  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) Yeah, it's almost one of those things where he'd be better off at BIRM or Winston-Salem to start off with. Extended Spring in Arizona or in the North Carolina area.
  2. Soldier Field is on a virtual island, same as Field, Shedd and SAI. Not much CTA except buses. Building closer into the city would sure help at least some CTA-wise when it came to game day traffic alleviation.
  3. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Like where? The lakefront location is awesome, its in a park, on the lakefront, perfect view of downtown, close to the metra lines and interstates and right off a huge transfer station on the L. The truth is that Chicago just does not have the transportation infastructure anywhere in the city to allow a stadium any larger than what the Bears have now. A suburb would be even more nightmarish. As for the schedule, Bears dont have any stretches of games that look too difficult in a row. Their tough games are pretty well broken up. It could go where the Olympic Stadium was supposed to be built. It would be a joint stadium shared by the Bears/AFC Chicago team. Kind of like Giants/Jets. #fantasyland
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) I remember thinking his swing looked a little like Gary Sheffield's when he first played for the Sox in spring training. Last night, I don't know who that was at the plate. When did Gary Sheffield play for the Sox?
  5. By nature, to suck as a hitter, you have to fail more than 80% of the time, so... I'd say if there are defensive deficiencies included, the worst player would fail one way or another at least 82-85% of the time.
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:42 AM) oh yeah? wow... you're really smart. you somehow knew a kid with a terrible major league track record would suddenly become useful. why aren't YOU running this team? Wow dude, chill out. I also believed in him as well. He had a very solid showing in the last part of 2010, so he proved that he could hit, he just needed plate appearances.
  7. Lincecum's power comes from his specific throwing motion and leg push. There has to be a mechanical issue that's messing that up.
  8. Winner: A.J. Pierzynski (12 points) - dielac, HickoryHuskers, SoxAce, Tex, Greyone.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) What does ferociously cute even mean? Is it like the little engine that could? QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) I hate all of you QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) What does ferociously cute even mean? Is it like the little engine that could? ...and on your left, you'll see the world's smallest sundial...
  10. Let me guess... Ohman or another lefty in for the next two batters.
  11. That's the guttiest inning so far this season. Even better than Floyd the other day.
  12. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) Any idea why 5 (2, then 3 more 10 mins later) huge black military choppers flew over Chicago heading west? It was pretty damn loud, not normally something you'd see. Edit: 2 more just flew by. QUOTE (forrestg @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) Wasting gas? QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) I saw them too (but only 3 so i assumed that it was testing for Obama), my guess is something with NATO and going over routes etc. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) I would bet on NATO as well. There is some big time prep going into this. http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/4568...itary-Training/ http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20120416/news/704169751/
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Hey I know we have a minor league subforum but I thought some of you guys would appreciate this info since you probably don't frequent mentioned subforum too much: CF Jared Mitchell on fire at AA Birmingham. 7-for-11 with 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 SB and 5 BB in last 4 games. Overall average up to .343 Scot Gregor via twitter. If he keeps this up, he could be in Charlotte by June.
  14. Ozzie defends guys to the end. He may not know when to shut up in the media, but he's definitely a player's (veteran's) manager. Bobby has been out of managing for 10 years and he never was on the players' side.
  15. Winner: Adam Dunn (6 points) - No one; Highest picked: Alexei Ramirez - smalls2598.
  16. The Oracle of Baseball is fun too.
  17. http://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/ Try it! I bet you can easily waste 15-20 minutes on it.
  18. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) Pure. Squirrel aside, the rubies in the cardinal are just incredible.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) I watch plenty of other teams, and there are plenty of weak links out there... Who does Nick Punto play for these days? Red Sox
