Starting Pitcher Wins Predictions
SoxAce replied to hogan873's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I agree. Estaban was dominent. He was very hard to hit. That new cutter he developed was awesome. Even hitters he faced said he is so dominent and his command was beyond incredible. Rule it out eh.. Ok I'll remember that one.. Why don't you think so? Prior still won 18 games and he missed a ton of games. I'm not saying that Garland is prior now, but if garland breaks through, he has the potential to do it even injured. That's the thing we don't know. How many people thought Estaban would have the season that he did? Baseball is a mysterious sport IMO. Whosays Buehrle will get hit hard? I can name a ton of pitchers in the league who throw the same pitches w/o changing anything and still be successful. That's your guess. I don't care how many people doubt his abilities and statistics. I'll let him prove you wrong. Hopefully you'll hear it. I will try to find the link of when I read it for you. Jimenez wouldn't put up those numbers unless he was at Coors or something. His lazy ass would never put up ridiculous numbers like that. Even if he did, the errors he puts up hurts the pitchers and cost that team the victory too. So...that's how he pitches. That doesn't mean he has "little" talent. Tell that to Greg Maddux. He has location, and knows his hitters. Yea that's "little" talent for you. The point is he didn't. His numbers were good after the all-star break. That's what the whole point I've been trying to tell you. In other words you agree with me. Not nessesary. I can be proven wrong easily, but in that case no. When your in a playoff run he pitched well after the all star break. Yes he was s*** before it, but he turned it around after. I don't like to break down statistics. He stepped up in Big games. That doesn't mean he stepped up every game. He ate up innings and gave us a chance to win regardless of how his record was at the time. Plus, that 4.50 era you keep stating isn't as bad as you think. Yes, from when you look at it is, but that doesn't reflect on how he pitched a certain game. You are a very smart baseball analist witesoxfan. I'm sure you'll be posting some detials to back up your statements. Of course, I'm ready for em.. -
Wow... that's all I can say at the moment.. It's not a huge blow, but it's that pitching challenge he could of brought outta that 5th spot. Oh well..

Someone posted about your favorite foods. I want to know from all of you the foods you hate to eat. You hate so much you couldn't even touch or smell them. Mine is Fish. I can not eat fish. The only fish I can eat is fish sticks. Not raw or cooked fish. I'm interested to know what food(s) you hate.

Starting Pitcher Wins Predictions

Buehrle even said himself that he tried a different approach last season as far as pitching. Obviously, it hasn't worked. That doesn't mean he is going to be s*** every year. I don't give a s*** how numbers look to you. Remember this pal, Stats can be deceiving. Obviously you did.. Josh Beckett has more dominent stuff than Garland. Plus, Beckett was injured as well. Are you suggesting you want garland to get injured so his arm can be fresh if we even have a chance at a playoff run..? That's what I've been saying. The best team on paper doesnt mean nothing in baseball. I don't think Buehrle's trend will continue, but I don't know Buehrle eigher. I still believe he's going to bust out because he's going to pitch where h had success eariler in his career. Buehrle said that twice. On a pregame show with hawk during the last game of the season, and on ESPN with one on one. One of the stories is what you just state it. Moving from the left side of the rubber to the right. I'm not even going to respond to that ridiculous statement.. Who gives a f*** what you record. Buehrle's attitude is as smooth as duffman. He just let's his pitching do the talking. Also kinda quiet as maggs' material. I said eariler stats can be deciving. And BTW, that's augest. See what he did the second half of the season, hell even in september, then you can say that. -
Even if he learned how to, it still wouldn't help because of how amazingly slow he is.

Cheats will be my main sig. If playa gets me one, I'll have his as a temp. cause Cheat has a ton of sigs to make. But if playas is as sweet as his own...ill just use his.

I agree with you about the royals making moves, about losing Colon, and about the Ozzie hiring, but not the others. You shouldn't even predict what a white sox player can do in a season. I think Pollite can be good this season. This is one of the rare seasons Gordon didn't get injured in. He had 1 good season this year, and now it's like he's a great loss. He cannot stay healthy. I bet he'll get injured sometime this year in NY. (just like Osuna) Shingo is another Sullivan as far as I'm concerned. Both sidearmers, desceptive delieveries, and have a hellofa changeup. Everett isn't a big of a loss as you expect. Sure he's left handed and... The left handed/ right handed thing is so overrated. Ozzie's plan for this season is to run and be on time. Rowand has decent speed, can hit for power, and is better defensively. Everett can give you power numbers, but that's it. We already have power hitters on this team. We need speed, and rowand can provide us some and others. Alomar's teachings will be missed, but I think Harris/uribe can hold the position down. Who knows what they will do this season. Harris even said in the article (if you want to post it, say the word) that he likes it when people doubt him. They don't know his abilities, only he does. I believe that eigher him or Uribe can step up this season. There's always one or two players on the sox that step up big time every year. They might not be the same players year in and year out, but they do step up. Hopefully it can be harris, rowand, uribe, or/and garland.

Rex, I need a registration to log in. Do you or anyone else mind posting it? Thx

Only when he pitches against us in big games.. I still wouldn't underestimate the twinkies no matter how much bullpen depth they lost. They are still very dangerous. They proved it for two straight division titles. We had that same thing in 03. Look what happened.

They tried Soriano, but the cardinals definitely didn't take it. The yanks would have to do a hell of a lot better than that to get the second best hitter in the NL. (bonds 1st) They gave up crap for Vasquez, but I think the cardinals are alittle better in trading good players..

Playa, you think u could make me a sig man? If u want i'll PM u about what I want on it if u want to do it. thx.

I'm definitely famous. You'll hear mine on there..

That's a good way of looking at it. Frank didn't show any laziness by just letting that ball go. People would had probably questioned his desire for the game if he did that. (esp. if that would had turn into a horrible inning.) I don't think anyone is going to tell Ken Griffey Jr. to just let the ball bounce in front of him. That's what makes them great. They are willing to go all out for their team at any game. Gotta respect people like that. Frank is not a decent 1st baseman, but konerko is far from better. If anything, frank probably has more range than "turtle" konerko IMO.
-
f*** ya I can't wait. I hate it to be in 06 though. (I'll be 20 yrs. old) But if it's good, I'm willing to wait... Hopefully it isn't the "finally" that is talked about. Simpsons=Classic.

Couldn't agree more. It's really embaressing to have a big man like frank probably beating a smaller dude like konerko in a race. At least we know that frank, even if his average is lower than what we expect, can still put up 30 homers 110 rbis a year. Pallie couldn't even do that when he had his off year. Frank's off year could be better than Konerko's good year (except average) IMHO.

Thank you or pointing that out! I was gonna go crazy on aboz
