  1. Anyone know anything about Kevin Escorcia from the DSL? It looks like he's 18/19 years old. I believe he was signed for a $50,000 bonus by Marco Paddy in 2012. Seems to have gotten off to a good start in the DSL. Any chance he makes it over to the states for rookie ball?
  2. Certainly creates the possibility to sign the Mizzou kid.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 04:55 AM) Yes. You don't get points for being smarter than Ventura in your head. Everyone here are the greatest hindsight managers in baseball. Any great choice is exactly what they should have done. And bad choice is something they would have never done. It's just tiresome to see. Oh please I've defended Ventura since he's been here. This was pathetic though. Why do our pitcher HAVE to throw 100 pitches at all cost? He didn't need to. He had a relatively easy 7 and the game was in hand. Let on of the pigs in the pen handle the last 6 outs and you still have a fresh bullpen to tomorrow.
  4. This is pathetic. I petition we start out with an extra run each game due to our manager's utter incompetence. I've defended Ventura for a long to e but this was indefensible
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 04:48 AM) Sale should have absolutely started the 8th. All you people yelling and screaming about it AFTER THE FACT don't get any points from me. Were all of you saying he should be taken out after 7 innings when it actually happened? I must have missed that. But Sale should have never stuck around the face Trout, or really any batter after Alexei's error, that much should have been obvious. Why, because we didnt say it here. ? Frankly I shut the ipad off and was ready for bed. I never thought for a seco d he would come out for the 8th. It was obvious he was laboring through the 7th. Cooper and Ventura just lost the game and let our ace throw an extra 25 useless, yet high-stress pitches for absolutely no reason.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 04:46 AM) I thought the same. But figured he would get the chance to pitch a clean 8th and be taken out after one batter reached. But what do I know. There was absolutely no reason for that. Save his arm. The game was already over.
  7. This was a fireable offense. It's one thing to screw up, everyone does, but he just pulled a hatchet job on our ace. He basically threw 120 pitches for no reason. How could anyone in that dugout be okay with him coming out for the 8th.
  8. Good job Robin. Great job leaving him in there. He did everything he needed to do thrue 7. You couldn't see he was done in the 7th? Please resign after the game.
  9. He's gonna be at120 pitches once again. You really can't make this stuff up. Horrid managing. Almost fireable.
  10. Some of the worst managing I've ever seen. Why did he come back out for the 8th? Was it worth it robin. He's thrown an extra 20 pitches for zero outs. Why couldn't we go Putnam-Webb and go home? Why did Sale HAVE to throw 100? Why couldn't he have an easy night? Stupid
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Unless they're higher contact/pitch count elevating guys with good walk rates/plate discipline. They don't chase after toolsy, athletic guys like Trout or Buxton if their K rates are too high....thinking the majority of those guys bust, and it's better to take elevated floor/lower risk players. So they wouldn't have taken Jared Mitchell or Courney Hawkins, but may have considered Keenyn Walker due to his walk rate.
  12. A's Article I could read about the way the A's go about their business all day everyday. I found it interesting that their draft philosophy completely goes against the philosophy of the White Sox. According to them, they don't care about tools and don't chase potential stars.
  13. If Jeff Hoffman is still there in round 2, don't you have to take him if you're the Sox? That's great value (albeit delayed)
  14. Sometimes people just get on Ventura merely for the hell of it. My God, we're talking about a day off! Yes,he said he would give him a day off (or maybe 2), and yes, he hasn't given him that day off as of yet. And...So what? He was also supposed to be off the game he hit the 3 run homer against Oakland. His ankle isn't going to spontaneously combust from playing these games. After all, he was off on THURSDAY!!!! Can we not criticize Ventura for one freaking game (a game we won, mind you)?
  15. I'd like to see Semien down in AAA, playing everyday at 1 position. He didn't spend a lot of time there last year and at times he looks completely overwhelmed at the plate in the big leagues. Why is the organization so against letting him mature and improve in AAA?
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 04:53 AM) We got 1 pitcher making over 5 mil. He's afraid to pay them. Probably not a good thing. Flushed that 4 mill for Downs straight down the toilet. Don't pay free agent lefty specialists
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 04:44 AM) We were? I just re-read the thread from opening day about him being named closer. Yes, most on there liked the move and thought it was smart.
  18. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 04:43 AM) Oh hey, now I'll use some offspeed pitches and strike guys out...garbage like this is what makes guys like Lindstrom so annoying and frustrating. There was a large contingent on this board who liked the move. I've hated Lindstrom since his Marlins days. He was a gas can then, just as he is now.
  19. For everyone blaming Ventura for having Lindstrom as the closer still, you were all the same ones who loved the move as a means of boosting his trade value. Who else in that hell-hole of a bullpen do you want in the closer role? You'd all hate Belisario the same way Dodger fans do once he gets his chance at it. Face it, there are no options; Putnam is our best reliever.
  20. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 06:47 PM) Kay. I'm not taking what he says as gospel but I'm not going to ignore it either. He's certainly seen much more of Hawkins then you or I. That also doesn't mean he knows what he's looking at.
  21. I just want them to still have a chance in July. Here's to being competitive!
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 02:40 PM) Because of his relatively young age, being lefthanded, being able to play CF (unlike Choo) and the fact that there are just so few appealing OF options on the market, Rasmus is going to easily get $100-125 million if he has another 850ish OPS year. It would be even more shocking at this point to see Thompson put it all together, but stranger things have happened. With all the disappointment surrounding our minor league outfielders the last couple of seasons, sooner or later one of them almost has to break through by the law of averages. I think it will be moot. I think its highly unlikely he puts up another .840 OPS again.
  23. I don't understand the fascination with Rasmus. He had a very solid year last year, but I would say a lot depends upon how he does this year. I don't think there should be any foregone conclusion that he's the player Hahn should zero in on.
  24. I have no problem with this. he seems to have more potential than Flowers/Phegley. Only problem is that it could stunt his development. The ideal option is to work out a trade with the Nats.
