I have my doubts about Clevinger returning. He pitched well this year, and there will probably be teams out there willing to give him a better deal than the mutual option. Even with his baggage, I think he'll get a multiple year deal from someone.

I think health has always been his biggest issue. He definitely seems healthy now, and he hasn't looked this good for a long time. Let's hope he actually does what he said he'd do and prepare better during the off season.

I think it's easy to look at this and immediately blame the fact that the organization sucks. But this seems more about Colas than anything else. He's not improved after being sent down multiple times and told to work on certain things. Whether it's ability, will, or attitude, he's not doing the things he has been asked to do. I really don't care who plays RF for the remainder of the season. I don't care about the remainder of the season. If Colas isn't going to do what he needs to do to get better (or he's incapable), send him on his way.

I did say it's a big if. Still, he's not going to be one of the biggest problems for this team.

Vaughn is having a better year than the guy he replaced, Jose Abreu. Better BA, power numbers, almost the same number RBIs, and a positive WAR! I think many of us thought they'd have similar years, but Jose's dreadful start gave Vaughn a head start. If (big if, I know) the Vaughn we're seeing now is more like the Vaughn we'll see going forward, I can't complain. If he can be a perennial .265+/25+ HRs/80+ RBIs guy along with playing a serviceable 1B, he'll be far from the biggest problem on the team in 2024 and beyond.

I didn't watch the game. I was half-contemplating turning it on when my daughter called and said she had a flat tire. Since changing a tire in a Ross parking lot could be more fun than watching a Sox game, I ran out the door. Moncada looks like a different player, more like the 2021 version. Maybe he's finally healthy. This Yoan Moncada will be nice to have around in 2024, and with it being his last year before potential free agency, he could have a nice season. It's good to see Vaughn hitting better. His average is trending upward, and he's had some impressive home runs. Figuring Toussaint will be part of the rotation next season, it's nice to see him have a decent outing. He's got great stuff. If he can get better control, he could be a pretty good starting pitcher.

None of this is really Getz's fault. No, he's not qualified, and JR's reasoning behind the promotion is just dumb. But he's in the position now, and he has quite the task ahead of him. As others have stated, if he makes some good hires and surrounds himself with knowledgeable people with experience in winning and building good teams, he'll be better off. Obviously he'll be severely handcuffed on spending. And, sure, the Sox do spend money, like Jerry said. But they spend it on the wrong pieces. A team with a payroll as high as the theirs is should not be nearly as bad as they are. There will be some tough decisions ahead, and hopefully Getz makes some good ones. I just picture him getting cornered at the winter meetings and being bullied by other GMs. Hopefully he has some people with him to make the right trades and go after the right free agents. No friends and family plans to lure bigger free agents. The White Sox have emotionally damaged a lot of us this season. I for one am glad the season is almost over and I can focus on football.

Yep. And the food has been vomit-inducing in 2023. The head chefs were fired. A new chef is here. He needs to fire the cooks, clean up the kitchen, change the menu, start over.

He's got to be more pissed that a team traded for him and then threw him away like nothing.

Getz being the GM is not going to keep the average fan away. Most casual fans don't know not care who is in the front office. Plenty of people will go to games, buy team gear, and in general keep spending money on the team. A continuously subpar product on the field will have an effect on attendance. This season has been one of the worst in a long time. We'll see what happens moving forward.

Getz could gain some instant respect by starting out saying, "Yeah, this s%*# ain't working. The following people are fired..."

Maybe Getz will just announce himself? "I'd like to introduce White Sox fans to the new Head of Baseball Operations." *spins in a circle* "Thanks, Chris. I'm excited to be..."

Jimenez is quietly having a decent year. HIs ground ball rate is atrocious, though. Even Jason and Steve were talking about how bad it is. His power numbers would be much better if he could start hitting the ball in the air. But, he's been surprisingly healthy, his average is up there, and he's been a DH for about 85% of his plate appearances.

With the "hiring" coming from inside the organization, I'd be surprised if Grifol was canned. However, I think Katz has to go. I don't know how much was his fault, but no one was better this year. Cease fell off a cliff, Giolito was spotty and overall not great, Lynn was a BP pitcher. If nothing else, fresh blood and new ideas.

Okay, it is what it is. Let's see what he can (is allowed) to do.

I haven't watched much but a few innings here and there, but Moncada looks a lot better recently. His defense is as good as ever, if not better, and he's looked much more in control at the plate. He'll be part of the team next season, so if this is the guy we'll have patrolling 3B, that's fine.

Clevinger has been one of the best pitchers for the Sox, especially lately. He doesn't do the Sox much good right now, and my first thought was some other team would snatch him up. But with at least the $4M buyout attached, the list of teams who would grab him for the playoffs is pretty slim. As far as Clevinger the man, I don't necessarily have an opinion on the allegations. I know there are plenty of folks who believe everything, and there are much fewer people who believe nothing. Regardless, I think we've always known he's a bit of an asshat. Well before he ended up playing for the Sox, no Sox fan liked him. Now, some Sox fans begrudgingly like him as a pitcher. I don't think his baggage would keep him from being picked up by another team. If a team wants a serviceable guy to eat innings and give the team a chance to win each time he takes the ball, maybe they'd be okay with the money.

Yeah, he definitely needs to show sustained success. But, he looked pretty lost and overpowered previously. Let him get the majority of the starts at 2B going forward and see what he can do in ST.

Luis Robert - Nuff said. Hahn's last gasp as GM actually replenished the farm nicely. There are some very interesting guys added to a few hopeful future stars (Montgomery, Schultz). And let's pause a moment to appreciate the fleecing of the Angels...although that seems more like the Angels making a pretty bad trade. Jesse Scholtens, Gregory "Sleepy" Santos Lenyn Sosa has looked really good since coming back up. 2B should be his to lose next season.

As was Lopez.

My thoughts, too. There will most likely be significant changes (selling, moving, etc.) over the next 5-10 years. Getz could merely be a placeholder to get the Sox to when they are sold. And unless he gets in there and does an amazing job, a new owner would probably make changes.

The majority of White Sox fans don't know or care about the front office. We're on a board with a bunch of folks who know a lot about the Sox, and baseball in general, and are opinionated. While we're pulling out our hair asking why the Sox would promote Chris Getz, most fans will be like, "Didn't he used to play for the Sox?" If 50% of us say we won't support this team anymore (I'm not one of them), and 50% of that 50% actually do stop supporting them team and don't go to another game until JR sells or kicks off, it's not really going to make a difference. The product on the field, outside of major price hikes or drops, will determine how many people show up to the games. The product on the field right now stinks. And that's not just because there's a lack of talent; there's a lack of will, of trying. 2024, no matter who is in the front office, needs to be a clean slate. Build a good team around Robert. Jettison the dead weight. Promote a culture of accountability. If Getz is the guy making the decisions or someone else, I don't care as long as 2023 never fucking happens again.

If JR still owns the team and continuously hides the checkbook in the folds of his belly fat, does it really matter who the president is, or the GM? If it's Getz, and it sounds like it is, we'll just have to wait and see what he does (or is allowed to do). Sure, he's not qualified to lead a real team. But a puppet's only qualification is allowing someone else to stick their hand up their ass and make them talk and wave their arms around.
