  1. The bench should have been Bonifacio or beckham....not both. And shuck is no different than junior danks. No help at all in the bench. Get Sanchez up here and let Micah play some OF or send him down. And they cut Carroll at the end of last year and suddenly he's the first guy they call up.

  3. Shuck is not a major league hitter. But he can pinch run and that's what's important on a White Sox bench.
  4. Robin would wait til it's 7-6 before making a move
  5. Where has Robinson Leyer been?
  6. I realize the Sox as an organization have an enduring love for veteran utility players, to let Bonifacio block Sanchez would be beyond belief. Should Gillespie and Micah be doing some occasional outfield work anyway?
  7. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 2, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) Sorry, I seem to like Rick Hahn's moves when they are initially completed, but he bares a helluva lot of responsibility for this mess. Shark is terrible, Gillaspie is terrible, Flowers is terrible, Danks & Noesi suck, the bench stinks, Rodon is being handled horribly, and this might be the worst coaching staff in baseball. KW's fingerprints were all over most of the moves, especially the rent of shark.
  8. Look at those hitters in the 9th. That is not a major league lineup (but let's trade young players for more rents, kW). Sox haven't had a real hitter on the bench in a decade. Pinch runners, utility players....everything but a decent bat. Oh and call up Sanchez
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) I actually think Hahn should start over while a completely new, non-Sox related major league staff. Because it's going to be a lot easier to change the coaches than the players. If they are so worried about Sale and Rodon going down to elbow surgery they tell Tyler not to call for sliders in key situations...this team wont ever go anywhere. At best, both would be like Francisco Liriano post-surgery with that type of philosophy. I agree that there is way too much insiderism in this organization. But what you suggest would also require getting rid of Williams because he's the one who has loaded the boat with insiders. Is that really true? They aren't calling or sliders from those 2? They are worried about a Rodon injury? And what is Sale w/o a slider?
  10. Still trying to figure out why our bullpen, the only bright spot on this team, isn't used BEFORE we're out of a game. I guess it's been overworked with all of the off days. I guess it's Robin, but I don't really know who's running this team. Cooper is a Williams mole, Williams' fingerprints were all over the offseason.
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) The guy I would like is Carson Fulmer, and it will definitely be close if he makes it to the Sox's pick. None of the hitters really wow me at all - as far as college hitters. And I have ZERO faith in the Sox taking a high school bat and developing him into an MLB bat, so to me it becomes take the BPA between a college arm and a high school arm. And I think it Fulmer is the BPA. He is having a terrific year in the SEC and has electric stuff. Many worry about his size and durability, but I have still yet to see any study (maybe there is one, I honestly have no idea) that finds any correlation or causation between a pitcher's size and his ability to stay healthy. There just seems to be an assumption that if you are not 6'3" and 220, you are destined for the bullpen because you aren't built like the prototypical pitcher. The problem is his delivery. He makes Sale look smooth. Are there no quality college bats available at this pick that wouldn't be a reach?
  12. I don't hold Ventura responsible because player X or player Y has a bad game. I hold him responsible for managerial decisions and overall leadership. As for Shark, yet another in the long, largely ugly, list of Kenny Williams' veteran "ace starters" he has to go out and trade young players to get (or order Hahn to do it), coupled with a little dab of "we'll show those cubbies".
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) am i wrong in thinking, that Mitchell should be in that group??? Mitchell already fell through the floor.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150427 Just Charlotte and Birmingham tonight. Beck and Jaye. Myles Jaye looking good. He needs a big year.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) I would bet anything Hahn wouldn't do that. He would be insane to do that. Salary works both ways. Yes, you should ignore salary and cut the player if the player simply can't play. But you don't give the player away for nothing if he's producing just because he's overpaid. The Sox aren't exactly teeming in starters. Okay, we may have 6 now that we brought (rushed?) Rodon up. 6 isn't much cusion. And if Danks repeats Sunday's performance a few times, they might be able to trade him for something if they're out of it in July.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) Would you take a chance with him? I know for one I wanted him a couple off seasons ago. No Enough with terrible veterans.
  17. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) Too early, I know, but not too early to know there are some holes that need a fillin'. What say you? I say you can't force things. Paying out the wazzu for one hero, much less loading up with 35 year old "proven" veterans, won't make the difference. Some of the moves over the winter were premature. The foundation isn't complete. As for Lucroy, his offense is excellent...for a catcher. But you pay a ridiculous premium for that offense from a catcher. Much better to accept catcher as an offensive hole, and use the resources to improve other areas that can be improved more efficiently.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) It makes sense but I hate it. Especially that early. Let Melky hit. Runners are speedy. I can't see much sense in ordering automatic outs in front of Abreu, especially when the 2 hole hitter is the 2nd to best hitter. Ventura is managing scared.
  19. Robin Ventura has lost his mind. How in the world do you bunt there. You give an automatic out to your 2nd to best hitter so Abreu can single them in? Madness
  20. Maybe shake up the lineup a bit
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Not ready. Bad situation to bring him in. Get his ass back to Charlotte for 8 starts, and then talk. And Robin stinks. +1000 on all counts.
  22. My thoughts are a)I don't know why the braintrust in the dugout picked a high leverage situation for his first appearance. b)I don't know why the Sox called him up anyway considering his poor last outing in Charlotte and to just use in the bullpen.
  23. No, but you have to give young players a chance. And if this mess doesn't straighten out in 2 months, Sanchez should replace Alexei.
  24. Is there a reason he's left in for a full 94 pitches to throw softballs?
