  1. Koskie was terrible last year and they still won.
  2. How was I whooping it up on Illinois, I said they made a great run. Whatever. Anyway, here's what i took from the game. Both teams desperately missed their two injured/sick players in different ways. UNC needed McCants' 3 pointers/jump shot and Duke needed Dockery's aggresive defense, quickness, and ball-handling skills. It was defenitely the most intense and physical game I've seen in a long long time. I think the officiating could have been better for both sides. It looked as if Nelson touched the ball out of bounce(even though I believe Ewing lost it on that posession) and UNC should not have been granted a timeout when nobody had posession of the ball. As a Duke fan, I come out of it sad that we lost, but kind of happy with how we played. To go on the road and have the #2 team on their backs with 20 seconds left is pretty good. UNC was able to sneak one out, but both teams deserved to win it. I think Coach K should give this team a ton of rest before the ACC tournament and then I think we'll probably win it. I was somewhat bewildered by what happened to Redick after he was on fire in the first half. Gotta give it up to UNC and specifically Sean May, he was a monster out there and it was a complete joy to watch him and Williams go at it. I'm out now, See ya Palehosefan in the Conference tournament championship!!!!! GO DUKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. OK Illinois fans, step aside now as we view the greatest rivalry in collge basketball, Duke at North Carolina. Felton vs. Ewing!!! Redick vs. Manuel Williams vs. May!!!!! IT'S AWESOME BAAYBEE WITH A CAPITAL A!!!!!!
  4. What a game by Dials, thats a guy I would love to have on Duke. Anyway, the guy I thought came up small in the end was Deron Williams. He made a couple of nice passes, but otherwise was very quiet in the 2nd half. What a run though that Illinois made this season, I guess the basketball gods didn't think you deserved to be undefeated though.
  5. Alright Palehosefan, lets go ahead and post our predictions for the Duke/UNC game on Sunday. Duke-86 UNC-85 in OT. Losing McCants hurts you (even though, he's your best offensive player, he only scored like 2 points in the first game anyway, so I don't what the difference will be. We'll be without Dockery who can run the point, and is arguably our best on-the ball defender. Should be an unbelievable game
  6. Duke pretty much knocks out Miami from the tournament with total domination. Redick with 29 and Ewing with 14 pts and 10 assists in his final home game. Adios Reggie Love Adios Daniel Ewing
  7. Wow, i was right on with what I thought he would be: Not much of a shooter Pressure defender Quarterback of the offense Good Hustler Coaches Dream Good for Chris!!!
  8. I haven't seen many Bulls games this year, how has Chris Duhon done? Is he almost as good as Ben Gordon?
  9. So your saying that Duke creampuffs their non-conference schedule. You're right. Very Good. Now put some logic into it; if Duke was in the Big Ten, do you think they would be creampuffing their schedule? I don't think so. If you think about it, Duke would wear themselves out before conference play if they put together a hard non-conference schedule, then they would have to go through the rigors of the ACC. Is that fair? Why should a team in the best conference in the country, also have to play top ten teams outside of the conference. It's obvious that no one hear will ever give Duke a pass on anything because they're hated so much. people just look for things to get on them about. if Indiana was in the ACC, do you actually think they would have packed their schedule? I don't think so. I want to set the record straight on something else, I never said Duke was better then Illinois. I do think Duke has a shot at beating them though. I give all the credit in the world to an undefeated team. They had a tough non-conference schedule and got through it well. To me though, they look like a slightly better 03-04 Stanford team. They did well in non-conference and won in an easy conference schedule, then when the tournament began, they were out before you knew it. I think Illinois is better then them, but I don't see them winning the National Championship. I think they'll get to the Elite Eight or the Final Four. Think about how hard it will be for them to keep this streak alive and get into the final four. How many teams do that? I don't think, from watching numerous games of their's this year, that they are the best team I've seen in years or decades.
  10. I still think the Sox should go into the season with 12 pitchers instead of 11. Kepp the bullpen rested as well ast the starters. Plus, Adkins deserves to make the team, and I believe it's a mistake to stretch him again, his stuff is best suited for middle relief.
  11. He has to know that no one is asking him to replace maggs, if he hits .280-.290 with 20 HR's and 80 RBI's, everyone is gonna be fine with that.
  12. Meant to say that Virginia was my disgrace of the conference. I think Virginia Tech has been the surprise of the conference and has a shot to make the tournament. I never said that Duke was better then Illinois. I said that the ACC was better then the Big ten by a lot. I also believe that Duke could beat Illinois in the tournament. I just don't believe that Augustine could match up with Williams inside. I also keep hearing people say that Illinois non-conference schedule was so tough, and thats correct. But I also keep hearing people say that Duke's non-conference schedule is weak. Now I sak why should Duke have to play a tough non-conference shedule whwn they play a brutal conference schedule? Illinois is the team that has to play a tough non-conference schedule because they play practically nobody in their conference.
  13. It's gonna be tough for Indiana to get in with a 14-11 record. Maybe if they were able to beat Michigan State on the road. They have to go into Wisconsin and win or put up a good showing in the Big ten Tournament.
  14. Illinois Challenging Games Gonzaga W 89-72 Wake Forest W 91-73 Cincinnati W 67-45 at Wisconsin W 75-65 at Michigan State W 81-68 Wisconsin W 70-59 at Iowa W 75-65 Minnesota W 89-66 at Georgetown W 74-59 Total=9 Duke Challngeing Opponents Michigan State W 81-74 Oklahoma W 78-67 at NC State W 86-74 at Miami W 92-83 Maryland L 66-75 at Wake Forest L 89-92 North Carolina W 71-70 at Maryland L 92-99 Wake Forest W 102-92 at Georgia Tech W 60-56 at North Carolina TBD Total=11 You could even throw in home against Iowa if you'd like since you just barely beat them. I left out home against Georgia Tech, away against Virginia Tech which we lost, I guess you could even throw in home gainst Miami since they have a good chance to make the tournament.
  15. That guy was saying that the Big Ten could hold it's own against the ACC, thats not even close to being true.
  16. So basically what you are syaing is that Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, Northwestern, a healthy Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana could match up with Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Virginia, and Miami? Your absolutely crazy if you honestly believe that. The only team that has really struggled is a young Florida State team. Going to Clemson can give you problems and I guarantee they could beat most teams on that list. Virginia Tech has had a dissapointing season and are the disgrace of the conference as far as I am concerned, but how can you say that these teams would lose to Penn State, Minnesota, Michigan, and Purdue. How can you say that the RPI takes a hit because Illinois has played bad Mid-Major Teams. What does that mean? Why doesn't Illinois think thy're good enough to beat a good mid-major? To have your RPI high, you have to play good teams, both from major conferences and mid-majors. You have to play teams like Davidson, Princeton, and Temple to keep your RPI up. You know that you have a good chance of winning those games, but if you don't show up, you could be going home with your tail between your legs. I think the most accurate examples of why the ACC is much better then the Big Ten shows up in November, when the Big ten/ACC Challenge takes place. Wake Forest 73 Illinois 91 Ohio State 73 Clemson 80 Virginia 48 Northwestern 44 North Carolina 70 Indiana 63 Michigan 68 Georgia Tech 99 Maryland 64 Wisconsin 69 Florida State 70 Minnesota 69 Michigan State 74 Duke 81 I rest my case
  17. If you actually believe that the Big Ten is even close to as good even with Michigan and Iowa, then you have completely lost your mind. First off, bot have run crooked programs to put themselves in the positions they are in. 2nd off, the Big Ten isn't even half the conference that the ACC is. If Georgia Tech, NC State, or Maryland was in the Big ten, I guarantee that they would have at least 20 wins by now. Like I said before, it's damn near impossible to win on the road in the ACC. This season in the ACC has been weird because good teams are just beating each other up and it's taken a toll on everyone's records. If these teams were separated from each other, it's obvious everyone's records would be much better. The fact is, is that Illinois' SOS is 48th. Is it fair to Duke to have to play a tough non-conference schedule and then play a brutal conference shedule? As for your 1st paragraph, I posted that res[ect thing a long time ago, this was regarding Duke getting the respect they always get over the years and Illinois wanting more respect. Duke deserves it for what they've done year after year. Illinois hasn't won anything.
  18. Obviously you didn't read prior posts. It said why would Duke be getting respect every year. It gets respect because of it's past and present. It's always a final four contender, whether they have the best talent or the worst talent becuase when it comes down to it, they just win. As for your remark that Duke's quality wins have come at home. First, we beat Oklahoma at the Garden. We beat Georgia Tech both at home and on the road, we beat NC State on the road, we haven't played North Carolina on the road yet, and we only lost by 3, with a chance to win it, against Wake on the road. Those are called quality wins. It's not like we get to face Northwestern twice a year, or Penn State, or Michigan State, or Purdue, or Minnesoata, or Ohio State. It's damn near impossible for an ACC team to have a .500 conference road record.
  19. 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!! THATS HOW YOU EARN RESPECT Come back when Illinois gets one! Until Illinois proves that it deserves to be respected like basketball gods, why should they. Sure a perfect record is unbelievable, especially when you've beaten some quality opponents, but your SOS is 48th, and you play in one of (if not), thee weakest major conference in college basketball. You haven't won your conference tournament yet, you haven't gone into the NCAA's yet, for all anyone knows, you could be this year's Stanford. With Duke, everyone knows that they are going to be major players in the tournament. They've won 3 championships, and this year have beaten: Michigan State North Carolina Wake Forest Georgia Tech 2x Virginia Tech Miami Oklahoma North Carolina State If Illinois came into the ACC, how many road games would they win, they'd be lucky just like everyone else in the conference, to stay at .500
