  1. I was just reading about Wiz saying he actually hurt his knee prior to the fight...he stepped on a stick and "felt a pop" in which doesn't sound good. The last time that happened to me I needed reconstructive surgery and was down for 8 months.... Savard said Wisniewski injured his knee by stepping on a stick before his post-final horn fight with Nashville's Jordin Tootoo. "That's what's incredible," Savard said. "He stepped on a stick and he felt a pop. He was going to go down, but there he goes. There's his will. He got mad. It tells you a lot about him." Wisniewski injured the same knee last season and had spent the summer rehabbing it. "He kept going, which was unbelievable," Seabrook said. "He's a tough kid. He threw some pretty big bombs. We're going to miss him for sure."
  2. Defenseman James Wisniewski injured his knee in a fight at the end of the game and will be out four to six weeks. Funny thing is I didn't even see where he got hurt during that fight. He was whoopin Tootoo and then seen him getting helped off the ice. I thought maybe Tootoo popped him good or something....damn these injuries are going to be a mess for this team.
  3. Hope Wiz didn't get hurt during that fight. Great to see a 4 game win streak!! Hawks are rolling!!
  4. With Jake Peavy, Chris Young, Randy Wolf, Prior and Greg Maddux on board, the rotation is certainly impressive on paper.
  5. That was a very good game and Sharp is playing out of his mind. Nice tip in by Toews on that OT winner.
  6. KW would be smart to go after Roberts harder than anyone else....
  7. This offseason keeps getting better and better.... Seen this on MLBTraderumors.....TIFWIW Nothing Imminent With Orioles Sean Welsh of the Baltimore Examiner spoke to Orioles' president Andy MacPhail, clearing up some rumors that had been buzzing around. MacPhail would be "very surprised" if the Orioles strike deals for Erik Bedard or Brian Roberts before year's end. Welsh says the Cubs are focused on Roberts, while the Reds are still on Bedard's trail.
  8. I would be interested in this deal only because of the supposed prospect that the Sox are said to be getting Bowden... Scouting Report: Bowden is a big righty strikeout starter with ace potential. He is an advanced pitcher for his age, but still has a ways to go to reach his potential. He has an arsenal of four pitches that have the potential to be big-league caliber: a low-90s four-seam fastball which tops out around 95, a 12-6 hard breaking curve, a tight slider, and a developing circle changeup with plus potential. His main pitch, the four-seamer, has a late, heavy sinking movement. Also, Bowden has a two-seamer that is a few mph off of his four-seamer with a bit more movement. His changeup sits in the low 80s, about 10 mph off of his fastball - has room for improvement. His slider sits around 81 mph and curveball in the mid 70s, but he doesn't utilize it all that often. Secondary stuff isn't dominant at this point, and he relies a little too much on his fastball. Overall, Bowden has a very good command of the zone, but could stand to miss a few more bats. One aspect that should come with more experience is improved pitchability against advanced hitters. Delivery is somewhat unconventional, almost 3/4 style, with a leaning motion while dropping his head a bit - but he's able to maintain it throughout his outings. Bowden is said to be a workaholic and just loves to pitch - another player who just lives and dies for baseball. Very athletic.
  9. I would take a one yr deal flyer on Prior and hope he can stay healthy...not likely though but its the old "low risk high reward".
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) Ladies and gentlemen, your next Chicago White Sox General Manager. Hopefully it would be sooner than later....

  12. I wish we could have had a pairing of Rooney and Stoney.....man that would have been sweet.
  13. http://flyers.nhl.com/ Hawks trade Vandy for Eager......who the hell is Eager?? Oh thats right he's a goon.... I sure as hell this isn't that big move... Flyers Acquire Jim Vandermeer from Chicago Philadelphia Flyers Dec 18, 2007, 10:32 PM EST The Philadelphia Flyers today announced that they have acquired 6’1”, 210-pound defenseman Jim Vandermeer from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for left wing Ben Eager, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. Vandermeer, 27, recorded two goals and seven assists for nine points and 44 penalty minutes in 26 games for the Blackhawks this season. He was second on the team in penalty minutes. "Well first of all it strengthens our defense," said Holmgren. "Jimmy is a guy who kind of grew up in our system. Was traded him away a few years ago for Alex Zhamnov, when we really tried to make a Stanley Cup run in 2003-04. We feel that he brings a lot of experience, and he’s been a real good player." Jim Vandermeer has two goals and seven assists for nine points and 44 penalty minutes for Chicago this season. (Getty Images) In 218 career NHL games over the last five seasons with the Flyers and the Blackhawks (2002-03 to 2007-08), Vandermeer has registered 16 goals and 44 assists for 60 points and 323 penalty minutes. He played parts of two seasons with the Flyers (2002-03 and 2003-04), posting eight points (5G,3A) and 52 penalty minutes in 47 games. He was traded by the Flyers, along with the rights to Colin Fraser and Los Angeles’ second round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, to Chicago in exchange for Alex Zhamnov and Washington’s fourth round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft on February 19, 2004. He was originally signed by the Flyers as a free agent on December 21, 2000. Eager, 23, was scoreless with 62 penalty minutes in 23 games for the Flyers this season. His 62 penalty minutes were third on the team. Over parts of three NHL seasons with the Flyers (2005-06 to 2007-08), Eager registered nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points and 313 penalty minutes in 111 regular season games. He was acquired by the Flyers, along with Sean Burke and Branko Radivojevic, from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Mike Comrie on February 9, 2004. He was originally drafted by Phoenix in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
  14. I don't see this happening but ya never know..... White Sox Shopping Cabrera? Just weeks after trading P Jon Garland to the Angels for Orlando Cabrera, the desperate White Sox are not interested in going long term with Cabrera, and are looking to trade him. There are not too many teams I see taking him, but it is possible the Red Sox might be interested. Orlando Cabrera did well with the Red Sox in 2004, batting .294 with 6 HR and 31 RBI in 58 games. The White Sox are looking for a middle infielder like Julio Lugo and are interested in Coco Crisp and might be able to snag both in the Red Sox are willing. Obviously some cash would have to be exchange, but it seems like a fair deal considering the Red Sox have Ellsbury, and Lugo struggled in Boston. I've been talking with a Cubs fans through email who asked me if the Cubs are looking at any shortstops. It is possible they would look at Orlando Cabrera, but highly unlikely. Ryan Theriot did great for the Cubs all year, just struggled in the final weeks of the season. Lou Piniella talked about Theriot as a great situational hitter, and to have that kind of player in the lineup who also comes at a reduced price, definitely helps the team.
  15. Mets Sign Matt Wise According to MetsBlog, the Mets have inked reliever Matt Wise to a one-year deal. Seems solid, adds some depth. Wise, 32, joins his third organization. He's good for 50-60 innings and decent command, though his groundball rate really dropped off in '07.
  16. How vindicated does Canseco feel now??
  17. "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"
  18. Pirates Pulled Out Of Bay To Cleveland Deal Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has some new information for us regarding an aborted Jason Bay deal. Kovacevic says the Bucs made a decision through the entire chain of command that Franklin Gutierrez, Kelly Shoppach, Cliff Lee, and a minor league pitcher wasn't enough for Bay and Ronny Paulino. This situation has been confusing to follow from the start, with plenty of conflicting information floating about. For instance, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes said on Wednesday that Lee and Shoppach were never involved in these talks - the Bucs wanted three to five of the Indians' top prospects. Before that there was that whole business about whether talks had occurred at the Winter Meetings and been revived.
  19. Cubs Like Joe Nathan UPDATE, 12-14-07 at 2:47pm: George Ofman of WSCR radio 670 out of Chicago says the Twins would indeed want Marmol in a deal for Nathan. FROM 12-13-07 at 11:26pm: LENIII has just a single-line teaser for us at the end of his column: The Cubs are interested in trading for closer Joe Nathan if he's available. That's a new one; who knew the Cubs were looking for a closer? Their deficiences seem to be at shortstop and perhaps in the rotation. It seems that some combination of Carlos Marmol, Bob Howry, and Kerry Wood can handle the ninth inning. What would the Cubs have to give up? I'm drawing a blank trying to find a precedent - an elite closer dealt with one year left before free agency. Billy Wagner was dealt in the 2003-04 offseason, but he had two seasons left on his deal. How about Keith Foulke? The A's acquired him with one year left; the White Sox received Daylon Holt, Neal Cotts, and Billy Koch. Maybe the Twins would ask for Marmol plus one more good young player.
  20. I think this could be a huge pick up as long as his elbow is sound....I was reading somewhere that the Rangers were thinking he may need Tommy John though....can't recall where I saw it though. The Rangers also non-tendered Akinori Otsuka. Last we'd heard he was throwing pain-free in October, but maybe the Rangers learned he needed Tommy John after all. (Hat tip to Rangerfans.com).
  21. Sweet Hawks get the PP due to Stuart getting the instigator penalty....Stuart got a misconduct as well also says armstrong got a misconduct too....just now. Must be a rough game going on.
