  1. I expect a trade to happen today, and I think the Sox will land a starting pitcher. There seems to be some noise around more than one player being acquired, and I would't mind seeing an outfielder or bullpen piece joining the team. Purely my speculation, but Morrow might be the most likely and Clevinger the least likely. However, I won't be shocked if it's a pitcher we haven't really discussed.
  2. I’ve got SoxTalk on my phone and Twitter on my iPad. Refreshing constantly. This is an exciting and stressful time.
  3. Dear lord, could you imagine a rotation of Giolito, Keuchel, Cease, Clevinger, and Dunning?
  4. After what I’ve seen from Dunning, I don’t want to see him traded. If one of him, Kopech, or Stievers will be traded, I think Dunning needs to remain a Sox.
  5. That run is on Eloy. Incredibly lazy effort going after that ball.
  6. Maybe the only good thing about no fans is the ability to quickly change game times to avoid weather.
  7. Jason is good and getting better at the play by play stuff, and his humor makes it fun. Steve is extremely knowledgeable about baseball, and his analyses are great. I like when Jason asks Steve what he'd do in certain situations, what pitch he'd throw, etc. I truly enjoy listening to them.
  8. As someone else pointed out, this team went years with the catcher position being a black hole. After Pierzynski, the Sox used Castillo, Narvaez, Smith, Flowers, Soto, Navarro, Sanchez, Brantly, Phegley, Gonzalez, and Anderson. And I think we all remember that track record. Now they have one of the best catching duos in the league. McCann is showing that last year may not have been a fluke, and he's incredibly valuable at calling games. I don't know what the Sox will do with McCann, but I can't imagine they won't try hard to re-sign him. They may end up over-paying him, at least in comparison to what another team may be willing to spend. But he'll probably be worth it to this team.
  9. Wrap Eloy in bubble wrap and tell him not to move for a day or so.
  10. Lynn is only singed through 2021. I'd hate to give up much for him. DeGrom would be nice, but he's making a lot of money over the next few years. Regardless, I think another SP is what the Sox need to target.
  11. For as big as Eloy is, he seems so fragile.
  12. My son and I are die hard fans, and we were glued to the TV. My wife and daughters are fans but don't watch/pay attention much to the games on TV. We were all literally on the edge of our seats for the 9th. When that ball came off the bat and was slicing towards RF, I thought for sure it was a hit. If Mazara was out there, it probably would have been. Engel made it look easy. Lots of good stuff last night on top of Giolito's masterpiece. Tim's play and Jose's stretch saved the no hitter for sure. Mendick made a couple nice plays. And McCann is just awesome. He and Giolito make an incredible battery. That was easily the most fun (and stressful) time I've had watching a game in a long time.
  13. Loved Grandal’s swag on the HR. What a blast. Jose just keeps getting better. Eloy’s destruction on the Cubs is awesome. Robert is just a superior baseball player.
  14. Stone with another dig at Renteria, saying that the Tigers’ coaching staff sees the same thing he is.
  15. I'm not sure I had seen her before, but yeah, she's pretty hot.
  16. Maybe it's similar to smacking your funny bone? So, it's called a zinger? Or maybe he was just saying that Robert had a Hostess snack after hurting himself.
  17. I agree. Giving the guy the take sign is dumb. What other reason besides "Let's take it easy on the other guys" would he be given the take sign? Not because there was risk of him getting an out.
  18. It was a bit slow, but it was good for character introduction. The appearance of the monsters after 50 minutes was like when From Dusk Till Dawn became a gory vampire movie all of the sudden.
  19. Absolutely ridiculous that Tatis Jr was expected to apologize for hitting a grand slam on a 3-0 count with a big lead. Maybe the other team shouldn't have walked the bases loaded with one of the best hitters in baseball due up. Bauer is right in his tweet. Apologizing for being good is so stupid, and I can see why people hate baseball. This isn't freaking little league. To hell with their feelings.
  20. Lovecraft Country on HBO is batshit crazy, and that's a compliment. The first episode follows the book pretty well, and the monsters are very well done. There are moments that are tough to watch, when the show gets serious about the racism of the '50s. What's really scary is that we're seeing some of these things happening now.
  21. My power was out all last week, so I didn't get to watch a game until Sunday. Nice two games to watch. Anderson is the real deal. Robert is possibly not human. Moncada is so good, but it seems like he's got more...like being as good as he is seems effortless. There are some exciting young pitchers in the bullpen. Gio looked really good. His breaking stuff was really sharp. I'll take a start like that every time from him (maybe another inning, though). Hitting is contagious.
  22. Imagine signing Quintana to a decent deal. The Sox would end up with him, Jimenez, and Cease. I don't know what kind of money he'd command, though.
  23. *insert attendance joke here regarding the Sox never having a home field advantage anyway*
  24. Gotta take the series and get back over .500. Dallas' b****-out seemed to light a fire. Maybe in the future, when the team is sucking, all the manager will have to say is, "Just wait until Dallas gets home."
