  1. Q and Sale should be split in the rotation- I don't know why they aren't. And I know it's not Carroll's fault, but none of the guys in Charlotte are better than him? The problem with this org in trading is that they refuse to sell high. They got a gift last year with the 32 yo SS off of a near career year and they refused to pull the trigger.
  2. They also lead the majors in homers, and by a mile. (on a side note -- a certain other team is tied for 28th).
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 23, 2015 -> 12:18 AM) People hate his mechanics and delivery and size, but the fact of the matter is he led the NCAA in K's and was dominating out there all year long. Sox have had a good recent history with funky pitchers that work. One: Sale. And he is tall and his delivery isn't nearly as funky and he wasn't as hard used. I can see it if we were getting a bargain -- picking 15th or something. The Sox haven't drafted a developed college hitter* with its #1 choice since Beckham. And he was rushed of course, but at least he's still in the game. *Mitchell was high-school raw when drafted.
  4. The Sox have 4 starters throwing very well in Charlotte call one or two of them up
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2015 -> 10:03 AM) Those are reasons for me why I'd actually like to see them do it. The team is quite good at this exact path. Well you have a point there...it's the one development technique they do well.
  6. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 21, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Keith Law has the White Sox taking Fulmer. http://chicago.suntimes.com/baseball/7/71/...g-draft-insider Pass. Bad mechanics, hard used.
  7. Laroche was a good signing - only 2 years, he can play defense, and didn't give up a draft choice. Melky on the other hand... Could have used that Shark package (or some of it) and brought and outfielder or 2 in here.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2015 -> 06:13 AM) It has been a long time but Crede and Rowand were pretty good. Crede realy had just blossomed. He was hitting over .300 with 30 homer gold glove defense when his back gave out in September of 2006. As far as rushed, I don't know if guys are really all that rushed. If the Sox send guys down like Josh Fields in 2008, Saladino and Sanchez this spring, many here complain. But something is wrong. But hitters leaving the organization going on to others and being really successful also is very rare, so it seems to be talent evaluation. That's true but the real problem with rushing isn't that they don't produce in the ML when first up - it's that they don't produce in the ML and develop bad habits to try to compensate their weaknesses while not producing. Johnson was rushed, but he didn't seem to develop bad habits so he should be okay; I think Rodon is being rushed - we'll see; Beckham was rushed. I think they knew that Semien could hit- just willing to trade him to rent Shark for whatever reason. And, yes, talent is no doubt the biggest issue.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) If Semien's legitimately an 800+ OPS guy at even 2B (compared to SS), it's going to hurt, because Johnson and Sanchez are unlikely to come remotely close to that. If he's more of a 675-725ish guy (typical for that position now, unless you're Altuve/Cano/Kinsler/Kipnis), it won't quite be the end of the world because his defensive shortcomings will largely erode his positive value. Of course, it also is dependent on what we eventually get in return for Samardzija. That's how it stacks up. Of course if he is an 800+ OPS guy, you could still play him in the outfield and exceed most of what we have there. I'm not convinced the Sox will trade off assets even if we're realistically out of it unless our record is terrible, which I doubt it will be.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 24m24 minutes ago #Astros have scouted Jeff Samardzija, who may become available at the deadline: http://sbnation.com/e/8390668?utm_campaign..._source=twitter … See where we are in 6 weeks. If playoffs is a longshot then, we can make some major moves toward 2016 by moving both him and Alexei.
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 19, 2015 -> 10:54 PM) Sox need a catcher in the worst way. Not another one who can't hit, though.
  12. Another solid start from Junior Guerra. I hope he gets a shot if we need 5th starter help.
  13. Move him back to catcher. Can't do any worse.
  14. Garcia will get his homers. But he's a much better hitter when not shooting for homers. He goes the other way a lot, can cover a lot of area of the plate.
  15. Micah showed a pretty good plate approach with the Sox. I would have both he and Sanchez up.
  16. Of course this one shouldn't have been 1 run. Credit to Oak, I guess for keeping it that close. Sox must have the worst yield in baseball.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:31 PM) Did you just combine Jerry Owens & Jared Mitchell into some sort of super-flop prospect?
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) Putting us back in 2007 mode. Seems we waited 7-10 days too late to bring up Sanchez...cold offensively now. LOL hardly. The opposite, as a matter of fact. Despite a terrible season, Ozzie STILL wouldn't play the prospects. They wouldn't even do it in September. Unless you consider Jerry Mitchell a prospect. He was playing the utility players, and the org guys, the slap hitters, the lungers. I think Gio sat on the bench the entire month of September. I don't know that he even warmed up.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) I think I'm one of the few that would like to see the younger guys get some shots this year. I think its time to build while we still have Abreu, Sale and Q under control. Avasail coming around is a bonus as well. I'd like to deal Alexei as part of this. I agree with all of this. Certainly if Rodon can be up here, they can find you players in lieu of Carroll, Shuck, Bonifacio, etc. or some combination thereof.
  20. Another problem with this team is that there are just too many bad players on it...like Carroll. They cut the guy in December. Honestly is there no one in Charlotte who can pitch?
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2015 -> 10:47 PM) I will never understand why they rushed him this year. He was struggling to throw strikes in a few of his Charlotte outings (one exhibition included) This org is simply dreadful at evaluating and developing players. I doubt it changes with Williams and Bell running the show in perpetuity.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) IN may the Sox are 2nd in the AL in batting average and 11th in runs scored. A huge improvement. Also a huge gap. Bottom tier in runs scored when you're 2nd in batting in a home run park suggests a problem.
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 15, 2015 -> 08:27 AM) College pitcher. Jay, Funkhouser, Fulmer. No
  24. Will it get appreciably better at this point in his career? The mistake was not having him in Charlotte at the beginning of the year. Sanchez needs to play every day. None of this sit behind Bonifacio stuff, whom they put in the 2 hole the other night .
  25. Someone who has a good approach to hitting and can hit, please.
