I would much rather break a bone than tear a ligament any day...

I guess BMac gets to stick with the club for awhile then eh? What a terrible way to have it happen though. Hopefully Buehrle heals quickly...

LA Trades Ishii to Mets for catcher Phillips
EvilJester99 replied to EvilJester99's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Its funny the title to this says Catcher but in the player discription it says he is a 1B... -
VERO BEACH, Fla. -- The New York Mets plugged a hole in their starting rotation Sunday, acquiring left-hander Kazuhisa Ishii from the Los Angeles Dodgers for catcher Jason Phillips. Kazuhisa Ishii Starting Pitcher Los Angeles Dodgers Profile 2004 SEASON STATISTICS GM W L Sv K ERA 31 13 8 0 99 4.71 The Mets traded for Ishii to fill the void created when they lost Steve Trachsel to a back injury this spring. Trachsel, who made 33 starts for New York last season, had surgery Saturday to repair a herniated disc and will miss at least three to six months. Ishii will step into the No. 5 spot in the rotation behind Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, Kris Benson and Victor Zambrano. Ishii went 13-8 with a 4.71 ERA in 31 starts last season for Los Angeles. Often erratic, he walked 98 batters in 172 innings. He is 36-25 with a 4.30 ERA in three seasons with the Dodgers since coming over from Japan. A backup to Mike Piazza with the Mets, Phillips could become the Dodgers' starting catcher. Los Angeles has been looking for an answer behind the plate because neither incumbent David Ross nor newcomer Paul Bako is known for providing much offense. Jason Phillips First Base New York Mets Profile 2004 SEASON STATISTICS GM HR RBI R SB AVG 128 7 34 34 0 .218 Dodgers general manager Paul DePodesta has said Bako will make the 25-man roster out of spring training. Phillips' addition makes Ross' future uncertain. Because of injuries, Phillips got a chance to play regularly with the Mets in 2003 and was a pleasant surprise, hitting .298 with 11 home runs and 58 RBI. But last season his numbers dropped to .218 with seven homers and 34 RBI in 362 at-bats. He is having a terrific spring, leading New York with a .550 batting average (11-for-20). He has one home run, four doubles and nine RBI. Ross also had a breakout season in 2003 but hit just .170 last season. He is hitless in spring training. Ishii is set to make $3.2 million this year with an option for 2006 that can be bought out for $2.2 million. Phillips will earn $339,000 this season.

It just seemed strange to me that one of the "Horses" has only 2 A games thus far in ST. Maybe its nothing of nothing.

Is Freddy hurt or something? I haven't seen him pitch hardly at all. According to WhiteSox.com he has pitched in 2 games. Has he been pitching in B games or what? It just surprises me a little that a guy the Sox are counting on a lot doesn't seem to be getting a lot of work thus far. Any thoughts or info on this??

I would trust my wife to do what's right because shes a nurse and has seen what its like. My parents would be too emotional to make the right choice. Not that my wife wouldn't be but she would understand better.

Bears add former Falcons guard
EvilJester99 replied to WHarris1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This will make a huge difference for the Bears. Actually having guys who can play their positions is a big plus. Kruetz looked terrible because he was trying to do his job and about 3 others as well and was getting killed. The O Line and offense will look a lot better this season...thankfully!! -
El Duque looked his worst that inning...floating up Breakin balls...they were rolling instead of breaking and they just tore him up...hopefully he gets stronger than that.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) They already reassigned Raul to the minor league camp. I seen that, I was just stating that he looked to be a pretty good catching prospect and looked to be a decent hitter as well.
-
The other catcher I thought looked good when I seen him was Casanova. I know he won't have a shot at the big team but in time he may turn into something for the Sox.

A little more than 100 pounds?? f***ing hell I feel huge.

I would say about Jose is I am sure some of the stuff he wrote about is based on truth but mostly it is more than likely embellished quite a bit. It almost has to be just to be an interesting read.
-
Mostly the comments and questions that were asked of the players sounded more like softball type questions and they should have been easily answered. They didn't really nail anyone. They should have drilled Big Mac.

Waxman is trying now to nail Selig about Conseco's abuse of Steriods. When did you learn about his abuse and what did you do to try and solve this and Selig was dancing like crazy to get out of it. They will weasel their way out of it all. I don't even know why I am still watching. This stuff will put you to sleep. Its funny to watch Selig squirm a little bit.
-
Right now the Chairman is drilling one of the guys about the language of the agreement. I don't remember who this guy is he is questioning though...anyone help with this?
-
I don't see how Congress can sit there all day listening to all this damn drivel. It is mind numbingly BORING. Esp. listening to Selig, Fuehr and the others now... they are putting me to sleep with this crap now....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) HEY!!! Congrats man! But you might not want to swear once you get your Pope-hat! But good luck to ya!!! I was wondering if they would take to a beer swilling and sailor like mouth as a pope? I guess I play nice until I get the new hat... then I let it out on em and see how it goes lol
-
Maybe Conseco injected her too Hell then again by the sounds of it who hasn't really hehe

I think it would be great if this could turn into a huge embarrassment for Bud Selig and he is forced out of his position by the owners or his own accord. I know I know wishful thinking but hey a guy can dream right....

Yeah Sammy is clean and I am the next f***ing pope too....
