  1. Yeah, there are some similarities between Santana and Cotts, but I don't think he'll ever be as dominat as Johan. The key for Neal is going to be his control, if he could throw strikes, he's going to be a successfull pitcher quicker then many think. When you watch him go from his changeup to his fastball,; hitters couldn't touch it. But when he goes fastball to changeup, hitters get a hold of him. I still would like to see Cotts go to the bullpen next season and stay comfortable there. Then if we're out of it at the end of the season, i'd give him a chance to set him up for 2006. I think thats the year you'll see him starting every 5 days. This is all dependent on the White Sox either signing or acquiring (via trade) an established starting pitcher. If they don't, then maybe we should consider Neal in the rotation. But if I had my choice, i'd take radke over him for next year.
  2. I was thinking either 3 or 4 years, both are options. But I do think its important to sign Radke. He completely stabalizes the rotation.
  3. OK, i've made a descion and I guess most of you will like it. It wasn't really what I wanted to do, but this isn't for me, its for the people who are anxious to vote and be a part of this thing. The Soxtalk Awards have been postponed until November. Probably the week before Thanksgiving. I know it will occur on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as it was originally. I've made this decsion upon poster's request. i will not though, spread the awards out. i feel they will be best if kept together so that they will maintain a sort of awards spectacular. Thank You for your patience, Butter
  4. I agree with most of what you said Chisoxfn. I don't agree though with you wanting to bring Cotts into the rotation. He has to get comfortable in the bullpen, befor he can become a starter. Eventually he'll be in the rotation, but the time is not now. I would love to get someone like Joel Pineiro (pending he's healthy), but I wouldn't want Jerome Williams, I would instead take Lowry. I agree, Konerko/lee will bring us a young pitcher and I think an addtional prospect. I could see us though trading either Diaz, Grilli, Stewart, or Munoz in a package with either Lee/Konerko. That leaves an empty spot in the rotation that the White Sox won't be willing to give to a youngster. If they are able to get a young pitcher who is ready, you could see him in the 5, but I don't think so. I believe the Sox would love to have Contreras as their #4 starter instead, so they will go after someone in the FA market. Carl Pavano, Odalis Perez, Jaret Wright, and Pedro Marinez are the hot names out there, but everyone passes on Radke. Thats where the Sox could make their move and goa fter him. I could see them offering him as much as about a 4 year, 26 million dollar deal. There is no way the twins would match it and the Sox could be in luck. Radke would be a great fit in the #2 or #3 spot in the rotation. As much as I would like to see the rotation get even younger, I don't see the goody young pitchers wanting to come to the southside of Chicago anytime soon. That, I think is a realistic option and conclusion tot he offseason (starting pitching wise) for the Sox. The Rotation Mark Buehrle Freddy Garcia Brad Radke Jose Contreras Jon Garland
  5. The problem is that Everett is making too much to sit on the bench. If the White Sox were actually interested in Delucci, i think you could see Lee in ST, get some time in RF. He has been great the last two years and his arm strength has gotten much better. I don't believe that they would want Everett nor Dellucci to play fully in RF. Lee is the only other option. (Rowand can't move from CF, unless we get another one). Everett is also horrible in CF. I like Delucci and think he can be a real "grinder" adn an Ozzie favorite. I also like Counsell, he really knows how too steal a base and can hit at the top of the order. His average has been down but it might come back up in the AL. Facing guys like O.Perez and Jason Schmidt didn't exactly help his cause. In the AL Central, he would only have to face Santana. Marrero is tough to get but I think its imperative. I also like the addition of Visquel. I would put him at SS and Willie at 2B. Maybe Visquel can teach him how to steal. You never know. Then you combine a plished vet with a nice young talent who needs some direction. It could be a nice young fit. he could also help Uribe at SS, and of course can be solid in the 2 hole. I'd really like to see Konerko gone for a good young pitcher who has been in the Majors, and a Prospect.
  6. Yes it's true, the White Sox are going to need some changes in that lineup and I expect them to take place. I don't expect, however, to get expensive, big-named players (i.e. Beltran, Pierre). The scouting team will ahve to work long and hard, and find some cheap, no named players who can get the job done. What I mean by that is playaers who can do the litte things; players who can play solid defense, guys who can hit either lefty or from both sides of the plate, players who hit with men on base, and guys who have discipline and take pitches. They need to find some guys who can contribute in different ways and provide something tot he team that we don't have. A perfect example for me, was the Twins picking up Henry Blanco. Now this guy can't hit a lick but he is an unbelievable defensive catcher. He calls great games and throws out a ton of runners trying to steal. He blocks everything in the dirt and has a very nice CERA. Blanco is a productive and valuable player to have on your team; even though he barely hits .200. I would love to have Henry Blanco next season but the Twins will most likely pick up his option for next season. Its imperative that the team find players like this, because without them, we are still a 2nd place team. The White Sox have to let Magglio ordonez, Jose Valentin, Roberto Alomar, and Sandy Alomar Jr. go. There are some players that I would love to see the White Sox go after and most of them are cheap. David Dellucci- He is aplayer who will come cheap. He hit decent last season, but he will have to break away from his swing-for-the fences mentality that he picked up in Texas. In 2003, he stole 12 bases and was not caught once. Dellucci has always been solid in the field and can make some spectacular plays. he hits from the left side, which is also good off the bench. He comes to play everyday and gives 100 %, he hustles his butt off and I think would be considered a "grinder". Craig Counsell Craig is now up their in age, but again hits lefty and playes utility. His average stooped down the last couple of years, but going to the AL should help some. Counsell ahs alays been good in the field and a presence in the clubhouse. Counsell definitely knows how to steal a base and rarely gets caught. I doubt Milwaukee would even think about picking up his option for next season and will make much less on the FA market. Eli Marrero Eli is a versatile player who can play the corners in the OF, as well as 1B. If Konerko is dealt, then Ross Gload will probably be named the starter. He would need a nice insurance policy behind him. Marrero is jut that. I would love to acquire him in a trade. he hit .320 this season off the bench and is an estavlished major leaguer. The only problem is that he makes too much money to come off the bench, especially since our starter in fronto of him would be making league minimum. Its players like this who can help this team with its depth and maybe develop into starters during the season. They are grinders who do everything Ozzie wants. it shouldn't be too hard to acquire them either.
  7. Yeah Dan, I'm trying to ruin the site because I really hate posting here, i guess I should leave and never come back.
  8. now go into the Olerud thread and see how mr. zero and someone else are going at it. The thread had to be closed by southsider. Things are changing on here, I know I'm not crazy on that.
  9. OK, steff, show me the written documents about Frank. You say they're well documented, so I'm sure you wiould be able to find them on the internet. If you can, then I'll give up my argument right now and bow down to you.
  10. Steff, I just want you to prove he didn't say it. You can't, so your in no position to say anything.
  11. I did PM an admin (not naming who) but they have yet to respond. (wonder why?)
  12. Steff, your missing the whole point, you lose respect for someone after on epost. Thats pretty bad. There is now ay to prove that he said it. I heard it from Hawk. Can you find 1 article that mentions that Tjomas said the same thing a year ago? No, but most people on here heard that and regard it as a fact. it sthe same with Konerko. You have no right to judge and take sides when you don't know yourself. Prove me wrong, and then I'll agree with you. But you can't, so your in no position to judge. I didn't post this thing to go after the admin's, frankly it doesn't matter to me what they think of it. I posted it for the people who are abused on here.
  13. We already know Everett will pick up his option and Politte already did. So with them signed what is our payroll rightn now with all of our potential free agents excluded from the list (i.e. Ordonez, Valentin, the alomar's)
  14. I know right, that thread proved my point to a certain degree. It wasn't a full out attack like I had posted about but still. I mean I asked a simple question on whether the sox would sign Olerud and they refused to answer it. Instead they ganged up like the wolves they are and started nit-picking everything about the backround information. It's pretty obvious that there have been talks about about trading Lee or Konerko through the medai and these boards and it seems that Konerko would make the most sense, and thats what I posted. But instead of giving their input on Olerud, they decided to attack me about my statement on Konerko. I didn't ask them on their advise on that piece of info because frankly I don't care what they think on that, I asked them about Olerud. it's almost as if its impossible to post on here without being questioned and attacked.
  15. I didn't mean that in a negative way, i meant everyone who has the same opinion as him on keeping the core of the white sox.
  16. I don't get it Greg and everyone like you, Konerko is a piece of the core of this team that has lost year in and year out, it seems as though Paul Konerko isn't winning us anything, so who the hell cares whether he stays or goes. if it was possible, I would trade the whole team away and completely start over. It's not working with these guys so lets turn a new page. At least Carlos is a guy who can hit for power, hit for average, drive in runs, get on base, and steal occasionaly. Konerko hits home runs and walks sometimes. Lee is the only one I would keep because he can do all that. Wheter you guys want to do it or not, its time to turn over a new leaf with this team.
  17. If I was the General Manager, How many playoff appearances would I make? NONE So what would be the difference between me and Kenny Williams? Combined we would have a total of 0 Playoff appearances during our regime. Thats pretty sad. I still believe that Konerko would have the slight edge in trade value because of his 40 HR's and because its very hard to find a good defensive 1B. Either way though, the difference between the two's trade values in miniscule.
  18. but they were a couple of months apart Anyway, If you don't think that either Lee of Konerko will be traded your crazy, if you ask members of Soxtalk, every 9 out of 10 will say yes that one of them will eb traded. I believe it will be Konerko.
  19. They say he is the front-runner to be traded right now, but I just can't see them getting rid of the younger of the 2
  20. I'm interested to hear everyone's input on my idea for a trade with Aneheim. I think we may be getting ripped off on it thugh. How about Washburn and Ramon Ortiz?
  21. Think aboutm it, we know Lee or konerko is going to be traded, but when it comes down to it, Konerko right now, has more value, plus he has a quality player behind him to take over.
  22. I'm still speechless at the though of trading Caballo instead of Konerko. Konerko hit 41 HR's this year, he's almost thirty, and he could bring us back a top flight starter, and a pretty nice prospect. Carlos, i think has been pretty clutch and has been our most consistent player. he's younger and has much more talent then Konerko. it makes no sense. I do like the idea of giving Willie another shot. I don't understand why ozzie is so down on Willie, he hit .268 last year and led the team in SB's. He's still young and will only get better. Stop hating on Willie.
  23. I'm pretty sure John Olerud is availible as a free agent. With Paul Konerko all but traded and Ross Gload probably takeing over, what are the chances the Sox try to bring in Olerud as insurance in case Gload falters in a starting role. Olerud's price might be higher now that he has been good with NY, but I don't think the Yankees will resign him. They have Giambi, and Tony Clark will be there at a cheaper price. The other guy I though of for insurance for Gload was Eli Marrero, I know he is a free agent and could be good as a situational player.
  24. Like I said, I'm not some kid on here who gets all sensitive, I've been exposed to the real world and all its coldness and cruelty, but thats life. Its somethings that contiuesly happen that tick you off, and you snap. P.S. What actually happen to Brando and Cerb?
