  1. Great episode of The Americans last night. It was interesting, though, that they covered an entire story line in one episode where other story lines have been going on for seasons. I'm wondering also if Oleg's actions in Russia are going to interact with what's going on in the US. I'd have to imagine there will something down the line that brings it together.
  2. I understand it's a fine line with someone like Moncada. He's pretty much dominating in AAA, and on the surface it's easy to say bring him up. But, if it's being communicated to him, and he understands, that he should be using this time down there to work on his strikeout rate and defense, he's going to be that much better when he does come up. Plus, I think we can all agree that the Sox, despite the nice start, will not be competing for the division. Bringing Moncada up now may improve the second base situation and add some life to the lineup, but it wouldn't make a big difference in the overall scheme of things. I watched a few innings of Sunday's Knights game. Moncada looked great. It's going to be exciting when he gets the call. We're just going to have to wait a while...and we should be okay with that.
  3. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ May 5, 2017 -> 09:57 PM) Avi? Is that a Ray Donovan reference? Yes.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 3, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Yes, Don Eladio was the guy Gus poisons with the tequila in Breaking Bad. Avi is kind of a dick in Better Call Saul.
  5. This season of American Crime was superb.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 2, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) I could see Melky getting some DH time as well. Less Asche, more Garcias Much less Asche please. And Hawk pronouncing his name like a Japanese competitive eater doesn't make it any better.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) The thing that Vince Gilligan does better than anyone else is subtlety. It continually amazes me how he can pull it off. So many shows have to hit you over the head with a hint or reveeal, but not Gilligan. Couldn't agree more. There were a few strings of minutes with absolutely no dialogue, and there was so much told during that time.
  8. Homeland is excellent this year. I've always enjoyed it, but I'm liking this season more than the past few. The season finale of The Walking Dead was intense. A well-paced 90 minutes.
  9. I'm thinking low 70s for wins. I keep reading that this team is worse than last year's team, which is true, but the team last year under performed in my opinion. So, I wouldn't want to say they'll lose X number of games more than last year. The should lose X number of games more than last year's team SHOULD have lost. I do believe that a new manager and a better clubhouse will make a difference. Not a huge difference by any stretch of the imagination, but a difference. I don't foresee this team competing near the trade deadline, but I hope they're not at that not so magic place where management doesn't make the moves they should. So, figuring that trades are made, we'll see a drop off in wins in August and September.
  10. Hell yes! I don't know if it was the warm winter, but it seemed like the off season was so long. Excited to watch some baseball again and follow the development of the prospects.
  11. The trailer for IT is out. Looks pretty terrifying.
  12. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) Here's a list: "Darren Rovell on Twitter: "BREAKING: @whitesox will have more than 100 beer options at the park this year, including 75 at new "Craft Kave" https://t.co/4v9lFRWCsD"" via http://TeamStre.am by Bleacher Report https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/847074619567853570 That's a nice list. Looking forward to visiting the Craft Kave this season.
  13. Seeing as this is a rebuild year (enter argument of lack of moves here), it makes all the sense in the world to have Moncada start in AAA. There's no reason to have him start with the Sox even though he is starting to really hit the ball. I think it's pretty obvious that he has massive talent, and he very well could be a beast. I'm glad to see him hitting well, and that gives me a lot of confidence for him. His confidence, however, it what matters. Having time to work on cutting down on strikeouts and fine tune some other things will be so important for him. He's a player of the future for the Sox, and he has to handled properly.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) You know what I don't like...how Quinn didn't "fully recover" from last years injuries. I wish he was still the badass he always was. He clearly still has some of the smarts, but he was one of the most badass characters on TV and now he's so hindered. Note: I'm referring to homeland. It is tough seeing Quinn like that, but I'm glad they didn't have him fully recover after essentially being dead. He's still a badass...he just has to go about getting the job done differently. I laughed out loud when he casually shot that person who threw the rock. On a side note, this is one of the better seasons of late. I've enjoyed all of them, but this season almost feels like a reset.
  15. First, congratulations. Having children completely changes your life...for the better. It's the most rewarding thing, and it's also one of the hardest things you'll ever do. I have three kids, and my youngest is 12, so most of the newborn stuff is a distant memory. However, I remember that feeling of being overwhelmed; not so much because of the lack of sleep and whatnot, but because of the thought that we were going to screw it up. But I think Rock's note is pretty accurate. It is difficult, you won't sleep much, you'll be constantly scared for the baby, but when you see that smile and feel that warmth when they fall asleep on you, you'll know there's nothing better than being a parent.
  16. I'm more excited about the team this year than I have been in the past. I've always looked forward to the season starting, but my anticipation has routinely been met with disappointment. The Sox are finally taking the steps toward rebuilding and creating a team for the future. I'm ready. Let's go.
  17. If he's the starting centerfielder and he stays there for most of the season, I could see him doing fairly well. And by fairly well, I don't mean fill the shoes of Adam Eaton. I mean do fairly well for Charlie Tilson. .251 BA, 6 HRs, 39 RBIs, 15 SBs
  18. My wife and I plowed through the first three seasons of Rectify in about 2 weeks. We're now watching the last season on demand. One of the best shows ever. So well written, and every character is developed.
  19. In 90 games... .264 12 HRs 49 RBIs 16 mouth guards
  20. .251/.326/.470 42 HRs 29 2Bs 109 RBIs 10 SBs
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) I never once thought MITHC was going to be sci fi. Guess something happens that you all JUST SPOILED! /runs to room and slams door Just kidding. I don't care. Well it is based on sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick's novel.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) By the way, I'm not even sure Lost & Man in the High Castle are a good comparison...but in both cases, I honestly don't really know where either show is going in terms of how it handles the "alternate" reality or in the case of Lost, what the heck the island, etc was. The Man in The High Castle has handled the sci-fi angle well. It's secondary to the overall story, which is good. I really enjoy the alternate history angle...some fascinating stuff.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 06:00 AM) First two eps were pretty dull. Doubt I'll stick with it. Stick with it. It gets better each episode. The second season is some of the best TV I've seen. The first season lays the groundwork for what happens in the second season.
  24. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 11:13 PM) I'll do my best NYY is apparently very interested in Q and "D Robby", according to sources. According to GM they are not interested at all. Talks are very serious, but they haven't talked at all. The Cubs are going to be competitive for 5 years at least, the Cardinals are just as good or close. Pirates and Yankees 3 team trade. Mariners line up pretty fair. Probably some personal attacks, and warnings for them. We aren't doing an actual rebuild we just wanted to rid the clubhouse of Drake fans. Quintana is very underrated by guys people that don't like Sabermetrics and people that aren't fans of the team. Bregman isn't coming her. Q could or could not be more valuable at the deadline or next off season. I think that covers it Perfect.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) The White Sox are attempting to build something long-term that will be special/sustainable. More importantly they're getting with the damn times. There's still much work to be done. But how can you not be virgin about to lose their virginity excited right now? Moncada will be a superstar. Yes, a SUPERSTAR. WHAT.A.TIME. This is the most excited I've been about this team in a while. They still need to make a few more moves, but from what I've seen so far I'll trust Hahn to do what he needs to do. He won't trade Quintana for the sake of trading him. I imagine the return will be close to the return for Sale. I realize that next year (and most likely 2018) will be rough years when it comes to wins, but the future of this team looks so much better now. The team is going to be set to be a force in 2019 and beyond. It is an exciting time to be a Sox fan.
