Which Player Will Be Talked About The Most

I think people on these boards have to start understanding that no big-name free agent would ever want to come to the Chicago White Sox. I'm surprised anyone outside of Chicago even knows who they are. (obviously I do) I think people need to realize that no one cares about a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 2000. Why would a big-name free agent want to come to a team like this. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but from an out-of-towner like myself, you guys have to realize that nobody really can give 2 craps about the white sox.

So far I've seen a lot of Magglio, PK, and Willie Harris. Its weird that we're talking so much about willie. Who else will we start talking about on a consistent basis?
-
I'll let everyone else answer this statement for me, Jeckle.
-
What the hell does that mean?
-
Whoa, somebody's gotta cork stuck in their ass.
-
Those f's better not steal him from us. On a good note, if their scouts like him, then he has something left in his tank. You can always use the twins organization as a bar for hown good someone is.
-
I saw the dismissal of Rafeal Santana on these boards a couple of weeks ago. I think i even saw it in the tribune. I'm pretty sure that it's a fact. Anyway, it's a great move. You gotta love Rock!

I don't know, Hoffman just seems like a more secure option. It would suck if a guy like Troy Percival comes in and becomes a Billy Koch and could barely hit 92 mph with his fastball. You don't have to worry about that with Hoffman, because he's a pitcher, not a thrower. On a good day, Hoffman could get up to 90mph on the gun.
-
The only thing that Percival has on Hoffman is his age. its startling to see that Hoffman is 37 years old because he shows no signs of slowing down. Here's why I would choose Hoffman over Percival: 1) Better career save percentage 2) The ability to pitch more innings in a season consistently. 3) Better WHIP (You don't want runners on base when your trying to close out a game. 4) Better career ERA 5) The ability to comeback strong after serious injury concerns. 6) Better K/BB ratio 7) Holds opponents to a lower OBP 8) Percival is still battling a serious hip injury. 9) Not by much, but Hoffman does give up less HR's which is very important, both are not GB pitchers, so thats a washout. 10) Hoffman just abuses RH hitters That' why I want Trevor Hoffman. Give me your reasons for wanting Troy Percival.

I don't understand how anyone can say that this starting staff is set. This is the same pitching that failed us last year and wouldn't step-up when our offense was down. I don't want Freddy garcia to be my ace because he's not one. I don't want Mark Buehrle to be my ace becuase he's not one. If you can't get an ace, at least compliment the staff with another quality picher. If the staff stays the same, our record stays the same, simple as that.

2 Points: 1) I don't give a s*** about how Carlos Zambrano acts. he's 1 Million times better then Jon garland. 2) yeah, Jason Marquis reminds me a lot of Jon Garland, only successfull.

I think some of those ideas are pretty good. On the offensive side, I wouldn't really change that much. I would love to acquire Furcal in maybe a Lee, Konerko for Furcal, Cruz, Eli Marrero, and maybe a prospect; but the odds of that happening aren't that good. Visquel is a more likely option and I believe is the 2nd best option to Furcal. He could come in cheap for 1-2 years and maybe stabalize the SS position. I'm not asking for an all-star performance, all we need is an adequate bat and a solid glove from him and i thonk he can more then likely do that. Other then getting a SS, I don't see them getting anyone else on offense. As for the starting pitching, I wish the Sox would wake up and realize their rotation is average. Garcia is no ace and Buehrle (at this point in his career) is too inconsistent to be one. I'm not asking for an ace but they need a bridge to go from the top of the rotation to the back-end. Thats why I believe that radke is the guy. He's perfect for that role and could possibly flourish doing it. If they don't want to attack the pitching side of the fee agent market, then I guess they should acquire someone for either Lee or Konerko. I love Pineiro (granted he's healthy) to be a guy on this staff. He's not a fly-ball or ground-ball pitcher and challenges every hitter he faces. he doesn't give up many home-runs and could balance the rotation. I'm trying to recall the trade proposal that someone sent Seattle, and they turned it down because they didn't want to include Pineiro. I know it was someone good though. So from this, it seems unlikely that they would give up a healthy Pineiro for a guy of Konerko or Lee's caliber. Like they say hitting wins games, pitching wins championships. You don't trade good pitching for good hitting and I don't care who it is. As for the bullpen, i think more changes need to take place then you think. A better bullpen would have won us plenty more games. I totally disagree with the acquisition of Troy Percival. I just don't trust him enough to sign him to a multi-million dollar deal. I would love to have Hoffman but it seems unlikely for him to leave the West Coast, where he loves it. I don't expect him to be back in SD, it could be likely for him to go to Oakland, where they can either make Dotel the set-up man or possibly trade him. (hmmmm... Interesting) Percival is a likely option, but it would be a mistake.

I know it isn't pretty, but if you think about it, its probably the most realistic lineup posted. We can all imagine these trades and everything, but the odds of them happening are slim to none. Yeah it's close to no way that we get Beltran, but I believe that he's the guy we're attacking the most in the FA market and he'd be the guy to send lee out of town. The key to that lineup (Konerko'less lineup) is the guys who have come up in our system and sat here and done nothing. Its those guys who have to step up and, In my opinion, decide how our offense will operate. We got ourselves into this mess, with our s***-ass scouts, now we're going to have to get ourselves out of it.
-
My bad, i was suppose to put either Everett or Gload in left, not right. My mistake.
-
Richie Sexson from Arizona. I am pretty sure he's unrestricted. he could be a good pick-up. He was out for the year with the shoulder injury. All of this is pending on whether he's healthy or not. If the Sox are seriously going to look at him, he could come cheaper then many think. Then you could have Sexson at 1st, and you could trade Konerko away.
-
Who would play instead of Everett? Borchard, please tell me your not putting Borchard in instead of Everett. As to a prior post, I never said that it was automatic that we would get Beltran. I said that if we were able to land Beltran, that we would probably trade Lee. I don't think the Sox have a very good shot at all to get him, but you never know. maybe JR pulls an Albert Belle out of his ass.
-
A lot of this depends on who gets traded or if anyone gets traded. I think if the Sox can't land Beltran or any other big Outfielder, that Konerko will be traded. If they get Beltran, then Lee is a gonner. I also believe that if either one is traded, it will be for pitching. 1- Willie Harris (2B) 2- Omar Visquel (SS) 3- Carlos Lee (LF) 4- Frank Thomas (DH) 5- Aaron Rowand (CF) 6- Carl Everett (RF) 7- Joe Crede (3B) 8- Ross Gload (1B) 9- Jamie Burke © You could put Rowand in the 2 hole and Visquel leading off but I think Visquel is best in the 2-hole, Rowand is not a true leadoff hitter, and if Willie can't be a leadoof hitter for us, then why is he here? I also think Burke wins the starting catcher job in ST. * Lineup if Lee is traded 1- Willie Harris (2B) 2- Aaron Rowand (RF) 3- Carlos Beltran (CF) 4- Frank Thomas (DH) 5- Paul Konerko (1B) 6- Carl Everett/Ross Gload (RF) 7- Joe Crede (3B) 8- Jamie Burke © 9- Omar Visquel (SS)

I don't know, out of everyone who was called up in September, I thought Baj was the least impressive
-
nope, but why should we look down upon them. How much better are we? I always find it funny when non-playoff teams all of a sudden become cocky.
-
I wouldn't go after Mike Lowell. I think he's a great player (nice glove and bat) but I would spend the money on a shortstop, a starter, and a closer. Give Crede the job and see what he does with it. This is his last year though. it's put up or shut up for him. No more excuses.
-
Thats hilarious! We have White Sox fans looking down at the Brewers. Priceless.
-
yeah, I had mentioned this already in Chisoxfn's recent lineup blog. He is definitely a great option and a "so-called" Ozzie grinder.
-
Of course Furcal would be #1 on everyones list but I just can't see the Braves getting rid of him. We would have to give up too much. Visquel looks like a cheaper option for the next season or two until the Soc could find a young talent through either the minors, a trade, or free agency.

Thoma snor Bagwell should be in.
