Heres another forward I would look at if I were DT... Pierre MacGuire stated that Alex Tanguay has agreed to waive his no trade clause on Friday. Reports speculate that Montreal, Boston are possible destinations for the talented winger who seems to be in a rut in Calgary after being demoted off of Iglinas line. (Huselis replaced his spot on the PP.) Is Suter trying to clear cap space to resign Phaneuf? If so, Tanguay may be had for draft picks, prospects, or expiring contract. He's also going to have to re-sign Langkow and Huselius. He's going to need that cap space, and seeing how Tanguay has one more year, 5.25 million remaining on his contract, it doesn't look like he's a fit with the Flames.

HNIC is stating that DT is shopping Habby to pretty much anyone who will listen. Old news I know but it seems to be getting around he is really trying to deal him. With his poor play and huge contract I have a hard time seeing too many teams being interested.

It sounds iffy because no players are known but it is believed that they are holding off on announcing it until this weekends Cubs Convention. The Cubs have been known to save announcements on signings and such till the Convention. Last year, it was the signing of Jeff Samardjiza, so it is possible. Also, with the signing of Jon Lieber it would make sense they would trade a pitcher like Sean Marshall or Sean Gallagher. More on this as it unfolds...

TIFWIW....I seen this on Ek's forums. According to Ek the hawks are closing in on a deal to land a d-man.Kaberle is one of the names mentioned.Cam Barker + would be going the other way.

This is one thing that concerns me about Colon though... supposedly he isn't interested in a 1 year deal...given they are talking about the Nats here though. Pitching and more pitching: The Nationals would love to have right-hander Bartolo Colon on their pitching staff, but they believe he would not accept a one-year deal. Colon had another injury-plagued season in which he went 6-8 with a 6.34 ERA with the Angels. Colon had right elbow and back problems.

CAMPBELL PUTS TALKS WITH SABRES ON HOLD. THE BUFFALO NEWS: reports today Sabres defenceman Brian Campbell has decided he is finished negotiating with the team until the end of the season. Spector's Note: Hat tip to Paul Kukla. Bad move by the Sabres in my humble opinion. It's believed they could've re-signed Campbell to a five-year, $5 million per season contract. Campbell's value will only rise between now and July 1st, and I suspect he'll test the market to gauge his value. Looks like another potential UFA could be shufflin' out of Buffalo.

I believe Campbell is a +3 with Buffalo and Beauchemin is a -9 with Anaheim....I think Campbell would also be cheaper to get since he is an UFA next season. IIRC
