QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) What's the definition of Holmgrening? Engulfing a team like a giant walrus with mediocre front office management. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 07:45 PM) Soxtalk at it again. Treating one of our very own like a cheap prostitute. 2005, anyone? Go, JD. I'll always be thankful for you ending our 95-year title drought. Jordan4Life writes a poem like Soxtalk fully owes him He writes so sincere Yet it's merely a sneer Cuz he knows that Greg775 just owns him -

Why move Rios to LF? He's a better CF than De Aza. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) IDK if this has been talked about yet, but does Flynn's performance yesterday take some votes away from Rodgers for MVP? If anything, it proves that the weapons the Packers have are a big reason why Rodgers has a 120 something QB rating. Plus, I don't think Drew Brees has been much worse. It hurts that he didn't get 5,000 yards. I think that the hype is still enough that he will get it - it just won't be as unanimous as previously thought. Rodgers 45% Brees 35% Brady 15% Tebow 5% (that's the ESPN contingent) -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) I'll have to agree with you on this one greg. You would.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Unless Mark suddenly breaks down and hurts his arm, which I guess is possible, his loss is HUGE to our pitching staff. Innings, innings, innings. Quality start after quality start. How can the Sox not miss him greatly? The man is the definition of solid, effective starting pitcher. He only pitched 12 innings more than Floyd and his WHIP was 1.30. I said that he was a good pitcher - I just don't think that 200 IP is a huge thing anymore.
-
I may get blasted for this, but... While Buehrle was a very good and reliable guy and an innings eater, but he was not a world-beating pitcher by any stretch. His loss may not be as devastating as people think.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
knightni replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) Anybody want to answer these questions about Cespedes for me? a.) what position does he play? Centerfield/Rightfield b.) rate his defense. Pretty good - he's very quick c.) describe his hitting prowess and who he reminds you of at the plate. - He's a 30 HR guy in Cuba, I'd say that he's 20/20 in the majors if he figures out pitchers. Not sure who he reminds me of, though. A speedier Alexei maybe? d.) Is he a can't miss prospect? He's 26 (in Cuba age) - he's more like a solid AAA guy who may start in the majors if he gets success against MLB pitchers or De Aza regresses. e.) Do you think Sox will get him? Possibly. Who knows? -
QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 08:04 PM) This is a decent move. Simon Castro was one of the Padres dominating pitchers prior to his dismal 2011 season-which leads me to believe KW/Coop & Co. identified something they could tweak to return him to form. Thought maybe we could've gotten Grandal and Castro, but that might've been too much Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Sale, Humber with Molina, Castro, Stewart - waiting in the wings is pretty good. To me, the two trades signal Zach Stewart as a bullpen option in 2012.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Any doubt that the Daniel Snyder & the Redskins throw bags of money at Matt Flynn & sign him? Unless Peyton Manning is available. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 03:35 AM) Just based of Adam Sandler credited movies, Chuck and Larry got a 14%, Grandma's Boy an 18%, and Mr. Deeds a 22%. If you are using RT for comedies, then you are doing it wrong. What's Bucky Larson's percentage?

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Isn't Hobbit coming out in Dec? Not that I'll be seeing it. I guess. I just knew that it was out this year - I never checked the date of release.

I'd say 10-6 if they started McCown over Hanie from the beginning. -
Looking like a Hobbit-y Bat-riffic year.

QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Steve Nash and Dirk aren't white. Nash is Canadian, while Dirk is German. That's like saying that Luol Deng isn't black because he's from Africa. Canadians and Germans are some of the whitest people around. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Felix, I know you won't like this, but Kevin Love needs to leave Minnesota. He's too f***ing spectacular to be wasting away there. He's the coldest whiteboy I've seen since Stockton. Colder than Dirk Nowitzki or Steve Nash? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) Things the White Sox continue to not need in the least: 1. Outfielders 2. Right hand hitting Outfielders 3. Right hand hitting outfielders who might belong as backups. 4. Right hand hitting outfielders who only hit left handed pitching, thus need to be platooned.
