Sox haven't been swept yet; let that continue, please.

Sox just lost most embarrasing DH in 120 years of MLB
GreenSox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Same show for going on 8 years. -
Would you add a FA starter b4 2021, and who/why?
GreenSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No. Good gracious. -
Accountability Starts Monday, August 10th, 2020
GreenSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
At least. They didn't have near the jumpstart that the Sox FO did. Further excuses for this regime are senseless. -
It could have happened to anyone. Thankfully, we have proven winners like Rickey Renteria, Rick Hahn and Jeremy Haber running the operation.
-
The core is Jiminez, Anderson, Moncada Robert, Giolito and Cease. That is your ready-to-win on the field core. Maybe you can throw in Madrigal, but he hasn't proven to be anything special. Kopech hasn't done enough yet. Relief pitchers are ancillary. Vaughn and Crochet are in the minors. Numerous high draft picks have been squandered, several of which were not well-intended when made. Is that enough to build a winner? I don't know. But if it's sufficient, then the FO needs to prove it and deliver a winner. Last time of course, he had the answers in the org, but didn't know it and were too impatient, so he dispatched them for mediocre and worse players. 40% of the As rotation, #3 in AL MVP 2019, and the current leader for the NL MVP would have looked mighty nice with the last core; or with this core.
-
The Sox are in a similar position as they were in 2015 or so. Can this FO do this time what it failed to do 5 or so years ago: turn a young core of 5 or so young players into a contender? Honestly, after 4 years of this, and primo drafting positions, it's still a little disturbing that the core is so small.
-
The wise choice. Aggressive trading at this deadline this season is senseless (except for sellers if some fool team wants to buy).

Speculation: Quintana back to White Sox???, rotation ideas...
GreenSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No, unless it's veteran for veteran trade, dealing from excess. Bad teams will make the playoffs so making the playoffs isn't the issue. The Sox need a lot more than 1 or 2 pitchers to win the world series. And aren't the Cubs a playoff contender? So why would they sell? -
Rodon to IL, Basabe DFA’d, Lail called up
GreenSox replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Several players they could have dumped instead; but they like their org. minor leaguers. -
Nothing that Darin Erstad couldn't fix, right Oz? He's right of course, Rickeys (both of them) are out of their league, but he shouldn't be catcalling anything. And the elevation of Delmonico, who was cut last summer, is weird.
-
The FO job is to see potential; plus, who they traded them FOR made little sense so there was little to be gained anyway. Too many excuses for this, heretofore, unproductive FO.
-
That's was Williams, but yep. Don't prioritize them at all.
-
Trade Steiever for more broken down veteran pitchers? The last thing the Sox need is for Hahn to panic and put on a clown show like he did in 2016.
-
I get that, but then I see the name Detwiler. Anyway, they darn well better make the playoffs this year, or the house should be cleared, pillar to post.
-
The drafted high school pitchers; they're risky, but okay. The thing is, for 2 straight years, they had to punt half of the draft to do it. I didn't understand Crochet - looked like another "quick to the majors" reach, with a little pining for Sale thrown in. SS are the way to go; they could have easily taken the player that the Cubs tool Of course Hahn dispatched 2 of the best in baseball for very little in return, so he clearly has other ideas.
-
They cut him but kept Ross Detwiler?
-
I haven't paid much attention to the 2nd spring training, but how in the world does Ross Detweiler make this team? He was awful last year. And where's Fulmer; I thought he was having a good spring (well the first one anyway).

Interesting Ozzie quote on Cooper...revisits Castro quote
GreenSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, Ozzie, it's the teams carrying the I Pads that have been winning for the last decade; the Sox were a decade late to the party, and it shows. As for Cooper, the results have been mediocre so I can't argue with him there. -
Anyone Remember Much about the 2000 White Sox?
GreenSox replied to Soxsi75's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I remember 2000 as a blast, sort of out of nowhere, of which the prospects totally changed when we dumped Navarro for 2 productive players right before spring training. It was also my first year on message boards and my introduction to message boards. In what I thought was a ridiculous thread on some Sox board, I posted something like 'Yall are acting like a bunch of 13 year olds," to which I received a series of replies along the lines of "what's wrong with being 13?" Sometimes one forgets... -
White Sox select LHP Garrett Crochet at #11, also, he signed
GreenSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Zach Burdi -quick to the majors, just like Sale Carson Fulmer - the White Sox have been great at dealing with awkward deliveries; they'll fix him. Tyler Danish - low arm slot; a right handed Sale. White Sox know how to deal with low arm slot pitchers. The reality is that the Sox haven't been very good at all at developing pitchers. Not surprised by this pick. This is what Hahn does. -

GreenSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is like the third high draft choice that they claimed was supposed to be just like Chris Sale. Ugh. -
05 I always felt that there was something missing on the 94 team...well, really 93 team as that's the one I remember. 2B was a real weak-link. Too many lineup holes: 2b, Guillen, Karkovice Pen wasn't great Manager wasn't either.

Pandemic Realignment: Sox in the Cactus League West
GreenSox replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe so, but that roster without Trout/Rendon/Ohtani is no worse than the Royals or Tigers. Heck I think there's a big chance of a significant Indians regression. But Dodgers/Reds/Angels>>>>>>>>>Twins/Royals/Tigers
