  1. A 10 game winning streak is right around the corner....
  2. If you're not getting better, then you are getting worse. #30 takes its toll.
  3. They can't right the ship in the middle of the season even with big moves. They may be able to fix things in the off-season, but that's not a guarantee, due to the paucity of both minor league talent and front-office talent. It may be that the Sox peaked in 2021 - and what you see is what you get.
  4. He ranks Hjerpe #54; he's looking for another White Sox reach. Of course the Sox could go this way, sign him for well below slot, which should allow for better players in rounds 2-4; or reduce round 5-10 punting. But that's not the modus operandi of this FO.
  5. His injuries and lack of starts were true when he was in college, yet the Sox drafted him anyway, which suggests that the Sox believe he can be a starter. I'm assuming that the FO wasn't so short-term minded to draft a reliever with pick #11.
  6. I hope he gets his wish; and the Sox should do all that they can to bring it about.
  7. A top 5 organization, considering smarts and resources. What gets me (among other things) is that Hahn spent 4 years collecting castoffs and AAAA players during the rebuilding phase (as he should have- at least the ones that he didn't trade for) ; not one of them stuck. He waives LH Gonzalez (despite never flopping for the Sox and a LH shortage) and boom! Six months later, he trades for an organizational minor leaguer because he needs a LH outfielder. It's ridiculous. Always reacting, never proactive.
  8. Yeah, moral victories. Let's go!
  9. It's not like they tattooed Verlander. Lot of grounders got through. Team still isn't driving the ball. Cueto had excellent command. The rest of the staff could watch and learn (#7 in Ks; # 21 ERA; #25 WHIP).
  10. I doubt it's coincidental that a top org in analytics claims players from an org. that is consistently a generation behind in analytics.
  11. That's fine, but leery of 2 of them at the same time. Haseley will also take a walk, unless/until the Sox fever hits him.
  12. Oh joy, another utility player on the roster.
  13. Close call. Minny has more resources; Cleveland has the better front office. Both front offices, of course, tower over the Hahn and Haber show.
  14. I wish they'd bring back the 40 rounds, or at least 30. If nothing else, they were fun to listen to. And there's always the next MB.
  15. Our pytho needed that! Nice game by Martin - efficient.
  16. Sure he could have gone earlier; but he didn't. Unless they had an agreement pre draft and that agreement caused other teams to pass (maybe that's what you were saying), I still can't see why you'd pay over slot. It's just consumer surplus. In every pick in a draft (except for maybe the first round) there is someone on your list ranked higher than the position you are drafting due to varying evaluations of players.
  17. I just can't figure out why team would pay any college 3rd year player overslot. Frankly, most should be paid underslot considering their negotiating position. Maybe that's why other teams an afford to punt for a 50K player while the Sox punt for a 10K talent.
  18. The Sox drafted Burke basically where he was ranked; that shouldn't require overslot it seems to me. And even if he were ranked, say, #50 and he fell to the Sox in the 3rd, what choice would he have had but to sign? A few years ago the Sox paid Sheets as a 3-year college player. Paid him overslot for some reason.
  19. Why would a team have to pay a college player overslot? Maybe Covid added an extra year for some of them and the older college player who can leave after 2 years has some leverage. But otherwise, if they don't sign after 3, they become seniors where they have zero leverage and are sure to be offered way underslot.
  20. They buy high for temporary spurts and career years. Too much trading of young for old. The FO has been so bad with veterans for so long that it's more than just bad luck.
  21. He made $1 million last year, didn't have year of any sort of note, but Hahn gives him $5 mill. That's just lazy.
  22. If his loyalty had boundaries, Rick Hahn would have been fired 6 years ago.
  23. I guess it's the strikeouts, but that's yesterday's analytics to a large extent. In the meantime, he's got a big walk problem, and this an ongoing problem in this organization, both issuing them (#28) and not taking them (#30).
  24. It's hard to believe that we'd DFA someone to make room for a 31 year old waivee from the worst team in baseball.
