Moncada and Grandal are my least favorite players to watch bat. Both at one time were so dangerous at the plate. Now they're both almost sure outs, unproductive outs. Moncada frustrates the shit out of me because he looked so damn good in 2019. He's a shell of that former player, and I honestly don't think we'll see that guy again. As I said, before, though, he's not getting any help from his manager or hitting coach. That has to be a factor, but I just don't know how much of a factor. He might just be broken.

He has power, but he's not tapping into it. He does have a ton of flaws at the plate, flaws that he didn't have in 2019 for sure. That's why I think he can be fixed. But he is really hurting this team right now. Honestly if he can return to even 2021 form, the bat is fine when he provides the defense he does. I'm not saying he will ever be the guy he could and should be. He might be the most frustrating player to watch on this team because of his potential.

His defense is very good at third. I wouldn't mess with that. He still has power, as evidenced by last night's blast. His hitting has fallen off a cliff, though. Some coaching from a real hitting coach would definitely help. Plus, he needs to be more aggressive early in the count. He watches good pitches way too often. Then he either freezes on strikes three or swings at bad pitches.

White Sox Winner w/ Lenyn Sosa's 1st MLB HR !

Martin did a nice job, too. Exactly what we needed him to do. Sosa's first home run and multi-hit game was a cool thing to see. He needs to start almost every game. Leury was absolutely useless yesterday, and he for some reason started both games. Moncada's nice defensive play followed by the big home run was encouraging. We need to see a lot more of that Yoan. -
Sosa’s done it now. He’ll definitely be benched tomorrow for hitting that home run and showing up Tony and Frank.

It's hard to say what his offensive ceiling might be. I think he has plenty of power, and he's shown that he has that power. But, like the rest of the team right now, he's hitting ground balls. The hitting philosophy is so bad with this team that he and others are being robbed of their potential. He's young, so hopefully the Sox go in a different direction at hitting coach and he can turn it around. Under the right hitting coach, and manager for that matter, he could be 25+ HR guy, I think. He needs consistent playing time, and he needs better coaching. Maybe he sacrifices some of his average if he taps into the power. Maybe not. Regardless, I don't think it's fair to say he doesn't have enough power based on his performance this season.

Yeah, it just shows that Jimmy hasn't changed and never will. He'll always be Saul Goodman, scammer.

I think there's a lot of uncertainty around Conforto, but he wants to get back in the game and he has a track record of success. Probably worth the risk for the Sox, especially if signed for a lower salary and he uses 2023 to rebuild his value.

An outfield of Eloy, Robert, and JBJ or Pollock, Robert, and JBJ is better than what we have now. I don't see the Sox picking him up, though, especially considering they'd have to do something with Sheets or Engel.

For me it's price. My family along with my son's girlfriend's family go to one game a year and make a day out of it. We always go on a Sunday because of the price difference. We do the club level, so the price difference is pretty dramatic vs. going on a Saturday. I've gone to some other games and received shirts, bobbleheads, and water bottles, but none of those promotions made me buy tickets for those particular games. It was just luck. That being said, though, I almost bought a ticket for the April 30 game just to get the hockey jersey.

The off season moves were bad, even on paper. The team went into the season really no better than last season, and that's a huge fail. The lack of deadline moves looks really bad. The Athletic gave the Sox an F for their deadline, and that's a fair grade. I'm sure Hahn tried to make some trades, and as it has been mentioned, if other GMs don't like what the Sox have to offer, they're not going to deal. That doesn't excuse Hahn just because other GMs wouldn't play ball. It's his fault the team is constructed the way it is. It's his fault the payroll is one of the higher in baseball with mediocre talent. It's his fault the Sox didn't have the pieces necessary to make impactful moves at the deadline. So, yeah, he needs to go. Not really for the lack of deadline moves but for why moves needed to be made but no moves could be made.

He's looked great. He was featured in a Pitching Ninja tweet after his first outing with the (White) Sox, and there were several comments from obvious Red Sox fans claiming (maybe jokingly) that the video was fake and were quite angry that Diekman didn't look that good while he pitched for them. To get a good lefty bullpen piece for McGuire was a good trade. Maybe takes Hahn's deadline grade from an F to a D-.

What's so frustrating about Moncada is we know he can be better. It's not just about being injured and not 100%. He's got a shit ton of talent and he doesn't seem to be interested in tapping it. I know that it's a perception, and maybe he is trying his hardest. But it certainly doesn't seem like it.

Lance Lynn needs to put his big boy pants on and pitch well tonight. The Sox probably used up most of the runs they were allotted for this series last night. As our optimistic friend Steve Stone keeps saying, the Sox just need to keep winning series. They put themselves in a tough spot by losing Monday. Now they need to go beat a pitcher that's been pretty good lately.

GT 8/2: You'll get nothing and like it
hogan873 replied to CentralChamps21's topic in 2022 Season in Review
With the Twins improving today, the Sox doing nothing, and lackadaisical play, the Sox will soon be far in the Twins rearview mirror.
