  1. The box office is ignoring U.N.C.L.E.; It's barely made 25 mil in 2 weeks. The NWA and M.I. movies seem to be keeping everyone's attention.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) MLB just needs to end the Coors Field/Denver experiment. When the Mets are looking like the '27 Yankees, something's not right. I think they've been lax on the humidor care the last few years.
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) Saw The Man From UNCLE last night, really enjoyed it. Armie Hammer was great, hope there's a sequel. I am going to see a screening of Sciario early next month too. Guy Ritchie does a great job in making you forget that it's an adaptation from a TV show. Very good movie. The ending felt rushed, but it was a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
  4. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) I'm surprised the White Sox will be wearing those uniforms again. They have to be the worse looking uniforms in White Sox history. After JR bought the team in 1981 he said that he had the most mail from fans requesting the White Sox get new uniforms. They were not only ugly uniforms, they were worn in one of the worse eras in White Sox history, 1976-1980. The only good year of that era was 1977. The rest of the years were HORRIBLE. They wore them in 1981 as well, I believe.
  5. Let's Go Whire Sox! https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e...d55ce5c3035.jpg
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) Kurt Brown (drafted before Bonds), Joel Skinner, Joe Borchard, Josh Fields, Brian Anderson, Jon Rauch, Daryl Boston, KW, Chris Snopek, Mike Caruso, Scott Ruffcorn, Jimmy Hurst, Jeff Abbott, Jeremy Reed, Lorenzo Barcelo, Danny Wright, Jim Parque, Jason Stumm, Kris Honel, Felix Diaz, Arnie Munoz, Miguel Gonzalez, Jerry Owens, Poreda, Royce Ring, Matt Ginter, Keenyn Walker, etc. Barcelo and Caruso came over from SF in the White Flag trade, Skinner came from the Pirates, and Owens from the Expos. Felix Diaz, Arnie Munoz, and Miguel Gonzalez were foreign free agents. Are you just talking about non-star minor leaguers that had a cup of coffee with the Sox?
  7. QUOTE (MEANS @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) give it a try now. Nope. My work computer blocks the image.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Chicago sports radio is irrelevant
  9. QUOTE (MEANS @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) Don't know how many of you follow or have heard of Baseball Card Vandals but look who showed up today.... Don Cooper Can you copy and upload? I can't get it to show up in the link.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) I was thinking today of how its going to be kind of exciting and fun to cheer against the Cubs down the stretch and possibly in the playoffs. I know I dont have the disdain for them as I once did but enough to cheer for their opposing team and enjoy the games. For me, I find their players an interesting watch; especially the young guys. The problem is, I really despise the attitudes of their fans.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 07:15 AM) Former Bears QB Erik Kramer survives a suicide attempt... http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ex-nfl...sources-n412831 Result of brain injuries maybe?
  12. Yahoo confirms to Dodgers for 2 minor leaguers.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) That is not webster's dictionary. I am curious who in the WCW came up with the term "heel" in the first place. Essentially inventing a word vs. using an already existing word. Why not just use the word Villain or something. Note: Looks like it was a take on a slang term used in the rolling 20's. *roaring
  14. "To turn heel" - Go in the opposite direction. You go from one way "good" to the other "bad."
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) Isn't a "heel" a make believe word? How do I know how rrrestling came up with it and whether they meant for it to be heel (as in the heel of your foot) or heal. A shoe/foot "heel" is the correct spelling for a bad guy. "Heal" is just, to make well.
  16. Watched The Maze Runner last night. Seems like the production company/studio wanted to attach itself onto the coattails of The Hunger Games (or Divergent). The plot was basic; it was a rehash of other things (Lord of The Flies, The Minotaur, Harry Potter Goblet of Fire). It was entertaining but one-dimensional. 2 stars our of 5.
  17. 10pm EDT is a brutal start if you have a morning job. :-/
  18. Doing it in Rookie Ball is iffy though. If he was a top prospect in AA or AAA, it might be a more positive impact. Gay male pro athletes need a top guy as an example. Not just borderline guys like Denson, Bean, Burke, Collins, Amaechi, and Sam.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) What medical study could have predicted a stress fracture? Edit: i have read conflicting things. One is that he hurt himself in OTAs, and another that they knew in the combine. If they knew in the combine, then they were stupid to waste a year on a pick. If he hurt himself in OTAs, there isnt anything they could have looked at that would have tipped them off that a stress fracture was coming. He was healthy in college I read a report that said it was speculated that he played injured all last season at West Virginia. Looking for the link... If I read speculation, I'll take back my opinion, but the article seemed very sincere.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 05:25 PM) Not a good way for new GM Ryan Pace to start out. McDonald or White? It seems to be a failure in free agent scouting, player character evaluation, and medical study of potential draft picks.
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) Is he really owed $22mil this year? Holy s***...for a -0.7 WAR. About $9 mil left this year.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) I think they would hand it to Sale first. He probably gives it to LaRoche since he's a grizzled veteran who has never been on a Crosstown Cup winning team. Nah, LaRoche would either miss it or it would slip out of his hands and roll weakly to 1st base.
  23. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) A victory today would clinch the cup, don't know about any ceremony though. I'm glad they got rid of the last one. It was nothing more than a dead, oil-covered pelican.
  24. Hawk has been doing TV for the Sox since I was a kid. He may be over-the-top sometimes, but he's OUR guy. He's not corporate and he's the voice of the fan. Harry Caray was much worse when he did Cubs games.
