  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) 2.28 Mike...oh man, I'm even sadder now. Can one of you guys bring me out a big gas truck at those prices and park it in an abandoned lot so I can use it as my own personal pump. I swear, in Cali, every 3 months a refinery blows up or is shut down and prices immediately skyrocket 50 cents and then take ages to come back down. I am convinced it is people just milking the whole process. Whole reason oil was ever as high as it was had more to do with the hedge fun money / speculators than anything else, imo. I paid $1.68 in April.
  2. Most unsurprising article ever. http://www.letsgotribe.com/2015/8/11/91307...-with-teammates
  3. There are only 6 teams with winning road records this season, and only three are playoff contending. St Louis 31-24 Chicago Cubs 31-24 Texas 32-27 Cleveland 29-26 Kansas City 29-26 Tampa Bay 27-25
  4. Congrats on your first MLB HR!
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) Exactly. You can't have it both ways. If run differential says the Sox have the least talent in the league, then you shouldn't complain about the manager if they are winning more games than they "should". If you're a run differential person, you should want to sign Robin to a lifetime contract. I haven't complained about the management. I'm saying that the roster is poor and Boston is a better franchise because they have more talent. If you want to get technical, yes, Boston has the worst record in the AL right now. If you want to look down the road from now to next year, the WSox (or Cle) are the worst team in the AL.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 02:13 AM) If Hahn can dump Shark, LaRoche, Melky, Robertson, Duke and Lexi I'll be a happy camper for starters. I'm sure that if he gets out his PS4 and MLB'15 he can get right on that.
  7. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) i completed the survey one word to describe my thoughts of the sox was "frustrated" i also said they need to refrain from Loyalty Hires, and just hire the most qualified people That was my one word too.(!)
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) He's so good, he got DFA'd by the worst team in the AL. Boston just has a worse record. The WSox have the worst run differential in the AL (second worst in MLB) and have less talent overall.
  9. He has a good history of success. If he gets released, he'd be a good roster option for the team.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) He isnt a Theo guy though, or is he? Once Baez comes up and plays second and move Russell over to short that may become their best case scenario. Baez's plate discipline and swing are so bad though. At least they were last season.
  11. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) Sox have 3 vet starters at Charlotte: Noesi, Penny, and Drabek. They are eating up innings that could go elsewhere, even though there is little chance of them getting promoted to White Sox. Possible exception is Drabek. With all the young pitchers throughout the minor league system, I see no reason why these three are taking a regular turn, since so many young pitchers could use the innings. I would assume that there aren't any AA guys ready for AAA. Triple-A is a league of re-treads and MLB failures; When Sept 1 happens, they'll shift guys around.
  12. My wife laughed that they chose the weasel from Divergent to be Mr. Fantastic.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) So it appears that Fantastic Four is indeed a trainwreck of epic proportions. Fox really needs to give up on making Fantastic Four movies and let the rights go back to Marvel but I doubt that happens. Hopefully the movie bombs financially in spectacular fashion. All Marvel character movies need to be done by Marvel/Disney - period.
  14. Joel Skinner deserves another MLB job.
  15. There's speculation that Kevin White has been running and playing on shin splints since his last year of college. That's why he's been struggling so much. He's overworked his shins and didn't take the time to rest them.
  16. Saw Minions at the theater last night. Fun movie. I'm sure that I'll be watching it again since my 7-year old daughter loves it. 2.5 stars out of 5 for sheer entertainment purposes.
  17. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Texas cities don't love baseball like Illinois does. Houston Major Sports teams, by Popularity 1) Texans 2) Longhorns 3) Aggies 4) Cowboys (trust me, this is true) 5) Rockets 6) Astros Texas doesn't value baseball like Chicago does. It's a completely different culture. The Astros are not a true major market team. Houston makes the Astros a mid market team. Where do the Oilers/Titans fit in? Are there still old fans there?
  18. Past Sox drafts have almost nothing to do with future drafts. Most of the people involved are totally different.
  19. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) Sounds like the Royals were interested. There is some serious talent in that organization. Probably should have moved Samardzija. At this rate, he's gone at the end of the year and the White Sox will get picks for him, but the FO sucks at drafting the positional talent we desperately need. By the time that the deadline was there, KC had already traded for Cueto, and Cueto is having a better year than Shark.
  20. Insurgent - Saw the first Divergent, the idea is a bit of a rehash, but it was a fun movie. The second one normally is supposed to set up the third movie(s) but it wasn't as good as I expected. It was a muddle of a film and the suspenseful ending really wasn't shocking or interesting. If I had paid $10+ to see it and wasn't a book reader, I would have felt bored and disappointed. 2 stars out of 5
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Kingsmen was awesome so shut up, wrong people. I enjoyed it. The production values weren't high quality though. It looked small-budget.
  22. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) I wouldnt call a $80M movie low budget, especially for a basically original property. (They made the graphic novel to make the movie) That $80 mil was wasted, then. It looked like a TV movie with a few special effects.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) I was thinking they must have, but decided I didn't want to look up. As If I didn't already dislike the Dunn signing enough, haha. If memory serves me right, that was the year we would have taken Walker then with our first pick. The Nats got Alex Meyer for the pick.
  24. Speaking of Ozzie. I'm surprised that Reinsdorf hasn't tried to get him into Latin America operations. He'd be a great ambassador to potential Latin free agents.
  25. Saw Kingsmen last night. Pretty fun but you could tell that it was low-budget. I enjoyed the dark comedy/violence but my wife wasn't that interested. I'd say it's a solid rental - 3.5 stars out of 5.
