  1. I forgot about how many of you are on my Facebook friends list.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) Yeah, I have MJD in one of my leagues and Chris Johnson in another (both are RB2). The commentary on these two players is that they suck, are hardly playable anymore. They are a f***-ton better than any of the FA options out there as well as some of the guys I had picked up as potential backups throughout the season (Michael Bush, Shonn Greene, Ben Tate, Shane Vereen). Trading for Giovani Bernard has given me some depth in one league, but he has hardly outproduced them. I think it is just a shallow position. Might have to re-evaluate what a RB2 looks like. I wouldn't be surprised if there are leagues with QB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, RB/TE next season.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 02:28 PM) Watching that game on tv was amazing. Just imagine how much trouble color-blind people may have had trying to watch that game on tv.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) A trade like that probably never happens in real life, but that is the type of deal I would take for Chris Sale. The problem is, that Stanton wants a mega-deal. It would be a waste for a short term solution with this franchise right now.
  5. I've met shipps, lostfan, BigSqwert, MilkmanDelivers, Y2HH, and some other less frequent posters and ex-posters in real life. We've had Soxtalk meetups and a website patio party in the past. I'm sorry that I missed the softball games. There just hasn't been as much going on these days now that we're older, married, etc.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) Ha, no, fraternity league. Sucks to be knight too. I also had David Wilson in week 1 and lost by 2 points. I have the second highest points total this week. Jake has the highest and is my opponent. :-/
  7. Target has Monster Cereals (Count Chocula, Frankenbery, Boo Berry) in a display that includes Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) I've got Le Veon Bell and Eddie Lacy for extra RB I'd say go for it, then. Moreno gets points but Brown is the #1 passing TD threat on Pittsburgh.
  9. DeAza - CF Beckham - 2B Ramirez - SS Dunn - DH Garcia - RF Viciedo - 1B F/A/Rookie - LF Semien - 3B Phegley - C
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) A trade was offered to me. My Knowshon Moreno for Antonio Brown. My starters at RB are Gore and Lynch. Moreno is very hit and miss as they sit him if they get a lead and let Hillman and Ball play. I like Brown over Moreno overall, but who is your 4th RB? You'll need a backup for bye weeks.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Yeah, the Tigers and Red Sox both date to the 1900 origin of the AL. The Dodgers date to 1890 and the Cardinals to 1892. The Cards could go back to 1882 and Dodgers 1884, really - if you want to count the American Association.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 08:21 AM) I did say you gotta hope for a goal line plunge, and in this case he got two. He's still awful though Bears D was a Porous Line.
  13. Interesting that 4 of the oldest MLB franchises are in the LCS serieses.
  14. Sizemore's knees are probably in their 40s, health-wise.
  15. QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) After reading all of your comments, and thinking more about what Hahn should do, I think this "retool" should be a two year project. I would trade Alexei and de Aza, for prospects, if there is any market for them. I would retain all of the young pitching, including Santiago. Abreu is still my unquestionable #1 target. Gamble on a cheap, one year deal for Sizemore, who will be looking to re-establish his value: Here is my lineup: SS Semien 2B Beckham RF Garcia CF Sizemore 1B Abreu DH Dunn LF Viciedo 3B Gillaspie/platooned with a rh hitter C Phegley/Flowers competition That gets them to 2015, when they can evaluate the development of the young core of Semien, Garcia, Abreu, Viciedo, Gillaspie and whoever catches. Then, with plenty of payroll flexibility still left, they can decide if they have any other holes to fill besides Sizemore and Dunn, whose contracts would be finished. They would have a better idea of how to evaluate the pitching staff, after a year of the young starters, Santiago, Johnson, as well as a better idea of well Danks has recovered. It also gives them one more year to gauge the potential of some of the very young talent like Hawkins, T. Anderson, Micah Johnson and whoever is selected #3 in this years draft. With continued payroll flexibility, and a few youngsters emerging as solid players, the Sox should be able to fill the remaining holes and put a very competitive team on the field in 2015. Leury Garcia SS, Semien 3B is more likely.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Even better sounding Dodgers would have to deal Dunn to a 3rd team, most likely.
  17. "You are going to take batting practice and the rats look bigger than a pig out there...I think the rats out there are lifting weights."
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) I could get behind this. Financially, it could be Danks + Dunn for Ethier + 14 mil.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Let's not forget, the Dodgers had to start Juan Pierre for an extended period of time not too long ago....which, inexplicably, made him look more attractive to the White Sox. And they were paying Andruw Jones, Manny Ramirez and Juan Pierre for doing nothing, too. The only holes they have in their line-up are essentially 3B (Uribe's been pretty decent this year) when Hanley Ramirez hasn't played there and 2B, where Skip Schumacher's serviceable but certainly not a star or maybe an everyday player on a lost of playoff rosters. At one point, Dee Gordon looked like he might be a starter, but that bus has already left the station. Actually, Gordon's the type of player the White Sox should/could look at as a replacement for Ramirez...probably he won't hit enough to field the position, but he could bring some needed speed and he's a capable defender. John Danks for Ethier and cash makes a bunch of sense, then.
  20. Pacers and Rockets are playing live right now from the Philippines.
  21. Should I start Cutler or Cam Newton? Both have been up and down, but Cutler is up right now and facing the mediiocre Giants D.
  22. Ventura doesn't always overrule his pitching coach and wear out his staff.
