Cordell looks pretty good. Definitely better than Palka, and is so far a better hitter than Engel. It'll be interesting how he does with constant playing time.
-
It seems like Castillo and McCann are getting equal playing time. So far McCann has performed much better. I doubt he keeps it up, but I still think he'll end up better than Castillo.

Great episode this week. Nice set up for the ensuing battle. I have a feeling many of the series regulars will be killed. Some of the deaths are going to surprise us, I'm sure. It's going to interesting to see who is left standing. I would agree, after seeing some other posts, that Brienne, Grey Worm, and Lyanna will bite it soon. Seemed like some pretty blatant foreshadowing.

There’s some exciting talent to watch. Most games have been at least somewhat fun. -

*looks at Castillo’s numbers* They’ll probably both suck. -

My “out there” prediction was that McCann would outperform Castillo. Doesn’t seem so out there now. -

Two bad base running plays. They got lucky there. -

Lopez needs to work on consistency with location, but his pitches are lively today. A promising start considering how poorly the season started for him. -

The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)
hogan873 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Indeed. My son and I talk a lot about how much better Anderson is. He's made some great adjustments, and he's smoking the baseball. That homerun WAS an absolute bomb. I saw it on Twitter and sent the link to my son (in school) and said "Anderson just put a baseball on the moon." He is a very exciting player to watch right now, and the energy he brings makes it even better. -
Jason Benetti's commentary during Anderson vs. Royals
hogan873 replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's a lot of downtime in a baseball game, and Benetti does a good job of filling that time. He can get a bit silly at times, but he's getting better about asking Stone questions to engage a conversation. Hawk got really bad toward the end with leaving the dead air out there, especially when the team was playing bad. -
I'd like to see Martinez as the DH, as well. I could see the Sox at least pursuing Grandal. I like Cordell, but I'm not sure he's the starting RF. Maybe as the 4th OF. Hopefully we'll get a long look at him this season and see what's what. Is this proposed lineup for 2020 or 2021 and beyond? If they draft Vaughn, is there any chance he's playing at the ML level in 2020?
-
Yeah, and I'm okay with it. If they draft Vaughn, he'd, most likely be up in 2021...if he's as potentially good as thought to be. If Abreu doesn't start turning it around soon, I don't see the Sox bringing him back. He's been a slow starter, but he looks especially bad this year. As someone mentioned during the game thread, he looks broken.
-
At this point I don't see him NOT reaching the required PAs. With Abreu struggling, he'll continue to see time in the field and as a DH. And frankly, the Sox don't have better options right now.

The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)
hogan873 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jason and Steve hit it on the head yesterday. What to keep Anderson from celebrating? Keep him off the base paths. Just like in football. Don't want to see a celebration? Don't let them score. -
The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)
hogan873 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Football players celebrate all the time with TDs, big tackles, big runs, etc. Tim celebrated his massive 50th career HR with his teammates. He clearly directed his enthusiasm at his own bench. The Royals took exception to it and retaliated. It should have ended there. With new rules about the "third man in", the benches clearing wouldn't have happened. It was pretty clear that Tim wasn't going to charge the mound. Keep it up, Tim. I love it.
