  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) But it was a damn good post
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) But Carroll is already in the minors so there would need to be someone else sent down as well? I had forgotten that he was sent down. Scratch that theory.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) What led you to this logic with a different person coming up? Montas seems like a guy that they'd add to the bullpen for the stretch run.
  4. If I had to guess, I'd say that Carroll starts a game, then goes back to AAA.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) and Alfaro. Cause Mike suggested it and thus I will latch onto that idea. Unite the Alfaro brothers! I don't think that Texas would trade both for Q.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) I could get behind this idea Quintana for Gallo? The Rangers won't trade both.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) Though I will say this much. The Ranger could be an interesting partner for the White Sox as they have highly rated prospects at bothy 3B and C. Could a Alfaro and Gallo package get the talks for Q rolling? That could be interesting. I honestly don't believe that the Sox minor league hitting instructors could ever make Gallo a hitter with a better batting eye.
  8. Now some genius Rangers fan blogger that gets his article on Yahoo says that they should trade for Sale. Goooood luck.
  9. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) Like I said in my previous message, the original poster (Pete) is bringing his 9 year old son. Nobody is allowed inside 'Chisox Bar & Grill' under 21 years of age. The entry through the outside apparel/memorabilia store is fairly quick.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:52 AM) Brookfield's a ways out of the city, have you considered Lincoln Park Zoo instead? It's not as big, but it is free. Also the planetarium is incredibly boring, and I say this as someone who's usually interested in space/astronomy. I'd definitely pick Museum of S&I over that. Museum of S&I is great for kids 7-12. The Aquarium is overpriced. Navy Pier is touristy. Field Museum is nice. Planetarium looked boring. Museum of Art was really nice.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) OK, I know most of you live in/near Chicago, but have any of you taken a trip TO Chicago with small kids (7, 5)? We are going for 3 nights in October and am looking for hotel suggestions? In the past when it's just been my wife and I we've just stayed downtown and taken the L and walked everywhere we went, but with the kids I'm wondering if that might be too much for them? We are going to do Brookfield Zoo, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and if we have time the Planetarium or Science and Industry. Essex Inn looks to be close, affordable, and has good ratings.
  12. Watched a couple movies recently. Red 2 - I enjoyed the original movie (apart from them killing off Morgan Freeman's character). The sequel was pretty good. Anthony Hopkins does a great job with a smaller part and you can't go wrong with Catherine Zeta-Jones. I'd say it's a solid 3 out of 5, just for the entertainment of it. Pacific Rim - Fun popcorn movie. The CGI tended to get all muddled, so it was hard to keep the illusion of people in robots fighting monsters. I also had a tough time accepting Charlie Day as a scientist. There were so many deaths, at a certain point, I stopped caring whether the main characters lived or not. 2.5 stars out of 5.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Very dumb. As much as I do love Danks, I concede that is an automatic loss in Game Two Friday. Why would you throw Danks there?? It makes absolutely no sense. I agree with the poster. The Sox are basically in a position they have to sweep the Royals or grudgingly win 3 of the 4 to have any shot at contention this season. So why wouldn't you give it your best shot, at home! You go Sale, Shark, Q, Rodon. I worship John Danks but I do concede he is our fifth starter!! This is a no brainer. Fire whoever came up with this decision NOW! Coop, Robin or Hahn. Stupid. He's a starter on the roster. He has to pitch unles he gets traded or released.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) What to do in Albuquerque? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EEUBDaz19Q These things.

    Jay Bruce

    QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) Yeah I had this thought too. We've had way too many left handed swing and miss power hitters recently. But outside of last year, Bruce has been a far better hitter than Adam Dunn from a BA standpoint. Adam Dunn was better than Sox Adam Dunn prior to his arrival. Who's the last power hitter to actually improve by being on the Sox?

    Jay Bruce

    Bruce has very poor plate discipline and batting average. Is that someone that the Sox need to add?

  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) Hinrich is able to be tolerable enough that I don't mind him playing a few minutes per game in garbage time or on a specific matchup, or being the backup to the backup PG when Rose is injured for a few games. That's somewhat different than 20 minutes + on the court in 3 games against Cleveland and >10 minutes in 5 of the 6. The problem is, is that Hinrich usually gets forced into a bigger role than originally intended because Rose is gaining a consistent history of getting injured for long stretches.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) this is on me and i may be totally off based here. the sox will not do anything with Danks, b/c of, and i am guessing, a deal he made with the danks family. get rid of your agent, sign with the sox with the 2 brothers and the sox will pay you a nice salary.... pretty much like a Sale contract. however Danks got hurt. this is the kind of situation that agents will use against signing favorable team contracts. here is what i been thinking, can the sox go the same route as Keppinger ??? That's ridiculous. If there was such a deal, then Jordan Danks would still be in AAA. Danks will be gone if anyone wants to pay his salary or the Sox get anything substantial back.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) Hinrich isn't awful in that spot. His efficiency was down last year and he lost his confidence, however, he can handle and pass. He isn't quick enough to break guys down like some point guards but their are worse backup PG options their. If other guys develop in the wing, it means less need (and really their should never be a need) for Hinrich to play at the 2. Maybe Hoiberg can get Kirk to be a lil more efficient, etc. That said, Hinrich is pretty old but I think a lot of his game at this point has to do with his confidence. Please note....I realize I'm supposed to hate Hinrich like everyone else here, but alas, I don't. If the Cavs had signed him as a backup, people would be going, how come we couldn't get Hinrich. And I'd be the first to admit that he was lousy last year (so don't think I didn't see it). I meant shoot-first. I really doubt that Bulls fans would miss Hinrich.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) If you do fish up there, keep something in mind. Fishing IN Lake Superior is different than fishing in a small lake or river nearby. You may want to try the latter first. If you go out onto the lake, be careful - Lake Superior can get very angry, very fast. And to fish it well, you need to get out from the shore a bit, find some reefs, etc. You CAN fish from the shore, but won't likely get much. You'll be bringing up fish encased in blocks of ice. I was up there during summer (August) and froze my ass off. I needed long pants/sleeves and a jacket.
  22. they need a good back up PG that will handle and distribute the ball. Every guy that they have now either turns it over frequently, or is shoot-first.
  23. Has there ever been an all-lefty 5 man rotation in MLB?
  24. Hit 101 in the Futures Game. Pretty solid performance.
