I wan to deal with Oakland because I think they have some good chips, but I want Huson the most, and then I want to somehow squeeze Dotel out of them as well. We make him the set-up man and if Shingo falters, then you make him the closer. I would be willing to give up a couple B-level prospects fo him.

I've finished the Nominees and Categories for the Awards and her's a few hints of what to expect for anyone who's interested and/or anxious: Projected Tightest Categories: White Sox MVP, Best Hitter, Biggest Disappoinment, Rookie of the Year, Fan Favorite, Best Game Hardest Decisions: Putting in Jon Adkins instead of Ross Gload for the last spot in "Breakthrough Performer", Deciding on a 5th "Best Sox Hitter', I wanted to put Konerko in "Biggest Surprise Player" but got squeezed out by Jamie Burke, Not putting Damaso marte in "Biggest Disappointment", Narrowing down the "best game" and "best play" categories. Players and amount of Nominations C- Ben Davis: 1x Jamie Burke: 2x 1B- Paul Konerko: 3x Ross Gload: 2x 2B- Juan Uribe: 5x Willie Harris: 1x SS: Jose Valentin: 2x 3B: Joe Crede: 1x OF: Carl Everett: 0 Nominations Timo Perez: 0 Nominations Aaron Rowand: 5x Joe Borchard: 1x Carlos Lee: 2x SP: Mark Buehrle: 3x Freddy Garcia: 2x Jose Contreras: 2x Jon Garland: 2x Jason Grilli: 1x Felix Diaz: 1x RP: Neal Cotts: 2x Jon Adkins: 3x Cliff Politte: 1x Damaso Marte: 1x Shingo Takatsu: 7x

Since we had some problems with the sub-forum, everythings fine now and the awards have been set for this Friday and they'll end Saturday night. The winners will be shown on Sunday. Thanks for your patience. BP

I don't see us contending until Kenny Williams is fired. It fine to make tins of moves, but you have to make the right ones and he hasn't done it. He took over a team that finished 1st and he hasn't brought us back there yet. Something has to give with him.

Guess I overlooked that Johnson mistake

VERY INFORMATIVE!!!!

it sucks, but it's my first one so whatever

I don't get why everyone is happy that the sox didn't match the Giants' offer for Vizquel. I heard a lot of the money was deferred anyway, so who cares.
-
Well so far the Sox offseason has started slow. They tagreted Omar Vizquel heavy, but were outbid. Christian Guzman seemed like a good plan B, but chose the worst franchise in sports instead. It was rumored that the Sox were in the maret for a closer. Percival seemed likely. He chose to go to a team that finished behind us in the division. Now what? Unless the Sox are planning on spending big money this offseason (Cabrera, Beltran, Benitez, Renteria), It seems that the Sox have struck out early. Granted it's still very early in the offseason and there's plenty of time for signings and trades, but now might be the time for the Sox to get going. Optimism this offseason should still be felt, but who hears has a feeling that this whole winter could turn out to be a big bust? C'mon Kenny, get a move on it.

How do you get you sigs from photoshop onto Soxtalk?
-
I don't understand why everyone hates this guy so much. is it that he was a minny player and your jealous? Personally, he's not my first choice to be on the Sox, but Visquel is gone. I think Guzman is best on turf, but it won't be that big of a difference. Granted his OBP is just plane terrible, but uribe's isn't anything great either. he's a nice fielder. He can steal some bases, and I just feel he could be a good player on the Southside. I wouldn't overpay for him though.

Just give me your answer instead of your F***ing, witty s***!

What do you think we would have to give up more for? Johnson or Hudson I think we can give up Konerko and a prospect for Hudson. This is a pipe dream but if we were able to trade Lee and Konerko to Oakland for lets say Hudson, Dotel, and and a mid-level prospect. it wouldn't happen though because Oakland would never take on 16 million dollars for next season. For Johnson, I see Arizona wanting Lee over Konerko. We would have to give up Lee, Garland, and Munoz. I would rather have Hudson, and I'd be willing to give up extra for him, only if he's willing to negotiate on a contract extension.
-
My ideal offseason would be Cabrera, Hudson for Konerko, Benitez, Jermaine Dye, and Luis castillo for Carlos Lee, but these things just won't happen.
-
I don't think of it as our dream season either but when you think about it, you get your SS in Visquel, you get Hernandez who can be a good middle reliever who puts up some quality innings and bridges to marte and shingo. You also get Dye who has the possibility of having a feast in ouyr ballpark. Alvarez is the biggest question mark and I don't want him.
-
Lets say the Sox offseason is more quiet then we anticipate and we're only able to land a few mediocre players, what would you think? Let's say the White Sox sign these players: White Sox sign Jermaine Dye White Sox sign Omar Visquel White Sox sign Wilson Alvarez White Sox sign Roberto Hernandez How would you respond to something like that? I think when you look at it, it seems disgusting, but when you analyze it, it's not as bad as it looks.
-
Why don't they offer this deal without the prospects included for Tim Hudson. At least he's only 29.
-
I'd rank it: Bobby Crosby Zack Greinke Madrisich Shingo
-
I'd take Cabrera to be my 2-hole hitter and play SS anyday.
-
Thats what I've been saying. i'd do the trade in a heartbeat. The only guy I'd be reluctant to give up is Willie because of his potential to become a Castillo-like ballplayer.
-
Hey if they want to throw in a prospect, thats fine with me, but don't expect Mota in a trade like this. I know we all want to rip off the other teams, but when trades are made, they seem fair. It's years after that we find out who got the better of the deal.
