  1. Can we officially say Robert is done?
  2. What in the hell are you doing, Wegner? Hopefully starting a winning streak.
  3. If he can eat some innings, the Sox should absolutely try to get him. The SP staff is looking very thin right now.
  4. Hopefully Chase will be back soon. Better to give him the rest needed and IL him than have him be day-to-day. Let's see if Dalbec can keep hitting.
  5. I voted for moderate improvement, but even moderate improvement will seem significant.
  6. The Ishbias would not have abandoned their pursuit of the Twins and invested more in the Sox if there wasn't a plan. I think we can all agree nothing is imminent, but articles like this (and others) are written without knowing what is going on, and there's probably some White Sox "leaked" information that isn't 100% truthful. As someone else pointed out earlier, this team under competent ownership could make a lot of money. It's probably going to be a while, but I see this as a positive development.
  7. There are some schlubs on X hinting that Elko is going to be promoted, but they have no evidence other than "there's a source" and Elko wasn't in the lineup. Even if he is promoted, do the Sox admit they were wrong and DFA Vaughn? I don't see it.
  8. I hope he plays Saturday. Against my better judgment, I’ll be at the game.
  9. He looked good in spring training, and I really thought he was going to have a nice year, provided he stayed healthy. But, man, he looks terrible so far. Maybe it's partially the weather, but I don't see much in the way of effort at the plate. He's not doing himself any favors if he's looking to get paid after this season.
  10. His at-bat in the 9th yesterday was the laziest, shittiest approach I've seen from just about anyone.
  11. I'm fine with Narvaez being called up for now. Depending on how long Lee is out, we could see Teel/Quero sooner rather than later. My guess is Thaiss gets most of the starts with Narvaez going against LH pitchers.
  12. Shane Smith woke up this morning asking the same question.
  13. The Crochet trade was only the second major trade Getz made, and the Cease trade is shaping up to be an absolute disaster...unless Thorpe has a Henry Rowengartner like recovery. Right now, the Crochet trade looks to be potentially fair. Meidroth and Teel could be making an impact with the big league club this year, and honestly Meidroth should be starting at SS everyday for the Sox right now. Montgomery could be the best part of the trade, but it'll be a few years before we know for sure. My point is that Getz does not have much of a track record with big trades. His overall track record, at least with player acquisition, is not great. But at least two of Meidroth, Teel, and Montgomery being impactful players for the Sox improves his track record.
  14. I had a feeling the Sox would bring him back. We'll most likely see him up with the Sox soon.
  15. The purported Red Sox one is...horrendous. These certainly have to be fake.
  16. My guess is these are not real. Just a lazy use of the Bulls jersey. This looks more like a giveaway, which would actually be kind of cool.
  17. I was more just watching the game and not listening. Did he say this and then say something about deferring to Stone about being an expert in pitching? I know this guy is a boob, but what a stupid-ass comment. Why try to pick a fight with one of the better accounts for all things pitching?
  18. Seems like a good deal for Crochet, and a good deal for Boston if he stays healthy. There's obviously an injury risk, but he's a damn good pitcher when healthy. Good for him. On paper, the trade looked good for the Sox, so this might actually end up being a win/win. That is, until Teel and/or Montgomery are budding superstars and traded for prospects in a few years.
  19. When the majority of the players in your lineup are platoon guys (at best), it's hard to fault the manager setting the lineup based on handedness. Still, Slater should be playing over Jankowski or Taylor.
  20. The Sox have earned being the laughingstock of the league, and there were a lot of social media posts about the tarp incident. Most were clickbait and/or uninformed posts, and many poked fun at the grounds crew. And I'd be willing to bet most, if not all, authors of the posts never handled an infield tarp in dry conditions, let along during a sever storm with high winds, heavy rain, and fucking hail. Yeah, the Sox deserve mocking, but Roger Bossard and his crew do not.
  21. These bats probably wouldn't be as big a deal if it weren't the Yankees primarily using them. I'm surprised more players/teams aren't using them. During yesterday's game, Steve and John talked a bit about the bats, and they said some players don't care for them. If other teams are really bent out of shape about the Yankees hitting a s%*# ton of home runs while using the bats, maybe they should try using the bats, too. Or maybe, the Brewers just got their asses handed to them by a team flush with power hitters, and now they're pissed. If the bats are legal and will continue to be so, it will be interesting to see if a) the Yankees continue using them a lot, and b) if any other teams start using them.
  22. Yeah, they'll be bad, and there will be losing streaks, but I agree about the offense. We saw at the end of last season what a healthy Benintendi can do. Sosa and Vargas have looked much better, at least through the spring. Robert, if healthy, will do Robert things. Tauchman and Slater should supply some power. And we should see some of the younger guys come up throughout the season.
  23. Venable looks pretty smart having Burke be the opening day starter. I think it was an even riskier move than with Crochet last year. But it paid off. Sure, the Angels are not a great team, but Burke looked good, confident, and fairly sharp. The bullpen looked decent. Murfee may be a great signing, and Booser could be a trade candidate at the deadline. The offense was surprising. Benintendi's hand looks healthy, Slater made a good first impression, Vargas continued his hot start, and Sosa looked great. I know it's only the first game against a meh team, but after last season, we'll take every damn good thing we can get.
