes Robin's job easier but what's the point of having an expensive top flight closer if you have 7 save opportunities in a month? There isn't on this team. But no need to salary dump him either. It was a premature signing, in retrospect, but at least he's pitching well.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) Lol dude, you have been grilling him since his one bad start. Calm down. He was really really good in the 3-4 starts before that. he had a 1.5 WHIP prior to his last start. He's using service time for this going nowhere team.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Noesi- DFA Danks - goes the Edwin Jackson route Johnson - takes Danks place Send down Rodon while we're at it.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) Phegley had no future with the organization, neither did Ravelo because of Abreu and LaRoche. Only real value they gave up in my opinion is Semien and he has 21 errors in 63 games. Sox had and still might have intentions of extending Shark. What does that mean "he had no future with this organization?" Phegley and Semien would be our 3rd and 4th best hitters on this team, limited as they are. Even if Ravelo is blocked, you trade him for value, not a 1 year rent. The Sox get shut out by the likes of Charlie Morton, so I'm of the mind that they could find room for guys who can hit. As for Williams, his moves from Quentin trade 1 until whenever Hahn took over were abysmal, with only an exception or two. And most of the moves this winter were of the KW variety. So I can't blame solely Hahn.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Noesi? Flowers? Parent? Steverson? Robin? Buddy Bell? ....Chris Sale? Surely something to make sure everyone else knows that this isn't okay, and they aren't safe either. No. They need to make an example out of everyone. They need to clean house.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) All great moves at the time in my opinion. They just haven't performed to career numbers. I can't say that trading 4 young players for a rent, and wasting the opportunity of not selling a single player high were great moves. Hahn's one confirmed great move was the Peavy trade, and in that case, there was a tradeable commodity and KW was involved. I have no problem giving him a chance without Williams. But this org. needs a real cleansing.
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) No worries, Steverson will fix the hitters. I don't think it's a matter of the hitting coach. It's a matter of lack of concentration caused by lack of accountability. Admittedly, I am soft on Steverson because he preaches a good approach and he's the only non-insider on this staff. Can someone remind me again why Noesi is on this major league staff?
  20. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) SERIOUS QUESTION FOR EVERYONE At what point do you start rooting for the no hitter? I know that ?? How about NEVER
  21. Send him down. He didn't have command in Charlotte and he doesn't have it here.
  22. NL team...maybe we'll have better luck. Regardless this should give the Pirates good opportunity to scout our bullpen.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Tyler Kolek went #2 to Miami. Would they have taken Aiken? Probably Kolek. Miami likely would have taken Aiken.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) People don't like trading prospects for hitters because too many people think guys like Montas will be stars, when, in reality, the odds are still against him. Or maybe it's because the hitters the Sox sign or trade for suddenly can't hit.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) If we're determined to compete next year somehow, then trading Montas and Danish almost seems like something we must do because otherwise there are just that many gaping holes, but even then it seems like that's not nearly enough. Trade them for what? More veterans? For hitting prospects of equal ability? The latter is fine by me, but the Sox had the best hitter in the draft fall right in their lap and they passed him on. If one decries the Shark trade (as I also do) it's tough to trade the few young players we have. 2017 is a better target, just like 2016 was 6 months ago There have been good young players available for players like Shark and middle relievers. The Sox need to find a couple.
