If you're sending out a mass PM, I'd like to be included. But if you have to do these individually, then please don't. I'm sure you're busy enough.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 08:45 AM) Probably, but if it was a tight call with a trade, and the team was 54-54, I could see it being a factor. Enough people still whine about the White Flag trade. Yea and if they moved Alexei, "we traded an all -star when only 3 games out of the playoffs." Hahn may not care, but those who must approve his trades will.
-
So flailing at this wild card would preclude trading Alexei or Danks. But Dunn and De Aza could still go - and if we can get a pitching prospect our 2, could help our bullpen too.

It's good to beat the hell out of the Twins.

Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Nope, the Sox never, never ever trade within the division. Avisail Garcia is a figment of your imagination. And Detroit got exactly whom from us????? And, yes we sent a couple of players to the Twins 2 years ago; and a couple to the Royals several years ago . Prospects/utility players. The Sox reluctance to trade within the division has been reported. The lack of trades within the division over the years substantiates it as well. Not a big deal this year, as the match-ups appear to be NY and Seattle. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) This makes me like our chance of getting rid of Danks. I just get the feeling we don't want to move Danks and a few others.

The Sox really need to move some of these players next week. De Aza and Dunn can helps some teams offensively. Beckham is bad, but not in comparison to Brian Roberts. Clear out some riff raff and get something - As and AAs are fine. We will bring up the kids anyway in September. But the Sox are sentimental and I'm not sure how much they want to clear the decks. The org is still stuck on that "don't trade in division" (hopefully not the AL, like Scheuler was) silly stuff too. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) This is very intriguing; A left handed power bat to hit behind Abreu. I hope that they find a way to get him in the line up, and see how he adjusts to MLB pitching. I'd really love to know what has caused his sudden emergence as a really serious hitter. He was highly regarded out of college, and did well the first 3 minor league seasons, but did "hit a wall" last year at AAA. There have been comparisons to Jim Thome, as far back as 3 or 4 years ago. He has always been very strong, but has apparently figured a few things out, recently. Does anyone have any insight into what is happening with him? What we don't know are things like bat speed. We could get some insight if I suppose I would check and see how much of this hitting is against real ML prospect and how much against AAAA pitchers, of which AAA is replete. Still enough I'd think to comfortably move Dunn, which I have a hard time understanding why a team wouldn't offer a middle level prospect for.
-
I remember a AA first baseman who raked a few years ago - Williams traded him for a mediocre middle reliever. Brandon Allen never turned out to be much, but had good stats (although a higher K rate than Ravelo). Anyway, looks like a great prospect. Take our time with him. We can eventually try to do a position change; or trade him for another team's equivalent prospect at a different position.
-
If your odds are 3.7%, it's pretty obvious what side of the buy/sell you should be on.
-
Some pretty rough bullpen work in the minors. Barons giving up 5 in the 9th. Beck - 7 IP, 4H, 0 Runs, 1K
-
And 6 teams ahead of us.
-
Eaton's been fresh air and a big upgrade since opening day. As has the rejuvenated Gillaspie. Now we need 3 more like them + power hitter to join Abreu.
-
The Indians got a promising AA pitcher named Corey Kluber for 32 year old Jake Westbrook and his $11 mill annual salary, so I would think we could get a promising pitcher or 2 for danks. Not looking for "ML ready" for Danks and the like.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) If Noesi keeps fairly consistent do you think he is the #5 next year? I'm fine with him as a 5, especially as how thin pitching is in this organization.
-
That was a nice K pitch out of Noesi. And Beckham just hit one hard. 2 days in a row he has hit a ball hard.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) There has been nothing on Alexei being traded. There are not many teams in contention with a need at SS, so I think he ends the season on the Sox. Mariners. Gives them a right handed hitter they need too. There's really been nothing on any Sox player other than vague rumors.

The Pirates have just recalled Brent Morel. Beckham can play 3rd. We FINALLY have a spot where Beckham would be a big upgrade. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 04:13 PM) Thanks, Flowers. May you be dfa'd soon I mean what the hell was that?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) You have to love having a legitimate ace (Sale) and a legitimate #2 starter (Quintana) locked up to long term below market value deals. If Rodon comes close to living up to the hype we will have 3 fantastic pieces to the rotation that are all relatively cheap for through at least 2019. Sox have some key pieces who are still young. But they need about 3 more starters besides Rodon, a couple of infielders, 2 outfielders, a catcher, and a couple of bullpen pitchers better than they have now. Some answers may be in the minors, they could sign a couple of free agents, and they could probably upgrade 2-3 positions if they trade Danks and Alexei. But this is a 75 win team right now.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Not really..and they have Franklin playing 2B at AAA. But a trade along the lines of Borchard/Matt Thornton...we might as well include Mitchell so there are two first-rounders going, and, what the heck, K.Walker, so we can clear the decks on 3 drafts. That's the kind of trade you make in the offseason or with a fellow dismal team. Mariners need immediate help, not a flyer. The Sox need a talent infusion, particularly on the mound, that won't be fixed by signing a couple of free agents.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) Hawk saying Trout does not have good plate coverage put the pipe down. He must have been talking about the old days - Steve Trout

Gillaspie should hit 2nd. But there's some lefty/right thing about that that Ventura doesn't like.

It's hard to figure Hahn. He dumped Thornton quickly for a rule 5 eligible. But he really seemed to hold out for the best offer with Peavy (worked, but had to find someone who wasn't in the market for Peavy in order to get what they thought was a top prospect) and Rios (not so much).
