7/10 Campfire Milkshakes vs. Twinkies Straight DH 1:10PM CT
GreenSox replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in 2024 Season in Review
Can someone give Pedro a lesson non the concept of pinch hitting. The only pinch hitters he used was for one of our better hitters. Julks sits again - he's still better than the bottom of this order. Soroka is 0-10; he's been bad, but he doesn't deserve that. -
How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?

Fedde should have a significantly higher value than Eflin. -

Leasure was getting killed in AAA. Yet here he is, 2nd game in a row with a lead on the line late in the game. -

2 of their 5-10s, and the price is rising each day. -
GMs skeptical teams meet price for Robert

I agree and he spent in free agency last time. JR’s problem is that he is overly loyal to non-performers. -
I said, based on the way he has played as a pro. Is lack of power an aspect?
-
Based on his first year as a pro, were they wrong?
-
I think he’s fine when speaking in his regular voice. But as soon as he inflects his voice, he sounds like a 12 year old cartoon character: “Hey Scooby.”

The Y2Jimmy 5 Round Mock, per Law and Kiley Sox are rarely aligned with Law or other public rankings. But Kiley would probably like the Sox' draft. But I would think it gives an indication of whether you have to pay guys overslot or not. 1 (5). Griffin #10, #7 2 (43). Bateman #51, #62 2b (68) Oakie #97, #44 3 (78) Messina UR, #56 4 (107) Foley UR, #101 5 (140) Hurd UR, #142

7/8 Sox vs Twins, time for Flexual Healing
GreenSox replied to Heads22's topic in 2024 Season in Review
Well, one could reasonably ask Getzwhy in the world they waited to the end of the season to fire the obvious incompetent. I’ve believed all along that they’re not gonna fire him until season’s end. But my fear is that they actually don’t think he is an idiot and that they move him upstairs. He’s just tanking this team. Wrong decision after wrong decision. -

The refusal to fire Grifol really just send a message to the the fans and the team that they just don’t care. The idea that “it’s not Grifol’s fault that the team is bad” just doesn’t get it. -
They can have Sheets, Eloy and Benintendi; we'll take a bag of balls to be named later.
-
I take it that the OF from A&M is a grade below the the top 4 college hitters?
-
This sounds like the most logical explanation. There's no reason to trade him anyway; won't get much and it will cost more to sign someone for next season.
-
The other side of Miller as a headliner is that we could have just drafted him ourselves last year, right? It's annoying that we have to trade for what we easily could have had. And in the end, is his upside the equal of Robert's? Ideally, by taking more risk and deferring the reward, you should get more upside than what you are trading away. Thus, the importance of careful evaluation of secondary pieces.
-
Wilson hasn't been consistent, but he's decidedly better than Anderson or Kuhl. I can only figure that they don't want to trade Wilson, but do have hopes of moving anderson or Kuhl (floundering as those hopes may be). Or they think they can fix Wilson. It doesn't amount to a whole lot this year, but the Sox have not done a great job sifting through these veteran relievers. Cast offs Tim Hill and Chavez are pitching well with contenders.
-
That should be doable; it leaves them their #1 guy and #3 or #4. Just scout the heck out of their (and others) systems for the secondary pieces. But Dombrowski really hasn't traded many prospects as GM of the Phillies, so we'll see. But Getz needs to start moving. The supply will increase in a week (especially with pitchers). Robert and Crochet will probably still be atop the available players, but there will be a lot of others to choose from. Toronto, Tampa, Washington, Detroit, Angels, Pitt, Cincy Texas (per this morning's article) won't go scorched earth, but will sell in varying degrees.
-
Grab Abel too as a throw-in. See what Bannister can do with him. I know he was a ranked prospect, and “throw in” may be hyperbolic, but he’s dropping like a rock
-
How can they not? Yet they won't until season's end.

Elias didn't shutdown trade of Holliday
GreenSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
That would be nice. But an issue with Robert to Seattle is that Seattle has a huge strikeout problem, and Robert adds to it . -
No team wants to. And few will. Sox evaluators really need to know these farms of possible purchasers.
