Those 3 can't hit either hand pitching. And of the 3, only Pollock is a candidate for the "who could have known" excuse (and it's not that surprising anyway, given his age).

Narvaez was a capable major catcher at minimum salary under control for several more years whom they traded for a reliever who was under control for 2 years (only 1 contending year) at an average salary of c. $8.5 million.

Hahn's not worried if his injuries excuse is eviscerated. His clown-hat is teeming with more. Excuses is the area in which he truly excels.

Leaving the last row unfinished is a nice touch.

Sox hit the homer, and score 3. Arizona hits 2 singles and score 5. It usually takes the Sox 15 singles to score 5. Yikes

Perhaps sometime before the end of the season they could invite a juggler or a dancing bear into the clubhouse just to test the waters.

That $20 million was a woeful misallocation of resources.

The Phillies got a lot better after they booted him. As with players, I'll take the young guy over the mediocre veteran.
-
They'll call 2 up from Charlotte soon: Leury and Grandal. Just a disaster of an organization. But, it will all be blamed on LaRussa and Menechino.

effing Abreu

They've got to just play the young guys. It probably won't work, but it can't be worse than this crap.

I see that Pollock remains etched in the lineup and as leadoff hitter.

How about letting Engel play for a few days and let Pollock hit the pine (or the bricks). Engel can't be any worse. -
Yea, he's on the (long, long) list.

This is the heart of the matter in one eloquent post. Bravo!

A good FO could do some things to reinvigorate the team in the offseason.

The guy they held onto until yesterday (when they needed room for Andrus) was even worse. These are high K guys -that voros stuff.

We needed a SP and he told Rodon to hit the road, and then picked Vince Velasquez. It was only when Lynn was hurt did he get Cueto. He picked up Kimbrel's contract and announced to the world he wanted to trade him (good way to get trade leverage) . He then signs Joe Kelly for a mutli-year contract at about twice what he's worth. He then jettisoned Kimbrel for yet another aging player who the Sox are going to be on the hook for next year for over $10 million. He signed Leury to a 3 year deal at 2x his market value. He spent over $30 million making the team worse. Meanwhile his farm system checked in at #30.

He is, but he's the man who, at best, tolerated the RH dog-and-pony show for the last decade, when he had the power to end it. Ditka got the Bears a Super Bowl, but they didn't keep him around for 17 more seasons. I suspect that KW will do some cleaning this offseason - but I doubt it goes deep enough. But put someone new in KW's position, and the house will get cleaned.
