QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) Doesn't have a full no-trade? I wonder what teams he'd be willing to go to. Not many make much sense. Would the Bulls really trade him to a playoff rival? Or anyone in the East? He's too slow for the Warriors. Clips don't need him. San Antonio doesn't need him. Thunder maybe? Durant really wanted him during his last FA. Clips would take him if they deal Blake Griffin.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) I think he was more trying to say he's not the victimized black man that he portrays himself as. He gave an example that King claimed he was beaten up for being black but when Whitlock/ESPN went digging for corroboration of that story they couldn't find any. edit: looking at his wiki page, there is a mention that a reporter found his birth certificate that named two white parents. King claims the father is not his real biological father though. I looked at the people on the birth certificate. There is no way on this Earth that those two people made a person that looks like Mr. King.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) You are confusing the former football player with the writer, who I think is biracial. He's biracial, black and white both. Whitlock is calling him white only and trying to discredit him.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Yep. Shaun King is a black man and Whitlock is being racist against one of his own people.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) According to Whitlock (consider the source), the writer of that article is a known liar. He's a white dude that complains all the time about treatment of black athletes. Apparently Whitlock was going to hire him for his ESPN site but they couldn't substantiate a lot of stories he told, so they moved on. edit: this was all on the dan patrick show this morning. Shaun King?

Guest Article: Tim Anderson writes for Future Sox
knightni replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 09:34 AM) Especially coming from rural Mississippi where there's little scouting coverage for baseball...the scout who signed him deserves a lot of credit for fighting for his selection. The school has 3,000 people in it with modern facilities. He's from Tuscaloosa too. If I know scouting, I'd say he was noticed in high school first. -
QUOTE (ozzfest @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) I guess "useful purpose" on Soxtalk is defined as whether mods agree with the cause... If your "cause" is to continually bash a group or individual by repeatedly bumping a thread, that's a personal attack. Thus, it can be dealt with by the mods due to the board's rules. How is dragging someone continually through the mud, "useful?"

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) I'll play. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) I'll play. I've been relatively successful in my 8 years of fantasy baseball playing and I've been looking for a baseball keeper or two to get involved with. I need emails to send invites.

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) I'll play. Okay, what fantasy history do you have?

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) ref the bold, this is for discussion .... but here is the problem. the sox will replace a hitter who can't hit, assuming that will be the reason to his release. now he will be replace with a AAA player who may not be able to hit his weight. it is just too much of a gamble to take, esp if Avi is in the outfield. now and i am sure most will agree, sign a Fa of'er and move and platoon Avi to the dh role. but this is what many have already thought of and is nothing new. Perhaps they replace him with Tim Anderson.

Good luck this season!

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) ok, i am not trying to be snarky or anything like that. but, in june, if, he is to be release, who will replace him, ref to hitting ???? now add the idea of Avi is in the outfield and the sox will release laroche. I'd assume it would be Coats or another AAA guy. When your DH is failing, replacing him is not really that difficult since it can be anyone. June is the month that teams wait until for prospects because of service time; this way they get an extra year of control out of them before free agency.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Garcia is the bigger issue, because something can actually be done about it. We're stuck with LaRoche. If he still sucks by June, he's going to be released.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) He had an awful first half then bounced back pretty big in the 2nd half. .262/.331/.446 is nothing to sneeze at IMO. He had a very good 2012-2014 too.

We still have two openings if there's interest.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 12:00 PM) The talking up of Avi continues. He's gonna be the starting right fielder and I'm gonna lose my freaking mind. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 8m8 minutes ago Todd Steverson said Avisail Garcia was very receptive to trying a new stance when they worked out for 3 days in Miami. Promises diff. look. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 7m7 minutes ago Todd Steverson on Avisail Garcia: "“You can tell people, tell people, tell people. But until they get a hold of it in their own head." Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Basically, #WhiteSox know there's much to be done & it's early. They're hoping Avisail Garcia gets comfy w/ new stance in spring. This has an Alex Rios vibe.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Why do you think the admin/mod staff is here. It quite literally takes all of us to prevent mass-Gaging of the board. Let us not forget the Gaging of 2004. May they all RIP. We lost thousands of posts/post counts when the system site transfer crashed, iirc.

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 09:30 AM) Where did you get 22.6, those add up to 17.6 for those 5 starters for 2005? Maybe you used the stat for starts by all starters that year but you only use 5 starter projections for 2016. They add up to 18.6.

Is it true that releasing Rose only counts for $7 mil a year - over the next 3 years - against the cap?
