  1. Accountability may be a problem.
  2. Pedro made sure that Lynn got his 100 pitches in. That was smart; that is good.
  3. I mean, yea, please go ahead and do this.
  4. Neither did his 2nd and part of the 4th that he pitched. Unfortunately, he and his 100 pitches are the story tonight.
  5. If nothing else, it's nice to have a good score to look at on the right side of the page for the next day or 2.
  6. Taylor was a reach and he signs for full slot. Gonzalez was picked around where projected, and he goes way underslot. Weird.
  7. LOL Fair enough. I like Bowden; oh I don't know how accurate he is. I just think he's interesting to listen to.
  8. Keener looked somewhat like a reach and also a possible reliever.
  9. Just looking at the money, picks 6, 8 and 10 were punted: that's a slot value of $684,900. If I just knock of 100K to pay those 3 picks (pretty conservative as they are all 4 year players) that leaves $584,900. In addition, it seems to me that picks 2 and 3 are prime for under-slot. Harris is a small overslot. Everyone else seems about right. Wolkow's slot at 7 is $248,300. That plus the $584,900 = $833,200 which is about the slot for pick 84; that sum I would think is more than enough to please Wolkow. It looks like they might have some funds left over if Wolkow signs for less and #2 and #3 go underslot; not sure who in 11-20 would need overslot to sign; maybe some of the JC guys.
  10. Hinch is a GM's manager; which is great if the GM knows what he's doing. What Hahn needs (but does not want) is an independent manager who knows more than he does and who can advise him, instead of vice-versa. JR was right to bring in one of those types, but TLR was the wrong guy (age, character, obsolete thinking, long-time absence from the dugout).
  11. The Astros won the 2022 WS with the catcher position below .600 OPS. If Zavala is excelling defensively, then I'd say catcher is behind for sure 2b, and RF and perhaps SS and 3B in positions of need. Now the lack of minor league depth is another issue. I think 2024 is a lost year and I don't really care if they have to carry an overpaid Lynn or Anderson; it's not like JR is going to carry 2024 savings over to 2025 and beyond. They have to have someone in those positions. It's better than some lazy move like trading for Ivan Nova. But in 2025, with Montgomery and Ramos ready (and it would be nice if Colas would perform) plus 3 or 4 pitchers (I can hope; the 2019 draftees will be in year 6) and with $60-$70 million to deploy, they may be able to make a move.
  12. Does anyone have the link to the site on which you can listen to the draft? Thanks Well it's right there on the mlb.com site; i had thought it was a different link.
  13. Is Wolkow someone who is signable with the savings from the round 6 and 8 punts, or is this just another form of punting?
  14. How about Teddy McGraw, RHP Wake Forest, injured.
  15. From what I read, Gonzalez sticks at SS. And FWIW, Jim Bowden said on MLB that he preferred Gonzalez to the 2 college SS drafted right before him.
  16. The rankings take into account the upside. And the rankings say he’s a late third. Just a lot of risk for what was one good cape summer and one big injury. Unless they cut a pre-draft deal, there’s no underslot here with the way LSU operates.
  17. An injured player is one thing. A reach is another. And then there is reaching for an injured pitcher. Quite the daily double.
  18. I assume that the "bunt" wasn't of the sacrifice variety, but of the "I think I can beat it out" variety, that just wasn't well-placed.
  19. If they want power, then underslot Chase Davis or Morales; please don't reach for them. And Morales is questionable regardless because his lack of plate discipline needs to be fixed, and this isn't a fix 'em organization.
  20. The badness of this trade is underrated. While the players swapped were of relatively equal talent, the trade fit neither the Sox positional needs nor its contention timeline.
  21. I'm past the anger at the lazy, self-serving and incompetent management; now it just makes me sad.
  22. Can't have Hahn squandering the few assets they have. Hold him and hope JR sees the light about what an absolute eff-up his GM is.
  23. The way the White Sox operate, probably so. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I remember the Sox traded ML ready Daniel Hudson for Edwin, Jackson and Hudson was immediately better than Jackson. If they look hard enough, I bet there will be ML-ready talent available right now, just not as much of a “sure thing” to produce right now. The socks have a lot of holes so a one for two would be a really good move.
