  1. I haven't either, but I've turned them off due to the announcer. The Sox have two great PBP announcers now. Both TV and radio should be good listens.
  2. It's so frustrating knowing that if everyone just wore a mask, the virus could be contained rather quickly. It won't go away, obviously, but the chances of people infecting others goes way down. We could wear masks until the vaccine is ready and available. Infection rates would drop off quickly if everyone started wearing masks today. It's a shame that wearing a mask has become a political issue. Where I work, it had to be stated in an email to everyone that regardless of the politicization of masks, everyone is required to wear them. We still have some non-conformers, but not many. And we haven't had any confirmed cases where someone got sick from someone else here.
  3. I don't listen to Sox games very often, but I've liked Kasper when I've watched Cubs games (rooting against the Cubs...unless they were playing an AL Central rival). I like him and think he'll be great as the play-by-play guy with DJ.
  4. Schwarber struggled (comically, at times) in LF. Is there any thought he could play an even somewhat effective RF? Robert would be running his ass off, and probably getting hurt, with Eloy in one corner and Schwarber in the other. However, Schwarber could deposit quite a few baseballs onto the Goose Island.
  5. If the Sox don't sign Springer, what is the next best solution to RF? Rosario? Joc/Engel? JBJ? Dahl? Someone else? What's more important - Offense or defense from the position?
  6. Rosario wouldn't necessarily have to be a platoon partner, but you'd give up some defense over a Joc/Engel platoon. I think I'd still take Rosario.
  7. It's amazing to me that news outlets, including MSNBC and CNN, are still spending more time talking about Trump and his ludicrous attempts to overturn the election than time talking about COVID and the new administration. Trump is getting exactly what he wants right now: Attention and money from his clueless sheep. The news conference with the GA election official needs to be a wakeup call to the GOP. People are being threatened with their lives for doing their damn jobs. People's families are being threatened. This shit would never had happened with a real Republican president/candidate. Could you imagine this happening when McCain or Romney lost? Now we have a majority of the GOP either remaining silent or actively supporting Trump. And we have many Democrats just wagging their fingers saying, "Hey, that's not right." Someone is going to get hurt or killed over this. When will someone wake the fuck up and stand up to the tantrum-throwing infant lame duck president?
  8. You can play with numbers from any states, especially the swing states, and see how Biden won. If PA and MI had gone to Trump along with say GA, Trump would have won. But in that case you're talking about 250,000+ votes. I get what the author of the tweet is saying, though. The electoral college is ridiculous and needs to be abolished.
  9. Springer has to be the main target for the Sox, but Rosario wouldn't be a bad silver medal. Offensively, for sure, he'd be decent. But with him in RF and Eloy in LF, Robert would be working his ass off all season. And would be more of an injury threat because of it. If I'm catching the thoughts correctly here, Rosario wouldn't necessarily be a platoon partner with Engel but Joc would be. But the defense would be much better with a Joc/Engel platoon than with Rosario. Hopefully none of this becomes an issue, and the Sox sign Springer.
  10. It's not so much about believing this guy (or the other food-related Twitter accounts), it's pretty much common knowledge that those three teams are in the hunt for Springer. And, there's a good chance the teams that miss out on Springer will look at JBJ. I think the Sox have a chance to sign Springer, especially if they offer a 5th year. They showed last year that they're not afraid to offer big contracts (Wheeler), and Springer is a damn near perfect fit for this team. If Springer signs elsewhere, we'll find out that the Sox put an offer out there that was really competitive.
  11. Al's Cheesy Beef and Portillo's care. They care who they are. And now I'm hungry.
  12. If Cruz is using, he'll only be caught if the Sox sign him in the off season. "Slugger Nelson Cruz, who just signed a one year deal with the White Sox, was suspended today after testing positive for PEDs. The Sox have reportedly reached out to former teammate Mark Teahan to fill the DH hole left after Cruz's suspension."
  13. If the Rays did indeed ask for Robert, I'm sure Hahn hung up before they even finished saying his last name. Stone may know something, and if the price is Robert, there's no way the Sox even consider that.
  14. Trump is now retweeting the rantings of Randy Quaid, who is claiming widespread fraud and is also demanding a paper-only, in-person-only re-vote. Did anyone have that on their 2020 election bingo card?
  15. Seems odd the the Rays are looking to trade Snell. His remaining contract is a bargain for the type of pitcher he is. Because of that, though, I think the cost would be too high for the Sox to trade for him.
  16. Michigan certified the election today, 3-0. One person did not vote.
  17. Still quite encouraging. Now there are three vaccines with 70%+ effectiveness based on trials. Six months ago, a year ago, this was probably a dream scenario.
  18. Quarantined at home for two weeks because a coworker tested positive. We were about 5 feet from each other for about 20 minutes (both wearing masks). I know the chances of catching it are low, but now I sweat every cough, sneeze, sniffle...essentially if I don’t feel 100% I get nervous.
  19. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Trump refuses to go to the inauguration and may have to be forcefully removed from the White House. And I also wouldn't be surprised if he just disappears sometime before January 20th and refuses to say anything. Regardless, I don't think this will be like any other transfer of power. As Trump would say, "unlike anything the world has never seen before."
  20. Trump is getting exactly what he wants: attention. The election is over, and Biden will be sworn in on January 20. All this nonsense with the lawsuits and dumbass electors refusing to certify the election is just that - nonsense. But all of the news agencies are talking about Trump, still. And they're not talking about Biden and Harris and what they are working on. Every 60 minute show on MSNBC and CNN is 35 minutes of Trump talk, 15 minutes of commercials, 5 minutes of COVID talk, and 5 minutes of talk about the next president.
  21. I can see both sides of the Madrigal debate. Personally, I think the errors are less of an indicator of the type of baseball player he'll be than his abilities at the plate. However, I think his spot would be the easiest to fill if he were traded. There are plenty of decent to good stop gap players available, and if trading Madrigal gets you the SP you need, you pull the trigger.
  22. I've seen several people comment that he played for LaRussa. I don't put a lot of stock into that being a factor in his hiring. He played for quite a few managers in his career, including Cito Gaston, Dusty Baker, Larry Rothschild, Don Baylor, Joe Torre, Charlie Manuel, and Jim Riggleman (twice). The pitching and bench coach hires have been encouraging. If the Sox go out and have a productive off season and fill the necessary holes, LaRussa will be a minor concern moving forward.

Three Floyd's Gumballhead is one of my favorites, especially on tap.
  24. I definitely feel better about it now that two companies have developed apparent very effective and safe vaccines. And one, Pfizer, is not associated with Operation Warp Speed. If everything goes as expected (approval, ramped up production, etc.), I would feel fine about getting the vaccine. And I'll encourage my family to do the same.
  25. I like the idea of a Darvish trade, although I'm not sure of the likelihood of a Cubs/Sox trade. I saw someone else mention a package of Darvish and Heyward. That would take a lot of money off the Cubs' books and essentially fill two holes for the Sox. While Darvish is a steal with his remaining contract, Heyward is not so much. I think any deal like that would require some money to change hands.
