Why are they bastards? Because they're better then us? I hope they do celebrate when the white sox are there. Give them a little vision of what winning and playing with heart looks like. The Minnesota Twins are better then the Chicago White Sox in every single way and to call them bastards is pretty shallow.

I already talked to Chisoxfn about how we are going to set this thing up. He is going to set-up a sub-forum so that you can click on a Soxtalk Awards link and automatically have access to vote for every category on one page. It makes things a lot easier for the voters. Right now it looks as if the awards will be held for 3 days to maximize the amount voters we can have on the website. After the 3 days, the link to Soxtalk Awards will be taken off the board to prevent voting after the "polls close" Anyway, I'll take down all of the winners and the percentages of each nominee for all the categories and present them the next day on the web site. I don't think having the plaques and mailing them to USCF is such a good idea. If your going to spend money on these things, at least you should have the assurance that they will be wanted or taken care of. i don't think any millionaire white sox player really gives a crap about a plaque from a message board. But tha's just me.

I tried to put the most realistic ones in there. I pray to god that KW doesn't go after Russ ortiz, Odalis Perez, or Carl pavano. it would be like having another Freddy Garcia. Don't get me wrong, I like freddy, but his #'s since he got here just stink. He is a fly-ball pitcher in a home-run park. It just hasn't worked. I know I don't give my location in my profile but I am near New York. When Eric Milton was coming up, it looked like no one had the talent and pitching skills that he had. Remeber last season when he was hurt the whole season. he came back in September and dominated. I like Derek Lowe as a ground-ball pitcher and I think he might be a good option. I also want Brad Radke but it seems unlikely that he would go from Minnesota to the White Sox.

I don't know about you, but I still believe that our Starting Rotation is very shaky for next year. I think we should let Maggs go in the offseason, no matter whether he wants to sign a 1 year deal or not. It's time to turn the page with him. But as for pitching, I still don't believe Freddy Garcia is an ace and If your counting on him to be one, then your probably going to be disappointed. Mark Buehrle is a bit closer to an ace, but I am still not comfortable with him as one either. Contreras scares me the most, he has been eratic in Chicago and he was terrible in NY. he is probably about 35 or 36 for his real age, and I'd ather have him as my #4 starter. There I would welcome his eraticness. Garland could be a good #5 and I think thats where he should be next year. We aere gonna have to get a free agent pitcher or trade for one. This rotation has to be one that can lead us into the playoffs. Possible free agent options: Eric Milton: I know most of you hate him, but the fact is that he is a great pitcher and this is an off-year. At times he can be a dominant southpaw and I would love to have him in my rotation. Carl Pavano: His #'s are great, there is no denying that, but I'm not really a Carl Pavano fan. He has never had a year like this and It might be hard to match. Going to the AL should hurt him also. He will also be priced way to high for the Chisox. Pedro Martinez: He's great but he's old and expensive; out of the question. Brad Radke: Even though he is up in age, i think he would be perfect for this team. His price might be high in the offseason but it might be worth it. Derek Lowe: I think we can all agree that he is not wanted in Chicago. Jaret Wright: Unless he is with Lee Mazzone, he is of no use. David Wells: I know there might be some bad blood between Chicago and him, but he can still pitch and give you quality starts.

I don't know what to make of this one

Thanks dude

I'd like a cool picture of Peter Warrick of the Cincinnati Bengals with the top saying "P-DUB"
-
yeah, we could do the favorites, lets see what some other people think.
-
I was thinking 5 nominees for each category but lets see what some other people think.

The only negative category I would have would probably be "Biggest Dissapointment of the year" I don't think thats too bad considering the whole year has been one gigantic dissapointment. Sorry I wasn't here, I was out of town for awhile. Here is my preliminary Soxtalk Categories: 1) "Chicago White Sox MVP" 2) "Breakthrough White Sox Player" 3) " Best White Sox Hitter" 4) "Best White Sox Starting Pitcher" 5) " Best White Sox Relief Man" 6) " Biggest Surprise Performer" 7) " Biggest White Sox Dissapointment" 8) " Best White Sox Acquisition of the Year" 9) " Best White Sox Play of the Year" 10) " Best Game of the Year" 11) "Most Important White Sox Moment" 12) " Overall White Sox Grade" Thats what I have come up with so far but I want to leave the categories at 12 as a maximum. I'm also going to need help from you guys remembering the best play, best moments, and the dates for the best game.

What do you want the bullpen to look like?
Butter Parque replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, first if you want to talk about injury, Hoffman has been healthy all year, Billy Wagner on the other hand has not. H ehas been on the DL twice which is not good. I don't think Philly will pick up his option at that cost but he still has that injury concern. Second, I put Munoz in there because I think he has good potential with that nice curveball of his. He has pitched well since we brought him up and he looks a lot better then he did against Montreal. H ehas to improve his control though. I want to keep Politte because I like the fact of having a veteran righty coming out of the pen in middle relief and throwing gas. The only other righty who throws hard is Adkins and he is still very young and inconsistent. politte is going to come back cheap, so why not. If not him, then I guess we would go with Felix Diaz who I like out of the pen but his stuff is just not that good. I definitely don't want Baj in there yet. He should go to Charlotte for another year maybe, right now he is just a liability. (Sorry Baj, I know your a poster here at Soxtalk!) The pen looks a little young and inexperienced the way I have it but with a solid veteran closer like Hoffman, he would be the glue that would hold the pen together. -

Face the facts, they'll never spend that much on Benitez and Hoffman is better then troy Percival -
I think its important and necessary to have 7 pitchers out of the pen. LRP- Neal Cotts- LH- He's going to have to improve before he becomes a starter. MRP- Jon Adkins- RH- He throws smoke, but is sometimes erratic. They should increase his role though. MRP- Cliff Politte- RH- Overall he has been fine, but there are times where he looks like the worst pitcher on earth. MRP- Arnie Munoz- LH- Lets face it, he's not a starter, but he could be a decent Lefty out of the pen if he gets some more control of that fastball and curve. RHS- Shingo Takatsu- RH- He throws junk, but hopefully its good enough to lock down the set up role. LHS- Damaso Marte- LH- He has to have abetter year or the bullpen is nothing. His control at times has been as bad as I have ever seen it, especially against lefties. Closer- Trevor Hoffman- RH- Armando benitez will expect too much money. SD has a club option on him, but they won't pick it up( Otsuka will close next year) Hoofman is the logical choice. My first choice would be Mota though. If he doesn't work out then you put him in set-up and Shingo to close.

I'm open to anyone and everyone helping by giving ideas for categories, nominees and stuff like that.
-
thats cool
-
Chisoxfn, since your an admin, can you put a thread allowing others to give ideas about nominees and categories in the important topics list. That would be greatly appreciated.
-
All right, the awards will be held the day after the season ends for the White Sox. Voters will have 3 days to cast their votes. At the end of the 3 days, we'll see who has won the awards from the polls. If someone can please get an administarator to put up a thread for ideas on categories and nominations, that would be great. I'll pick out about 8 to 10 categories and have 5 nominees for each. I think it would be pretty fun to do and we could call it "The First Annual Soxtalk Awards". PLEASE RESPOND
-
I propose we give out some Soxtalk awards to the White Sox players. We should vote on every category like sox mvp, best pitcher, most valuable bench player. Things like that. If they have already been invented, please be compassionate, I started viewing these boards religiously only right after last season.
-
I read through these boards everyday and I have come to the conclusion that there are still actually some people on Soxtalk who want Jose Valentin in a White Sox uniform next season. I think this claim is absolutely ludicrous. If there is one player I don't want to see next season, it is Jose Valentin. It snice that you can have a SS hit 25 HR's everyear, but it still doesn't matter. This guy's average just keeps dropping lower and lower every single season and I think most Sox fans have had enough. What will it take for some to stop caring about this guy. Will it be when his average finally drops below the Mendoza Line? I don't get it, this guy is the typical White Sox player over the last 4 years. Jose Valentin can't hit for average, he can't field to save his life and he has below average speed for a SS. The only thing he gives you is power. Well, the white sox don't need power anymore, we need grinders and Ozzieball players. We need someone who can hit in the clutch and hit for average. The 2005 White Sox should not include Jose Valentin!

Felix Diaz- Well he's already up, so I guess he doesn't count. Baj- He's not on the 40-Man Roster, but he deserves to be. Kelly Dransfeldt- I liked him in his first stint with the big club Wilson Valdez- He's lighting it up in Charlotte, lets see if he can do it in Chicago Ruddy Yan- Lets see if he can steal a base, unlike someone we all know. Plus he can get some reps at the plate. Josh Stewart- I know this guy has major league ability, just give him more innings to show it. Jason Grilli- If Freddy doesn't go on the DL, he should stay up anyway. David Sanders- I think he can get some lefties out in this league Jose Santiago-Hopefully he does better then Jose Paniagua Mario Valenzuela- Everyear he hits well in ST, give him a shot Reggie Taylor- He could be a backup OF next year Those Left Out Arnie Munoz- The ay he is pitching in AAA, he doesn't even deserve to be in the organization. There has to be some punishment for his pitching. Bobby Smith- Lets let the younger guys get a chance. Ryan Hankins- I don't see major league ability in this guy. Ryan Meaux- He's not ready to be with the big club. Bryant Nelson- Maybe he can make it out of ST next year. Fransisco Campos- he is definitely not ready yet *They won't bring all these guys up, but they should.

Some compare Alan Keyes to Hillary Clinton. The difference being is that Hillary Clinton is a do-nothing, sweet-talking, avoid tought questioning fool. Alan Keyes is actually intelligent with strong political beliefs. i don't agree with his slave reparations opinion though. I believe that no one should get slave reparations or deductions on their income taxes for something that never happened to them.

It's true about Nader, but I'm sure nobody really cares.

I've alwayes liked Alan Keyes and I'm a lifetime republican.

I vote for George W. Bush. John Kerry is a fickle idiot.
