  1. A couple of relievers isn't much of a return. On the other hand Heathcliff Slocumb yielded Lowe and Veritek. But Schueler wouldn't trade with the AL.
  2. Not if you do it right. And the big problem with White Flag was its poor execution.
  3. Cleveland may be in trouble, as they've played the weakest schedule (or so it looks to me). But the other teams have played tough schedules. And despite the record, I don't see the Royals as the absolute patsies they've been for the last few years (patsies, that is, to every team but the Sox). Even if they Sox are in it in July, they've got to use July productively to bring young talent into thos org. And that includes trading at least Giolito. Now they have to do this right to pull it off. That's a big ask from Hahnber.
  4. To me, that's also concern with Burger at 3B; how long can he hold up there? A trade of Moncada will basically be a salary dump. He's just too overpaid for the rest of this season and next plus a $5 option for the next one. Trading Burger, on the other hand..... Plus, the Sox have to cull out these multiple DHs eventually.
  5. These guys may be flops, but org. just can't make conclusions on guys after 100 ML at bats.
  6. Burger is doing really well at DH; They don't have any reserves who can play multiple positions who are any good at it. Having 2 pinch runners and 5th OFs as reserves, as is currently, is not ideal. Sheets off the bench, if that's where he belongs, is more valuable than a 2nd 5th OF.
  7. Don't forget Bummer, whom Rick Hahn has proactively awarded a $1.75 million raise for next season. I would think that few object to trading 1/2 year players. And I think Hahn will eventually do it. But will he do the necessary research on other teams' minor league players, no easy feat when he's refused to build the infrastructure for that sort of thing; and will he even prioritize getting the most young talent possible, or will he use the trading season as a vehicle to dump salary, if only for the last 2/3 months of the year.
  8. Throwing Crochet into this pen is ridiculous. This team's problems are far, far deeper than the bullpen.
  9. I agree. The last thing the Sox need is to make a big deal out of this, reducing their leverage in trade negotiations; they already did it for Giolito by mouthing off to Nightengale.
  10. Preller has some Hahn in him; doesn't appear to be great at building a team. And he started off like Hahn, trading for veterans. There are distinguishing features of course: Preller is a superior evaluator of young prospects, the players he's assembled are superior to anything Hahn's put together, etc.
  11. A team in its window bats Haseley in the 9th.
  12. Do they ever go underslot, except when picking 4 year college players? By going underslot, I mean paying underslot. They've certainly reached and paid full slot in the past.
  13. Sadly, no tanking is necessary for this outfit to make the lottery. This hapless FO intentionally tanking would probably reduce its chances to make the lottery.
  14. Pitching is sketchy in AAA, Charlotte is a hitter's paradise, so what are Colas and Sosa they really learning there? Probably learn more in AA if the FO insist on playing the old guys on the major league team.
  15. In the spirit of 2023 Sox-Fest.
  16. They won't let him walk and will still get nothing.
  17. The only GM to lead the team to 2 consecutive playoff appearances in the history of the White Sox will start by saying that no one is more disappointed in the start than he is.
  18. Lose on a walk; the White Sox way. A result of their Voros-era analytics.
  19. “Ultimately we want someone who played a key part in a winning organization." Rick Hahn when asked about hiring a new manager. 10/3/22
  20. "They don't quit" is a sometimes reasonable mantra for an amateur team that is outmanned. It's absolutely patronizing for a professional team.
  21. It appears that there is no bottom...just a grand abyss.
  22. Could have been a nice time to give Remillard a try.
  23. Kind of like the Sox signing Colome (who, thusfar, has pitched a lot like Diekman). Then there was Hector Noesi, whom the Sox tagged him for a pile or runs one afternoon. The Rangers released him the next day, then the Sox signed him and he was actually decent decent for the rest of the season.
