Thinking of the offer for Aj.... what is the payroll currently at?? Isn't it pretty far under the $72 to $75 million??

Hell most people thought the Sox were nuts for signing a 35 yr old jap pitcher last season... but how did that work out for them?? Signing anyone is pretty much taking a risk. I think it all comes down to how much research you do on that person and how comfortable you are with taking that risk. Thats just me though.

I didn't know where this should go but figured hell it will go here... anyway, I found it interesting that on the Sox home page under rosters. Their depth chart has S Pods playing left and Rowand playing Center. Well Aj is worth the 3 mill so hopefully the Sox will step it up for him. As much as I would like Iguchi if the Sox don't get him but do get Aj, I would very happy with that.

Hell when people are calling to bring back Shoop you know something is wrong... Shea's play calling some suspect to say the least but with that offensive line or lack there of, how much can you do?

Bruce Levine was just on AM 1000 and said Aj is looking for a deal of atleast 3 mill a year and the Sox offer is less...plus he said Iguchi is looking for a 3 yr deal and the Sox have offered a 2 year deal. Take it for what its worth though...

Brewers acquire big bat in Lee Dec. 13: The White Sox' dismantling of their outfield continued Monday. Already resigned to losing all-star Magglio Ordonez to free agency, they traded Carlos Lee to the Brewers for Scott Podsednik, Luis Vizcaino and a player to be named. Lee, 28, gives Milwaukee the righthanded power bat it missed after trading Richie Sexson last December. Geoff Jenkins led the Brewers with 27 homers last season, and their offense finished last in the NL in batting (.248), tied for last in homers (135) and 15th in runs (634). Meanwhile, Lee had the best season of his career, batting .305/.366/.525 with 31 homers, 99 RBI, 11 steals and a franchise-record 28-game hitting streak. His speed and defensive ability are average, and he didn't make an error in 148 games in left field. He'll make $8 million in 2005, and his contract calls for a club option at $8.5 million or a $500,000 buyout in 2006. He's a career .288/.340/.488 hitter with 152 homers and 552 RBI in 880 games. Podsednik, 28, was the runner-up in the National League rookie-of-the-year voting in 2003 and led the majors with 70 steals in 2004, but he otherwise saw his production decline significantly. He hit .244/.313/.364 with 12 homers and 39 RBI in 154 games, and most telling was the fact that he scored just 84 runs. One Brewers official at the winter meetings said Podsednik tried to hit for power too frequently in 2004, which resulted in more homers (he hit nine in 2003) but a worse approach at the plate (his on-base percentage dipped 66 points). A good center fielder with an average arm, he may push Aaron Rowand to an outfield corner in Chicago. Podsednik signed a contract extension in May that will pay him $550,000 in 2005 and $1.9 million in 2006. In 327 major league games, he has hit .275/.343/.400 with 22 homers, 105 RBI and 113 steals. Vizcaino was the Brewers' best setup man and the second key member of the bullpen traded in the last three days, following the deal that sent closer Dan Kolb to the Braves. I work with a guy who is originally from Minny and is a die hard Twins fan. I asked him today if the Sox signed AJ how would he feel? He told me he would hate it if the Sox signed him!! Which in my book makes it even better if they do sign him.

Another thing I am wondering is does anyone think Columbo can or will improve enough to be a starting OL after a full offseason from return? I bet the Bears will take a chance on him....

The funniest thing about the Bears drafting Grossman instead of Leftwich was because the Bears were worried about Leftwich's health. Now look at it, Grossman can't stay healthy and Leftwich has been a stud. As for the draft, if the Bears do trade down hopefully the go strictly O line. Get an O Tackle and guard. You can never go wrong with build a strong O line!!

Hell I don't think its a bad thing at all to not be considered the "Favorite". Seems like everytime the Sox are favored they find a way to piss down their pant legs...
