  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) That doesn't change the fact that the schedule sucked pre-clemson. That's all he said. He wasn't criticizing them not trying to schedule to tough. And you also should not be rewarded if your schedule ends up sucking. My point is, how can you control it when your schedule ends up sucking?
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) He is yanked after just getting two outs in the first. QUOTE (Soxfan90 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) What a shame. All of the runs were unearned as well.
  3. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Ranked "at the time" is meaningless. They're just not that good. And that Texas win might as well be FCS. You can't just edit the schedule and change teams the year that they are good to pump the schedule. Georgia Tech was a required ACC game and the Texas series was scheduled back in August of 2010. Texas was 13-1 in 2009 prior to the scheduling.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) I have no idea what to expect with them this year. Their schedule prior to Clemson is a joke with how bad Texas and GT are. ND was better than Clemson, as Clemson seemed far too conservative from the 2nd quarter on Ga Tech was #14 at the time and considered a good team. ND never plays FCS teams and they had to play ACC teams due to their new contract. I really think that calling a schedule made 5 years ago a "joke" is overstating things.
  5. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) No offense to the Notre Dame fans on this board, but I'm glad Clemson put an end to the Notre Dame playoff mirage. ND is such a tough team to measure year in and year out. Sloppy conditions, multiple turnovers, and a poor coaching decision only lead to a two point loss on the road in one of the toughest places to play in college football. Notre Dame is not done yet.
  6. I was not the target audience for Earth To Echo. Actually, I'm not sure that anyone is.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Happy 27th birthday to Derrick Rose. In human years, his body is 189.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 12:33 AM) 2-2 on NCAA games. Damn. 1-1 on NFL. That's why I don't bet.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) That ND/Clemson o/u is now 50 2-2 on NCAA games. Damn.
  10. Wisc -6 Tex Tech +17 Florida +7 ND/Clem U53 Eagles -3 Panthers -3
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) Bet the under on any game being played in the Carolinas. ND - Clemson is a pick 'em. Essentially, ND is favored by 4.
  12. Arthroscopic knee surgery on his left knee this offseason. Hopefully he doesn't lose a step.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) I like tang. I like Velcro - but it doesn't taste as good as Tang.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) MY kid has an iphone... eating data like there is no tomorrow. He swears he only uses when connected to wi-FI. I go into this phone and find a setting that has all of his apps selected to use data plan instead of wi-fi. Is this really possible and is this the default setting. I am an android person and it seemed really shady to me and the i[phone seems to like to default to the data plan rather than wi-fi. If he uses Facebook, you have to disable autoplay of videos in the settings or THAT will eat data like mad.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) You do it without fame and money. #oompaloompa
  16. My otter box has saved my screen more times than I can count.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) I keep reading and hearing that Hackenberg looks the part, but just isnt. He hasnt been the same since O'Brien left Perhaps he'll go to the Texans then.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) To be fair, 1948 was the last time Michigan won a national title so they are at least at that level. Michigan won a split title in 1997, didn't they?
  19. Brought up at roster expansion. Struggling at the plate in September (3/26 1 RBI 4 BB 13 K) - hopefully he works on his defense in the offseason and gains his confidence at the plate back.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) This is the fatal flaw with the NFL right now, and it's why it's much less fun for me to watch. 1) The game has evolved to where you need an elite QB, or at least a near-elite QB along with an elite defense, in order to win a championship 2) There is a large talent gap between the #1 and #32 QB in the NFL The net result of those two facts is that about half the teams start each season with absolutely no chance to win the Super Bowl, and of those half, at most three will get the chance to draft a QB in the next draft that will get them out of that bottom half. The Trent Dilfer 2000 Ravens don't compete in this era. The 2010 season showed that the Bears can win with Cutler IF everything else falls into place perfectly, but things aren't going to fall into place perfectly anytime before Jay's age gets to him. The Bears also picked a really bad season to be this bad because I don't see a franchise QB out there. In the link that I posted, you wanted Clausen to be QB. Still feel that way?
  21. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) Here's the thing I don't get about the Cutler hate. Bears fans, as much as any NFL franchise, know how difficult it is to find even a decent NFL QB. Cutler, for all his flaws, is the best QB the Bears have had in my lifetime (one Erik Kramer season in '94 notwithstanding). The Bears had their chances with Cutler. The NFC Championship game being the obvious example. But when the defense was good enough to win titles, the weapons weren't there and the o-line wasn't there. Flacco, to me anyway, is the best case scenario for Cutler. Flacco caught absolute fire for one postseason and got his Super Bowl. Cutler has the tools to put a stretch like that together, but those opportunities are gone with the current state of the defense. As to the contract stuff, average and better NFL QBs make bank. Period. End of story. Yeah, Cutler's contract is for a lot of money, but so is just about every other QB not on a rookie contract, so it's hard to hold the money against either Cutler or the Bears. This was my post last season. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=3070545
