QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) Radio guys in this town know nothing about the White Sox system. I think White Sox are somewhere between like 16-23 as far as systems go. I agree. But 3 in the top 65 isn't bad. Law had us 10-15 last January.

Who the heck is Darrell Horowitz? I trust he's not a legitimate member of Chicago's media.
-
They'll probably DFA him. If they do...why not?
-
Nieto would be in the White Sox top 100. Keep him around for a couple of more years...see how he does. Disappointing this year, at least offensively. 3 prospects in the top 65 is pretty strong improvement. And that doesn't include the 2 ML ready Johnsons. Keep on building.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) Odd that the Dodgers would trade for another outfielder when they have so many already. Latos makes sense but Morse? They took that terrible contract instead of giving better prospects and to get the comp balance pick. Morse has negative value: his contract cost exceeds his playing value (by a lot)....like being underwater on a car note. Other negative value players: Adam Laroche, Starlin Castro

White Sox will be buyers at the deadline

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:11 AM) It really is remarkable that they entered this road trip 42-50, and sonofab****, they might just come home 50-50 and in it for the duration. Playing what-if, they could easily have gone 3-3 instead of 1-5 on that post all star game homestand. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) You're overvaluing him by a bit. The only way he's top 100 is if he has a Billy Hamilton-esque ability to steal 75+ bags. All signs as he has advanced to the AA/AAA level is that he's probably closer to a 30-45 type. The other problem is Hamilton was going to get a lot of his value defensively, but Micah's giving up a lot of WAR points so it has to be made up offensively, just like with Avi. Not at all. Hamilton had a sub .700 OPS in AAA ball. Micah is in the mid .800s. His hit tool has blossomed big time this year. i wouldn't mind trading him for a similar level 3B prospect. But not for some Cargo who can't hit lefties.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) I like the idea of bringing up Kottaras. Light a fire under LaRoche by letting Soto DH some vs LHP. Plus, you don't really need another infielder to replace Bonifacio given that Saladino and Sanchez can both play 2B/SS/3B. Bonifacio's flexibility was more necessary back when Gillaspie and Johnson were on the roster. Of course, they could let Soto DH some. He's our 2nd to best hitter.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) Rodon is only on pace for around 160 innings. He should not be really be too restricted the rest of the way. If we make the playoffs, we have an incredibly strong front 3 and a 4th starter isn't really needed in the playoffs. Does that include his minor league innings?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) Is something wrong with Jennings? No there isn't. He also had an effective long relief outing a week or so ago. Thatcher's strictly situational. Do not need. BTW, our bullpen's pretty good.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 07:52 AM) Right now, being that the overwhelming odds are against the White Sox winning the division, they shouldn't be sending away top prospects for bats unless those bats are going to be around for a while. I am not a big fan of CarGo. Of course he is hot right now, but he will cool off, and as was stated above, if you don't like LaRoche vs. LHP, you aren't going to like CarGo. Only take CarGo if you give up no top 7 or 8 prospects. For some reason, I don't think the Rockies would go for that. Agree 100% QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) *starts Jay Bruce chant* Prefer him to Cargo, but same issue really: Sox aren't in a position to trade top prospects and neither he nor Cargo are worth top prospects.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:19 AM) I think they are going to let Micah tear up Charlotte some more and trade him in the offseason. Well I agree with you here. Pity, really. He's easily a top 100 prospect and just the kind the Sox will undervalue. Infield is showing promise, but still no sense that either Saladino or Sanchez are major league starter quality in the long term. I could see another trade Chris Young keep Anderson situation
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) Where is Micah going to play? He can play some 2nd; play some DH. What's the downside? Lose a month of defensive development - okay, but it's worth the upside of having a good hitter on board who can actually steal a base (in contrast to Bonifacio who was inept at it).
-
How many utility infielders to Cooper/Ventura need? Beckham is enough. Bring up Micah. the problem with Jones is that he has exactly TWO strikeouts in 14 innings of work.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) Why in the world do you think CarGo is going to cost a boatload of prospects? A)just going by what people suggest to pay hereon; and b)when have the Sox NOT paid a boatload of prospects for a player like that? Re the merits of getting Cargo a)Lemon is right about Adams; b)Coors field c)30 years old

QUOTE (kwill @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:40 PM) I know everybody is talking about adding another bat but one quick fix would be bring up Erik Johnson up and putting Danks in the pen. Danks will probably not average a 4.50 ERA the rest of the way. Lets see if Johnson can give us something better out of the 5th slot. That's a good idea. And bringing up the other Johnson, Micah, needs to be done as well. We could improve by using what we have. No heroes, though, so many won't be happy.

QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) My train of thought as well. I could see Avi, Montas, EJ, and maybe someone like Jaye. I wouldn't even do that. Sox don't even need Ross. And who plays RF next year after trading our RF for this rent of Upton and his mighty .759 OPS.
-
Not trading Shark is what they should do. It's the right balance between going for it when the chances aren't great, and missing the opportunity to get something for him. They'll still get the comp pick to help the balance. Trading for rents would be inane, unless you can get a bat for a #20 prospect like the Angels did.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) What are you talking about? The Royals dealt two top 3 prospects and the Blue Jays dealt one. Manae is #3, depending on the list. I guess some would consider Hoffman a top 3, but that's debatable; it was also for FOUR years of Tulo., not for .5-1.5 years of rent-a-vet.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:48 PM) Hoffman would have been selected 3rd if not for the TJ surgery. He's a top 25-30 talent, with the ability to be a frontline ace. Even though Tim Anderson's 48th and Montas is 63rd, there might not be more than a handful of GM's in the game who wouldn't choose Hoffman over both those two. Fulmer vs. Hoffman is a much more interesting conversation, though. You are way over-rating Hoffman. A ton of GMs would choose Anderson over Hoffman. Yea, some GMs might have picked him 3rd (cough - KW -cough) because he throws hard, but his fastball needs movement. He has a long way to go before showing he's a front-line ace. He didn't have ace-like numbers in A ball. Regardless, 1/2 a year of Tulo, not to mention the 4 years they get, is far more valuable than 1/2 a year of Justin Upton. People want one of these Cargos or Jay Bruce? Erik Johnson and Montas. Move on.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Exactly, Sox have the pitching prospects that teams could be looking for and they have enough guys that are/could be close in case of injury (Beck, Jaye, Drabek). Would you guys do Avi, Montas, Anderson, and Erik Johnson for Ross and Upton? I think I would. Oh come on. A top 25 prospect, another top 100, our starting RF and a ML ready starter?....for good pitcher and rent of a good (not great) hitter? Upton has a .759 OPS and is a rent. Ross would be a good pitcher for us, but we don't need a pitcher right now. His hype exceeds his results. Neither Cueto and Tulo required a single top 50 prospect. Yet, somehow, we should pay far more for inferior players.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) After reading about KC's trade ... wouldn't Zobrist have been a good guy for the Sox to acquire? He draws walks and could have played 2B and DH'ed if LaRoche continues to stink. Sox may not have been able to beat KC's offer I guess. No a rent of Zobrist for hopes of a 1 game playoff would not have been a good acquisition. Tulo, who cost about the same, is far superior, younger, and signed for longer, would have been better.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) The Sox have a chance to add Puig to a stable of reliable, ready to play younger players. This is a deal that could make them. To be able to build around Abreu/Puig on offense and Sale/Samarj/Rodon/Fulmer on the mound That's star power Time to deal Quintana, Puig, and any two prospect(s) not named Rodon, Anderson, or Fulmer for Puig and Guerrero. I would not trade Quintana and 2 top prospects for Puig. That's an overpay. Guerrero has little value at all....a prospect in the Sox #20 range. Straight up or not at all. And I don't trust Puig anyway. Fulmer is in A ball. Samardzija is a workhorse but his peripherals are questionable for long term deal.
-
There was no reason to send Samardzija out for the 9th. Ventura/Cooper beat the living hell out of these starters.
-
Danish has had an awful year. There hasn't been a team top 3 prospect dealt the entire trade-season....let's be sure to trade ours, Williams-style.
