I'm starting to hate Shark

Cant watch much more. Fire him already!

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) This is really bad in all aspects of the game yet again. Also, Milone has thrown 54 pitches, and 44 of them have been 87 mph fastballs, yet we have one hit and it's a bunt. Good lord. A lefty with a change-up = no chance for the White Sox ever

QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) They're walking Arcia for Suzuki? What is going on? This manager is what's going on. He's clueless and lifeless I don't know which is worse.

I've never hated a team so early in the season. So far, I hate this team AND their manager.
-
We're about right on pace for Robin to be gone by June.

Q deserved it, but it doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things. Just would have rather it gone to a guy who has earned his keep with this team.

Sox Could Break Camp with 8 Relievers
Butter Parque replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 11:57 PM) Yuck. How often is the 8th man in the pen going to pitch in April? You're going to get rained out at least once, and the schedule is soft anyways with several off days. Makes zero sense IMO. Better to have a legit outfield defensive replacement rather than carry a extra reliever. I don't get the move. Robin spoke about not over-exerting the starters early in the season. Thats all well and good, but why not then just keep Carroll as your long-man and 7th reliever? By doing so, you protect yourself in the event Noesi or Danks gets bombed, while also keeping the rest of the pen fresh for the other starters. -
Latest Vegas odds for regular season wins
Butter Parque replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) So here's what people constantly seem to forget. When these entities set odds, and set O/U wins, that is NOT them saying what is actually most likely to occur. You need to think of setting betting lines of all types as similar to pricing in any other business. That means the level of demand plays a role. Now when you talk to people in Vegas, they will tell you there are certain teams who will always get a LOT of bets on the "buys side", most specifically the Cubs, Red Sox and Yankees. What that means is, they don't have to give odds or lines that are as good for those teams. In other words, if they think the Cubs O/U is really like 75 wins, they may for example set it at 80 anyway. It gives them more room for error, and likely does very little to decrease the number of people putting down money. Same thing happens with odds, where maybe they are 40-1 but they'll set them at 30-1 instead. You just have to remember these are businesses looking to make money off the bets. Their ultimate goal is not to accurately predict an outcome - that is a contributing factor, not a final result. I bet college basketball religiously. Everything you are say is true. At the same time, its hard to argue with Vegas' numbers because they come in quite close, quite often. On a daily basis, I watch it in amazement as they come dangerously close on Toledo-Miami (OH). Vegas is not putting the Sox at 80 if they do not believe they will be right around that number. if you are trying to get even money on both sides, the best way to do it is to be accurate. And Vegas is quite good at that. having said that, I think anything below 86 wins would be a huge disappointment. -
Terry Collins is way too high

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) Yeah as you would be clearing like 20 mill off the books moving Viciedo and Danks Unfortunately, I don't think they have a reliever good enough to get a team to take on all of Danks's salary.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) I don't think it would be. My idea was that they would attach a good reliever with him to be able to clear all of Danks salary without having to pay any And then that money would pay for a LF or RF?
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:26 PM) I could see that too. I can see Webb on his way out with Danks to acquire a LFer. Not a Webb fan. Wouldn't have a problem with it. I just hope its not Crawford.

Carson Smith come on down. Wishful thinking

White Sox acquire Dan Jennings for Andre Rienzo
Butter Parque replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Its concerning that he gets hit at such a high rate. Was he just really lucky last season? Would seem like an obvious regression candidate. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 03:51 AM) I'd give up Anderson + for him. Would you do Anderson, Danish, Wheeler, C. Rondon for Dickerson?
-
This is my biggest concern on the team. I thought they needed to address the defensive deficiencies at 3B and a corner OF spot. Its great that Shark is here but if they can't catch the ball, what difference does it make? I think it is imperative that Gillaspie is platooned, not just because of his deficiencies hitting LHP, but to also keep his glove off of the field more often. Give me a solid glove-average bat in LF or RF, along with a decent platoon at 3B who can pick it and then I become serious about this team making a run at it.

Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:50 AM) Anderson will be in it. Why do you say that? If you ask me, it always seems as if Billy Beane gets less than expected when unloading players. -

I'd be more tan fine with that although Micah intrigues me greatly -

Just please no Tim Anderson. Also would really like to hold onto Danish. I could live with Hawkins going. -

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) The Yankees are going to go with a purely defensive shortstop, to replace Jeter. In trading for Gregorius, they have pretty much decided to accept the fact that SS will not provide any significant offense. That approach would be fine with me, as far as our Sox go. I really still don't know just how good Alexei is defensively, at this point in his career. We have gone round and round on this board, and I don't sense that there is any consensus. Let me ask the question this way; If the Sox could fill another major hole, by trading Ramirez, is there anyone who could fill his shoes, defensively? A few of you seemed to think that Saladino is the best defensive SS, who is reasonably close to Major League ready. That surprises me, as I didn't think that he was more than an average SS. L. Garcia is supposed to be pretty good with the leather, but his offense is pretty much a "black hole". Although scouting reports say that Diaz is a good defensive SS, with a very good arm, everyone here completely dismissed the notion that he might get regular playing time, if Alexei is traded. Semien is not a plus defender, and Sanchez is much better suited for 2ND. I'm interested in this issue, because it still seems quite feasible that the front office could view Ramirez as one of their only good trading "chips". With all of the middle infielders this organization has, it's pretty disappointing if none of them are good enough to fill the hole at SS, that would be created by the departure of Alexei, especially if we are only talking about a really good defensive SS, with little consideration to offensive production. If the Sox could acquire a middle of the order bat, for that last outfield spot, is it really that important if they get much production out of SS? The Yankees don't seem to mind going that route, and they have bigger shoes to fill than the Sox would, if Alexei left. Ramirez has been good, but he isn't the icon that Jeter has been in N.Y. We all know that Jeter was not really a very good defensive SS, in recent years. Nevertheless, it is N. Y. and they are replacing a "legend" with a "no hit", defensive wizard. Im not sure thats entirely the case regarding the Yankees. If it was, why not just use Brendan Ryan everyday at SS and keep Shane Greene? Gregorius has the ability/potential to hit righties. -
I'd love to sign Alexi Ogando on a 1 or 2 year deal. He had some arm trouble last season but was apparently healthy enough to pitch in winter ball. He also pitched better than his numbers indicate last season.

Please don't make this happen. We're just starting to build the farm system back to a respectable level... -
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) Can't go wrong with Moss or Reddick but I've always liked Reddick. Isn't Reddick a pretty good RF? Yes he is, but he doesn't play a lot and he doesn't walk much. Hard to count on him.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) Pardon my lack of knowledge regarding Perderson, but is he a guy who would be in the Sox's outfield in 2015 if he were acquired? Or would he need some time in AAA? He'd most likely be in the OF, barring a collapse in ST I think.
