  1. The soccer team is probably half that number.
  2. There will never be a Dream Team with a massive competitive advantage again. The world is joining the NBA more and more every year. The expectations will always be high though, because "we" invented the game.
  3. There were 50 more US women competing than men in this Olympics. I would hope that they'd have more medals.
  4. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10009632-tmz-jaxson-hayes-tased-by-police-in-arrest-video-lapd-investigating-excessive-force So, Jaxson Hayes, Pelicans center - Elvin's son. Got arrested and tased by police during a domestic call. Now, the cops are saying that he used the N-word on them, and they want the NBA to discipline him. This could be a big deal with the players union vs. cops vs. NBA if this continues. ... I mean, Jaxson is "mixed", and the black culture sometimes uses a version of the N-word in conversation. I don't see how someone being tased shouldn't be very upset/say awful things when it happens. I wouldn't use that word, but I'd sure as hell say some things while being tased.
  5. You think Costner or Liotta will be there?
  6. Really sad. Third Night Court cast member to pass in 3 years.
  7. Former Florida State Football Coach Bobby Bowden, 91
  8. Former Astros All Star Pitcher J.R. Richard, 71

    2021 Catch-All

I'm not opening political opinions with this (I will delete political replies), but I want to know how many of you are paying attention and/or reacting to the COVID Delta variant news?
  10. Tall, college starter. Possible fast-mover through the minors. "A projectable right-hander from the Massachusetts high school ranks, Burke went undrafted in 2018 and headed to the University of Maryland. Tommy John surgery knocked out his freshman season in 2019, but he returned to pitch very well as the Terrapins' Sunday starter in the shortened 2020 season. He's led Maryland's rotation in 2021 and while his results have been a bit inconsistent, his stuff has opened a lot of eyes and put a bit of an up arrow next to his name. Burke has one of the best overall fastballs in the class when combining velocity and movement. Coming from his 6-foot-6 frame, it's generally in the 92-95 range, but he has reached back for more when he's wanted to. The pitch has serious ride up in the zone, a four-seamer that routinely misses bats. His secondary stuff has been a bit more inconsistent. He throws two breaking pitches, using a knuckle curve to create good shape and depth, and a newer slider he was throwing a lot. They'll flash plus, but will also flash below-average, with some scouts wishing he'd focus on just one. Burke does have a changeup with some arm-side fade, but doesn't throw it much. Developing that and improving his overall command -- walks have hurt him during his time at Maryland -- will be keys for him to be able to start at the next level. A team taking him in the top couple of rounds will certainly give him that opportunity, knowing he might approach triple digits and be a nasty fastball-breaking ball weapon late in games out of the bullpen if starting doesn't work."
  11. Lefty hitting High School 3B - Sox give him extra money to keep him from college. "At the start of the summer showcase circuit, Kath was just another high school bat amongst many throughout the country. After swinging the bat consistently well at a number of events, from the Area Code Games to the World Wood Bat Association World Championship, he emerged as the top position player in Arizona and certainly didn't hurt his stock by absolutely raking during his senior season, earning Gatorade's state high school player of the year honors in the process. Kath became a bit of a sleeper favorite among scouts because of his abilities from the left side of the plate. He showed the ability to impact the baseball repeatedly at a number of events against very good competition. There have been times in the past where he's been more of a defensive hitter, but he attacked the ball more this summer and there's size and strength to hope for more power if he can continue to be aggressive at the plate. While Kath plays shortstop in high school, most see a move to third base at the next level. He has good hands and a plus arm, but he tends to need to set and throw to be accurate and will likely lack the range to play up the middle as he matures. He does have the chance to be an excellent third baseman, with some seeing the Arizona State recruit as a slightly more athletic version of Red Sox prospect Triston Casas, perhaps with a bit less power."
  12. Just cannot hit for average and is struggling with his plate discipline. Stuck between AA and AAA this year. Has hit AA for power, but cannot lower his Ks.
  13. Has struggled with command in high A and Rookie ball.
  14. Has been up between AAA and the Sox the last two seasons. May have a bench MLB OF job since he's a lefty bat, but has been constantly surpassed by other players.
  15. Struggled in AAA, has had spot appearances in A ball to try to get his stuff back. Already 25 years old.
  16. Mediocre in Rookie league this year.
  17. Hitting surprisingly well in Rookie league - at 21 May finish in low A this year. 8 games - .345 4 HR and 9 RBI
  18. 24 years old and high ERA in A ball.
  19. Not doing much in A ball this year. Who knows; he could get better.
  20. 27 years old and middling in AA. Not really a prospect anymore.
  21. Played independent ball in 2019 - not playing this year. Most likely done.
