As opposed to any other lineup the Sox have brought to the table in the last 5 years???? I think the Sox problem has been that they have too many power right handed hitters. Podsednik may only have had a .313 OBP last year, but was at .373 the year before. Thats not too bad. Also I have high expectations that Uribe will become a solid SS and a very good hitter. Look the Sox have had over 200 HRs for a team the last 5 years. Last year, they did it with Maggs and Frank both being out more then half a season. I am tired of the long ball. Change in this fashion, I think, is good. Now, if they can get another solid starter, my Christmas wishlist will be met.

And what exactly is wrong with this lineup. Actually, I'd have it look like this. LF-Podsednik SS-Uribe CF-Rowand DH-Thomas/Everett 1B-Konerko RF-Dye 3B-Crede C-Davis 2B-Harris
-
the Sox played half the season in 2004 with Scott Schoweineis, Dan Wright and Esteban Loaiza. The pitching staff alone is much different and much better then last year, now with a full season of Garcia and Contreras.

I have an interesting rumor. The Sox have a 3 team trade with the D-Backs and the Rangers. Konerko to the D-Backs, Johnson to the Rangers, and Soriano to the Sox. What do you all think of that???? I know Johnson said he'd only play for a contender, but his options are limited if its not with New York. Texas is really up and coming and they would thrieve on having him. Yes Soriano strikes out a lot, but he still is a big time 2B. This is all hypothetical, but what do you all think????

Ideally, I'd love to see Rowand Bat 3rd. Even if we are less fortunate to start the season with Willie Harris at second, I'd love to see a lineup like this. Harris Uribe Rowand Konerko Lee Everett (Thomas would still be injured) Dye Crede Davis. AHHHHHH. Now that I look at this lineup, they have to trade Konerko. Way too many right handed power hitters. I'll miss him

Magglio who????? Naw you can't replace Maggs, but you can certainly replace Joe Bochard!!!!!
-
Just read on another forum, he was very well liked by the San Fran fans. a gutty, respected player. I am starting to like this signing even more. Our bullpen will be very good next year.

Since the yanks are obviously adding to their pitching with Wright and Milton, that leaves some odd men out. If they sign Milton, they'll have Milton, Wright, Vasquez, Brown, Mussina, and El Duque (or is he a free agent???) No one is going to take on Brown's contract, unless they are stupid (then again the Sox did take on Everetts) So someone has to be the odd man out. If they trade Vasquez it will be for RJ. Do you all think its possible for Hernandez to follow in Contreras' footsteps???
-
I really have no clue what the Sox plan to do. I wouldn't have paid Wright that kind of money. They must get someone. Whether its Clement, trade for Vasquez, Perez..... They must. They must open their pockets and pay extra for a free agent, otherwise they won't be able to get them.

Bears Sign Alex Brown to a 5 Year Extension
quade36 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I was waiting about two months for this. Great Signing. There is still a place for Haynes though. 3 defensive ends is a plus. Plus Urlacher might be back this sunday. -
Its called a tax write-off. JR may be cheap, but he isn't stupid.

Okay, with the Team the Sox have, anyone who wouldn't rather have Podnesidek and Castillo over Anderson and Lee are crazy. The Sox have plenty of power, Rowand, Thomas, Crede, Konerko. The Sox have no 1 and 2 batters and haven't since Tim Raines and Lance Johnson. But alas, this is just a rumor
-
damn this thread, I woke my roomate up thinking it may be a rumor.
-
Hey Konerko WAS leading the league in steals at one point this season Allbeit the first game of the year.
-
This Thread sucks..... COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS IF WE ARE IN THE SAME POSITION COME MARCH. The winter meetings haven't even happened yet. Common. If I remember correctly, the Sox didn't trade for Colon til after the new year. And that was a pretty big offseason aquisition. For now lets not talk about the why nots and what ifs in baseball, lets watch some bad football and basketball in Chicago...;

I got the Farnsworth trade that will satisfy both teams. Farnsworth for Scott Schowenweis. cubs need a left handed pitcher who can spot start, Sox would love a right handed power pitcher. I'd do this trade in a heartbeat.

Okay, This is just my opinion, but I think you believe Lee and Konerko are worse then the numbers they put up the past SIX years in the bigs. Konerko has put up solid numbers in 5 of his 6 years and Lee has put up solid numbers in all six. Konerko's average per 162 games 29 HRs 99 RBIs.278 AVG Lee's average per 162 games 28 HRs 102 RBIs .288 AVG And the are both just entering their primes. They are both 28. You know if they were to trade 1 of them for a quality pitcher I'd accept that, but on the other hand they both can put up monster numbers. Now you are all up on Eric Brynes, someone who I think has never been and will never be more then a guy hitting .270 with 20 HRs. In 5 seasons he has a lower BA then both Konerko and Lee, has only 38 career HRs!!!! You are awfully big on a guy who hasn't done anything yet. If you are to say wait a couple of years, I'd rather wait for Ryan Sweeney or Brian Anderson. Now you say offense doesn't mean a championship. I agree with that. But lets look at defense and intangibles. Lee last year did not make an error all year. He was one of the best OF in the league. Lee put up better defensive numbers then Byrnes. Konerko is a team leader. He is the kind of guy you want in your dugout. He thrives on winning and is the first to point the finger at himself if the team fails. I don't see how in the world you can even put Eric Brynes in the same league as Lee and Konerko. I'd even put Aarond Rowand above Brynes. I'd probably put him in the same league as Jose Valentin, and will he be in the team next year? So let me get this straight, you want to trade Lee, Konerko, and 10 mil for Hudson and Byrnes??? I'd love to have Hudson no doubt, I'd even trade 1 of them for him, but both? Thats a lot for a guy who was 12-6 with a 3.53 ERA last year and battled the injury bug. Another question, why in the world would the Sox even think of trading for an OF, a position that in the next two years will be clustered???? Right now they have Lee, Rowand, and dare I say it, Bochard (who by they way they invested way too much money in to just give up on) After 2005 Anderson will be ready, after 2006 Sweeney will be ready. They picked up Alex Escobar as a diamond in the rough. I could see the Sox trading Konerko and Bochard for Hudson and a mid-level prospect. Hmmm thats a good idea, no? Your deal would be the same as trading Mark Buerhle and Freddy Garcia for Gary Sheffield and Kenny Lofton. Would you make that trade?????? I'm all for realistic trades, but this, my friend isn't even close.

Is he even going to be able to start the season?
-
I thought it was 639 actually. But I'm finally glad they have it now.

I've always like Armas Jr. Though I'd love to get Zach Day if we could.

Apparently, most sports fans dont think much of us
quade36 replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The reason why many accross the country don't think of the Sox in that fashion is because we aren't a flashy team. We aren't a team with a high salary. Heck, we aren't even a team built to win. There have not been a long line of complainers, both on the team and as fans. We as fans don't promote our team the way others do. We are not media friendly because there is just no story when it comes to the Sox. There has not been any great history, except for the Black Sox scandal. In my opinion, the Sox are American Baseball. A team that just goes out there to play baseball. -
Is no one high on Ben Gordon? I think he is going to be a stud. I think he will lead the Bulls in scoring and I like the backcourt of him and Hinrich. I do agree its put up or shut up time for both Chandler and Curry, but one things for sure. This team WILL be more exciting to watch. I predict them to win more then 30 games this year. Possibly make the playoffs next year, and then, who knows. This is a very very good young nucleous. Andres Nocioni is also someone who can contribute a lot to this team. I've heard reports that he was the best free agent signing of the offseason. They also have a much stronger bench with Piatowski, Davis, Harrington and Adrian Griffin. Not to mention Deng. I, for one, am optimisitic, especially with Skiles as their coach and Paxson as the GM.

who cares about the cubs. watching their fans, win or lose, I watched the sox horrible game last night. To me that was more important then the cubs losing even if the season is over for the sox. There are still some goals, like being over .500 for the season.

I know I know, we shouldn't reflect on the could haves, but if Frank and Maggs played a full season the power of this team would have been amazing. Its probably safe to say that Frank and Paully would both have over 40 HRs. If Carlos and Valentin both get one more HR they will both have over 30. So the Sox would have had two guys with 40 Hrs 3 more with 30 Hrs (Maggs included), and 3 more with over 20 Hrs. That would have been amazing. Then again its the whole could have......

I unfortunately left the game early because I am having people over for the boxing fight. They were losing 8-4 when I left I want to shoot myself
