  1. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) I remember threads back in '05 where the consensious was Joe Crede while great defensively, would never be a decent third baseman because he couldn't hit. Crede invented the infield pop up, he was so slow if a man was on first it was a guaranteed double play. Things like that. Really the same type of criticism Beckham gets now. We tend to be cynical about some of our players when there here, then love them once they're gone. This has some truth to it. I used to call him Joe and 2. It seemed like every time he was up to bat, that was the count after two pitches. His swing was long and slow, but he did come around and really tuned in late in ball games.
  2. Crede hit when it mattered... or at least appeared to always come though when it mattered most. Beckham is slowly becoming not an automatic out. The only thing comparable to the two right now is their defense, although I think Crede edges him there too.
  3. -1990 has a special place in my heart. Even though they finished like 10 games back, it was a great summer! -93 they finally broke past the A's and Twins. -I loved the 2000 team, lot's of two out thunder! -I even loved watching the 08 team with Swisher's crazy antics.
  4. Stone is superior to Wimpy at analyzing a game in every way, save one: keeping me entertained. The bottom line is it's an entertainment business they're in. Of course I grew up on The Wimperoo so I'm completely biased. Stone is very good at what he does even though it feels like he's just spouting off stats half the time. His pitching insight is excellent. He's IMO, leaps and bounds above DJ. BUT Wimpy's Wimpy. I love Hawk and Wimpy.... warts and all.
  5. Trade everyone now! Dunn, Peavy, and Rio's value will never be higher!
  6. How many golf balls does Wimpy owe Hawk?
  7. They peaked last week. It's .500 or below from here out. Try to move Dunn, Rios, and Peavy while/if they can.
  8. Light 'Em Up! Hopefully, they take 3 outta 4.
  9. OHMAN! Seriously why is he in the poll?
  10. AJ belting homers and throwing people out? PED's ?!?
  11. IMO- the number of bad games aren't as important as the number of bad games in a row. You can have a bad day at the plate every odd day if you're killing it the even ones.
  12. Does anyone even know if his wife and kids live in town? Maybe they only visit and live wherever his winter home is.
  13. I was ready to come online to proclaim my love for this team when it fell apart. Last night felt just like an old "grinder" type of win. Just good enough to get guys out and taking advantage of mistakes. Still kind of shocked on the three late homers. Oh well, let's get back in the win column.
  14. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) Maybe he really wasn't that good to begin with This is the truth. He had a couple good months three years ago! Suddenly he was the future "face" of the franchise and "untouchable"! He looks worse then ever. This guy's bat is pure hamburgers. Not to mention he's my pick to click everyday because I think he's due. The guy's costing me! SEND HIM DOWN!
  15. At least the "U" is in HD on directv now! I hope Humber's not rusty.
  16. Are they wearing the red jerseys to go along with Jackie's number?
  17. That. Was. AWESOME! Floyd gives up 4-6 runs in the 2nd and/or 6th the last few years. He pitched his rear off! Great pitching, good defense, timely hitting..... me likey!
  18. Rookie making his first MLB start vs the Sox... and a lefty to boot? DISASTER Time to prove those days are over.
  19. Wait? What?? Game's on CSN not Fox. Hawk and Stone Pony. Sucks being an out-o-towner, been there done that.
  20. I think Dunn in the three hole has a lot to do with moving AJ out of the two spot. Hopefully Morel, unlike Beckham, can take advantage of the opportunity.
  21. Without clicking the link, I'm going to pretend it's #24 in all of sports. Number 24 ..... YES!
  22. How many Texans have had the chance to be the first Texan to beat Texas in Texas on Opening Day?
  23. Edwin would fit right in with the Boston staff. Slooooooowwwww workers galore! I hated watching the games he pitched.
