  1. Its about time... the Bears have enough gaping holes and didn't need another one by letting Briggs go.
  2. Another guy I think KW should maybe look at from the Orioles..Brian Roberts. No idea what they would want for him but he could certainly answer that leadoff spot...and is a decent 2b.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) What is going on with Alexi Ramirez? This is the only thing I have seen on him thus far... Indians Look At Alexei Ramirez Remember Alexei Ramirez, the 26 year-old Cuban defector/shortstop/center fielder? He's a wild card in a terrible shortstop market. He'll soon establish residency in the Dominican Republic, and then he'll be a free agent. It's pretty tough to say how Ramirez would fare in the big leagues. The Indians, always hunting for a good bargain, recently took a look at Ramirez in the DR. The Tribe is hunting for a run-producing left fielder; maybe they like Ramirez in that role. Maybe they just want to build up extra middle infield depth to trade later.
  4. Saw this on WSI Dan Roche of WBZ-TV says the deal is done and will be announced later this evening Sean McAdam on WEEI saying he is hearing the same thing except it will not be announced until Santana is locked up and the Red Sox would get 72 hours to do so. Boston sends Coco Crisp, Jon Lester, Michael Bowden and Jed Lowrie to the Twins. Also The score had this in the update as well.
  5. I was listening to Steve Stone earlier and he said KW should get with the Mets and try to get Carlos Gomez from them. Anyone know much about this kid?
  6. I have a feeling KW has no plan now that Hunter blew him off....hell he could have gotten Delmon Young and was sleeping during that move....yeah I know its early and the sky is falling.
  7. Rincon is suppose to be included in the Delmon Young deal supposedly. Wheeler I have no idea.
  8. Troy Percival To Sign With Rays According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Rays are "moving toward a deal" to sign free agent reliever Troy Percival. This could give them a potentially solid veteran relief group in Juan Rincon, Dan Wheeler, Percival, and Al Reyes. Percival was known to have been seeking a multiyear deal (I'm guessing two years, $10MM or so). Other suitors: Yankees, Brewers, Giants, and Astros.
  9. Funny story about Ruutu.... Ruutu runs into a problem November 28, 2007 A case of mistaken identity turned a post-practice jog into a sticky situation for Blackhawks forward Tuomo Ruutu. Ruutu was detained by Bensenville police Tuesday after taking a jog around a nearby park after practice. There had been an armed robbery near The Edge Ice Arena, and Ruutu, dressed in black Hawks warmups, apparently fit the description of the suspect. ''It wasn't the first time I've been in the wrong place at the wrong time,'' Ruutu said. ''It happens to me all the time.'' Len Ziehm
  10. Only problem is apparently the Red Sawks are asking a ton for Crisp.... Cowley believes the White Sox, meanwhile, will move on to Coco Crisp. They've long had interest in him. I'm not sure how the White Sox and Red Sox would match up though. The Red Sox are asking for quite a bit for Crisp - three prospects. The Rangers balked upon hearing this. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basebal...ticleid=1047493
  11. Any chance the Sox may be looking at Hiroki Kuroda?? I believe he is more of a starter but still is suppose to have one hell of an arm. I would bet no though.. too many teams interested in him.
  12. I almost wouldn't mind if KW took a shot with him... compared to some of the others names thrown out there. It would all depend on what the Cubs were asking for him.
  13. Three articles about the Cubs' Mark Prior situation came out today - Buster Olney, Paul Sullivan, and Gordon Wittenmyer. The Cubs have until December 12th to make a decision one way or another - that date is the last day for teams to offer 2008 contracts to unsigned players. The Cubs may try to keep Prior and see if they can salvage anything. He hasn't taken a big league mound since August 10, 2006, when he got knocked around by the Brewers. What the Cubs don't want is to bring Prior back for 2008, see him rebuild value, and then have him jump ship after the season. Instead they want an option for 2009 tacked on. The least the Cubs can sign him for '08 is $2.86MM. Prior won't be eligible for free agency until after the 2009 season since he accrued no MLB service time this year. So I'm not sure why the Cubs would be terribly concerned with '09 since they would control him for that year anyway. As Buster Olney notes, the Cubs also have the option of trading Prior right now. Then his new team can deal with the contract situation. There's definitely a little bit of low-cost upside there, and the Padres are said to be interested. The third option is to non-tender Prior, which seems dumb to me. It'd be better to keep him around for one more year at $3MM.
  14. I would be really interested to see Havlat with the kids to see what sort of magic they would create but Ruutu has been playing so well with them I would be afraid to disrupt that.
  15. I can't wait to see the impact Havlat is going to have once he is back....heres to hoping he will stay healthy from here on.
  16. Here is one that would solve the LF spot and probably wouldn't take a ton to get either...seen this on mlbtraderumors...TIFWIW Heyman believes the Mets are very willing to trade Lastings Milledge and have discussed him often.
  17. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Until they do something good in the majors, they are just prospects. Get me Miggy! ^^^ Yeah that!!
  18. Tangauy really screwed up on that play to allow Dowell to score.....
  19. QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Fukodome at leadoff? Isn't he a power guy? Scouting Report Fukudome has doubles-power and will likely put up a high OBP in the Majors, but won't slug a lot of home runs.[12] Defensively, he's best suited for right field, but could plug into center if need be.[13] Mike Plugh, of Baseball Prospectus, says that "Fukudome is tailor-made for the Major Leagues. [...] He has patience as well as power to the gaps, a recipe for success, especially if he chooses to play in a ballpark with a spacious outfield." Plugh warns that Fukudome won't hit more than 20 homers, "but 50 doubles is not out of the question[, and] when compared to his [Japanese] peers, [...] his habitual .400+ OBP."[14] One projection system estimates that a 2007 version of Fukudome would put up a .300/.375/.500 line in the Majors.[15] Former New York Yankee third baseman Mike Pagliarulo, now an independent scout, called Fukudome one of Japan's better athletes and said that, "when evaluating the 2007 MLB line-ups, Fukudome could bat fifth in the line-up for 11 of the 30 teams. He projects to the following: .265 AVG, .380 OBP, 20–30 HR, 80–100 RBI and 10 SB." [16] Kosuke Fukudome, 5-tool, 6' 0", 187 lb., right-handed hitting 30 year-old, has for years been considered the most complete and advanced offensive talent in Japanese baseball (think J.D. Drew potential). Fukudome has a fantastic glove and arm in right field, which he often showcases by effortlessly gunning down would-be scorers at home. Fukudome possesses intangibles to go along with his tangibles that would make him an impact player on any major league team. He is among the top in virtually every statistical category. This domination helped lead him to the 2006 league MVP. At this point, he has shown little interest in the majors because his Chunichi Dragons look to contend in 2007, but he has stated that that will change when he earns his free agency after the 2007 season. He will look to make around $15-18 million annually.

  21. Well excuse me for not believing your "gut feelings". I have heard and read the comparisons to Jones sure thats not the most flattering but I have also heard his defense is comparible to Ichiro not so much his offense. Supposedly he is also seeking 3/30 which in this market isn't terrible.
