7/13-White Sox / Guardians - The Fall of TLR Begins —6:10
hogan873 replied to Vote4Pedro's topic in 2022 Season in Review
Steve Stone has talked multiple times about players that prepare and get to the park early and condition themselves (Abreu). Eloy comes across as a lazy player that doesn’t take the time to prepare himself and keep himself healthy. -

That's A First Place At the Break Is Still Alive White Sox Winner

And he wasn't quite at his best yesterday. His control, although much improved, is still spotty at times. Last night he had a few issues, but is slider was absolutely filthy. He made some good hitters look foolish. -
Grind out at bats, take pitches , protect with 2 strikes
hogan873 replied to tray's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is not a team full of bad hitters. There are some poor offensive players, but overall it's a team of way underachieving guys who are either not being coached well or are not heeding the advice of the coaches. I think it's the former mixed in with piss-poor attitudes. These are professional baseball players being paid a shit ton of money going out there and not even coming close to giving it their all. There's no accountability, no life, no fun. Down by four runs and getting yourself three outs on six pitches is unacceptable performance. And it won't change until something bigger changes. -
Dylan Cease screwed out of All-Star spot
hogan873 replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Cease played for Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers, he'd be an all star. Same goes for Rodon playing for the Giants. Both guys are more deserving than several of the pitchers that did make it. -

This team is so unlikeable. Absolutely no effort, no excitement, just a bad, boring baseball team. -

Agree 100%. I do think, however, today's ball player is different. Not all, but some need that kick in the ass. They need someone to point out that they suck. I am not excusing the players at all. I just think a more heavy-handed approach wouldn't hurt.

No, but there's accountability. I'm not sure Ricky would have been any better at managing the laziness and lack of preparedness we've seen from all three of these guys, but TLR is useless in that regard. This team lacks someone holding the players accountable. A real manager nips in the bud the laziness and half-assed running. A real manager benches Leury and Sheets when they're not performing. A real manager holds the players accountable.

The Bear on Hulu is fantastic. Jeremy Allen White is superb as a highly successful chef taking over the family's hole in the wall restaurant in Chicago. The show has a Shameless vibe, and not just because of White. Constant dialogue (a lot of swearing) that sounds authentic, great acting, and surprisingly good character development for eight 30 minute episodes. Episode 7 looks like, and maybe is, one 20 minute shot that is so intense that I was stressed just watching it. Highly recommend this show.

Remember when we were talking about this season, and we were saying that we'd need key players to be good (not necessarily great) and a few other players to step up in order for the Sox to be what we hoped, which was an easy favorite for the division? And we also said a lot of things would have to go wrong for them to not be contenders? Well, just about everything that could have gone bad has. Injuries and key players performing poorly are big factors, but piss poor managing by the local drunkard has been a huge factor.

Hahn needs to take TLR’s favorite toy (Leury) and trade him away. For nothing, who cares. He’s useless.
-
This team is just going through the motions. No fire, no effort, just lazy baseball. Speaks volumes about the leadership.

You can see Harrison’s hand is still shaking. I’ll be surprised if he finishes the game.

Leury sucks.

Can the White Sox right the ship without making any major moves?
hogan873 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The trouble with even thinking about the Sox making a major move is trusting them to make a good one. Their track record is horrid. With the lack of LH power hitters even available, they'll either A) drastically overpay or B) acquire someone that is not a difference maker. I think option C) not doing anything is safer. -
Both, but probably more of Jose's greatness. Moncada and Robert wince and limp around every time they swing a bat. I think a lot of that is theater/habit, especially with Robert. But Jose would probably have to be missing a leg before he would agree to sit. It's amazing how many guys have hurt themselves, to the point of having to go on the IL, by running to 1st. Jose takes a baseball to the face, a bat to the knee, and still plays.

Mendick, Engel, and (maybe) Robert leave with injuries
hogan873 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
TLR's public statement was that Robert had leg soreness or something like that, specifying that was why he didn't stretch his last hit into a double. I'm thinking he was pulled because of a lack of hustle, and Tony gave him a public excuse.
