  1. They are still using some c.2005 protocols. Maybe they could attend some seminars or something. Zoom in - it will save travel costs.
  2. I just think this team needs a "hail mary." (and I wouldn't necessarily limit the "hail mary" to those 2). hopefully the Cleveland series will reveal that I'm premature on that.
  3. I don't disagree with anything in your post. To me, adding Andrus is like bunting: it probably has a higher chance to score one run - to be just enough to eek into the playoffs. I just think young players (and I would go beyond just SS; don't see much value from Pollock either) increase the odds of us actually being good; and better prepare and position the team for the next year or three. And part of the reason for my position on this is that I'm not convinced that the team, as is, is simply good enough even if Andrus plays decently. At least not with this power outage.
  4. Yes, in a static world this would be an upgrade. The world were old decliners stop declining and young players don't improve. That's how the FO has seen things for years. Hopefully it works out for 2 months.
  5. But expected. This type of move is the M.O. of this front office. Maybe it will work out for once.
  6. The VV experience should end this evening as well. Foster was pitching acceptably as a back end guy. The Voros era analytics need to go.
  7. Had to spill their guts to get the first 2. Did the same in game 3, but couldn't get the W. Hopefully we have something left for Cleveland, but the Sox aren't a young team.
  8. He hit the skids when Preller left. If Preller gets canned, some FO should pay him $5 million a year to run their scouting and development department.
  9. I didn't realize that vesting option just goes "poof" upon release. The rest of the contract doesn't - it's just that Oakland is liable for it.
  10. There is a little matter of 173 more PA = $15 Mill vesting option; I assume the claiming team would be liable for that albatross which would be awful for the Sox for next year. And I guess that's what negotiations are about.
  11. The aging decliners also seem to take an immediate leap down the decline ladder as soon as they join the Sox. Andrus is not very good, Sosa's not ready, but this one kind of makes sense. I get the shakes just thinking about it though.
  12. The bottom of the 8th is just a great psychological inning inning for the home team. Take the lead there and the visitors are kind of stunned - "we only have one chance left." A great effort tonight by the back 1/2 of the pen. Lambert taking the 8th! He certainly earned it.
  13. It would be cool for the Guardians and Twins to boss their way into 2 wild card berths.
  14. Freaking Guardians got more out of trading Clevinger than the Sox did out of trading Sale.
  15. They beat the Tigers. A neutral event.
  16. My mistake - Sox sent them Call for some other bum...maybe one of the "friends of Machado" trades. We traded a pitcher who's still with them. As for Gonzalez, he was a top 12 prospect, at a position of need (both offensively and defensively); letting him go was just kind of typical.
  17. Lord help us. Haber is tethered to Hahn. First car out: Hahn, Haber, Menechino 2nd car: La Russa, Kenny Williams, Duncan (the guy running analytics) 3rd car: McEwing, Narron, Boston, Getz,
  18. Also because they'd have to eat $11 million to get rid of Leury; already have to eat $10 mill (+?) to dump Pollock.
  19. The Braves brought up their starting CF Michael Harris II earlier this year straight from AA. But, oh no, we need Pollock.
  20. He wasn't #1, but Hahn got 2 top 20 prospects. The trade was light on 2nd tier prospects. The Reds got 1 top 15 for Castillo who wasn't as good and signed for shorter term; also much stronger in 2nd tier prospects. Hopefully Kopech develops as a TOR starter There really hasn't be a long stretch in his tenure where Hahn couldn't have justifiably been fired; almost every year there's been at least 1 major avoidable gaffe.
  21. Still, Martin is better than several of these bums. And Sosa is better than a lot of them. They need to start DFAing some non-performing geezers. LaRussa exacerbates it, but Hahn, Williams, Ozzie all liked the old guys.
  22. Yea he does; Hahn likes them over the hill too; everybody has their soft-spots. I probably should take it it easy here. Sale is a hall-of-fame talent. It wouldn't be like signing an over-the-hill Darin Erstad.
  23. The ongoing yearning for the declining, aged and infirmed is just weird.
