  1. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 01:30 AM) I would rather see Veal out there. He impressed me when he was called up earlier. And if he gave it up you'd be cursing Robin for putting in someone like Veal there. Let's face it, you want to go with a three man bullpen the rest of the way. Completely practical.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 01:29 AM) Let's turn to the guy with the .354BAA and 7.15ERA in the second half for our important outs. Who else ya got? You can;t use the same two relievers, both of whom are up there in age, every single game. We only play close games, at some point you stick him out there and say pull your weight and do your job.
  3. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 01:26 AM) Just got home. Matt Thornton is just terrible right now. I agree he hasn't been good at all, but the guy gave up one hit. It's not the end of the world. He also got 2 outs. Cut him a little bit of slack. If not him, then who? I know I don;t wanna see guys like Jones or Septimo in that situation, so unless you want to go with Veal, you have no choice. He may not be ideal anymore, but he is the best we have.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 01:24 AM) At some point, you have to get outs from someone other than Crain and Myers. In other words, Thornton has to be used in this situation. So you want to use Myers and Crain everyday until the season ends. That'll work.
  5. You can't use Myers everyday and no one else has any ideas of who else they want to pitch
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 01:22 AM) If our path to the playoffs requires Thornton then we are f***ed. It does. Make of it what you will. Who else, besides Myers are you going to turn to in the pen?
  7. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 01:20 AM) When it comes to managing a bullpen, yes I do. He's a moron. Its easy to play monday morning quarterback, but you also need more than one set up man in this league
  8. If we can;t get anything out of Thornton, we're not going to the playoffs anyway.
  9. I'm pretty sure for each loss this year there has been a post that reads "this one is on Ventura"
  10. You realize the bullpen has been overused lately?
  11. AJ has been s*** at blocking balls in the dirt this year.
  12. you don't unless you're convinced he can't repeat it
  13. Where are all the people saying we would probably never see first place again after Detroit? It's a long season and we've proven to play with heart and resiliency. We'll be in it at the end.
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 03:10 AM) I dont think he can do it for a whole season. If he continues to pitch like he has in the first half you can quote this and put this in your sig. Ill gladly eat crow. No one in their right mind is expecting him to do that for a whole season. No one can; that's not the point. He can, however, be a very good pitcher for us this year and for years to come if he locates his pitches the way we've seen he's capable of.
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 03:07 AM) Sometimes Big Bang Theory. But tonight it was Hells Kitchen and Master Chef. Not to be too personal, but do you actually see the games on Extra Innings or mlb.tv?
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 03:06 AM) A good defense doesnt mean much if he misses his spots like that. He needs to hit them consistently. He has done that up until this game. Lets not crown him anything yet. Coming into the game he allowed a homer every 2 starts. He let one player beat him on 2 bad pitches. It does happen in sports. They aren't robots. I don't understand why you think they're supposed to be perfect every night and if their not, then they suck.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 03:01 AM) I frankly dont care what you think about what Im saying. Block me if you find it annoying. I don't want to block, I just want you to know what you're watching every night.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 03:00 AM) See I dont think we found a diamond in the rough. I think to much has to go right for Quintana to pitch as well as he has been. I think he was lucky to be as successful as he has been. Obviously there's been some luck to it, not a lot of pitchers throw up a 2 ERA, but he also throws strikes consistently, plays behind a very good defense, lets his fielders make plays, and has a really good cutter that he's not afraid to throw inside, as well as some pretty good moxie for a pitcher his age. Anyone who doesn;t know that they're seeing a pretty good young pitcher is nuts.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) Well you would be incorrect they arent fact. Then say that it's you're opinion, don't come on every night and say things like, "This is the Quintana we'll see the rest of the year" It's pessimistic, annoying, and uses absolutely no sound logic.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) When did I say I have evidence for this? You come on here and make these statements every night like they're fact, so I'm just wondering how you come to these conclusions.
  21. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:52 AM) Who cares about the last 2 months? Thats in the past. The is live. Do you really go through life with that mindset? That's kinda insane. And annoying for this venue.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:48 AM) This is probably what we will see from Quintana for the rest of the year. What actual evidence can you present as to why this will be the case. You spew out hyperbole all over these game threads every single night.
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:46 AM) Thanks Quintana. You're really annoying sometimes
  24. You are all overreacting. It's a long season. Do you all remember Houston? You go through s*** like this over the course of 162 games. They're hot, we're not. We've been hot when they've been cold. It happens. Relax, it's July.
