  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) Don't know if you're serious or not but that would still be a HR. Really? Because catching a ball in foul territory is an out... even in the stands. Edit: ah. Falling, diving is ok but standing isnt? Thats weird. What if he stood on top of the fence and jumped over while catching it? Lol
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) I remember Ivan Calderon doing that in old Tigers Stadium a long time ago... At that point I dont know why he didnt jump over and catch it in the bullpen. He had time.
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) Come on Viciedo...dont swing at that Its pretty funny seeing Viciedo's approach immediately following the Professor.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) Mark Kirk, R-Illinois comes out in support of marriage equality http://www.seattlepi.com/news/article/Repu...-he-4403224.php the dominoes are falling. only a matter of time now
  5. Butlers getting fat. Starting to look Princely.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 06:53 AM) Indeed. The law doesn't stop inquiry or legal challenge, but it does prevent the courts from halting while those things happen. Haha well yeah that's the one way to look at it. Lol The other way is that it allows them to keep producing and selling GMO foods even if a lawsuit regarding their safety is brought to the table. How well would that fare in the pharamcuetical world? Here, just read: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/mpa.asp That'll clear up why this is no bueno. Takes away the courts power which is a slippery slope and a bad precedent.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) Everything has been genetically modified for a century plus -- so what specifically has you concerned? are you talking about genetically engineered? ie: hybridization and cross-breeding? because THAT has been done for a century plus. Genetically MODIFYING organisms has only been done in the last few decades EDIT: more than that, though - the point isn't whether or not we think GMOs will be harmful, the point is that this law offers protection against liability if it someday turns out they ARE harmful. that's a REALLY bad precedent to be setting.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) There was a discussion about this tucked into the Financial News thread should i respond here or there? because methinks you don't have a great understanding of nutrition if you're not worried about the longterm effects of GMOs
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) That's my point. This didn't happen just during the 00's, so just reflexively blaming those wars, again, isn't accurate, no matter how convenient the narrative is. Well yeah, but 10 years ago they were 11 or 12 years away from having the capability to successfully weaponize nukes that could reach US targets. Now they're ... what? One year? You dont think this would have been easier to deal with a decade ago? Same question re: Iran.
  10. While the whole nation is putting pink and red bands on their facebook pages, things like this happen while no one is paying attention. Obama's done some great things and some really questionable things, but if you think the timing of this is accidental, well... go watch The West Wing. The White House doesn't want liberals to notice that they're hiking organic produce costs and protecting GMO-supporting corporations from ANY liability should their products some day be proven to cause ill effects. Keep in mind, GMOs don't get tested before hitting the market. Food for thought. http://on.rt.com/m83efw
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) We were in decade long wars during the 90's? Um... see when i said the last 10 years I assumed that meant back to 2003, maybe as far back as 2000 if you want.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 05:31 PM) Their nuclear program goes back to the 50's and 60's, due to the Soviets. Their nuclear programs recent "strides" were thanks to buying it from AQ Khan and Pakistan. It is the same set of "strides" that Iran made. Cash. exactly - and both countries made those strides while we were embroiled in two decade long wars
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 05:15 PM) More like 60, but who is counting... no you're right, but obviously they've made big strides with their nuclear program in recent years while we were busy fighting two wars
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) I totally agree. We should have been on this problem in 2002 and 2003 when they reprocessed those fuel rods, that was the key time, we stopped negotiating with them then, declared that negotiations were just aiding the enemy, and then turned our backs to deal with a different, um, issue. If we'd kept the fuel rods under seal, as they were until October, 2002 when the monitoring equipment was removed, we wouldn't have this problem right now. We're still paying for that lunacy 10 years later. this in spades.
  15. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Yea totally, what tragedies have befallen us at the hands of North Korea in the past 10 years. If only things had been different, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN PEACE. uh, what? if we'd paid any attention to NK the last 10 years, we potentially wouldn't be at the point we're at now.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 09:14 AM) Um...should I be checking CNN to see if Los Angeles still exists? If it does...it could be worse. so we should just let him play his games and signal to leaders everywhere that if you just act bats*** crazy enough you'll get everything you ask for?
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 01:20 PM) A sniper bullet would be cheaper. agreed.
  18. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) Alright so today I start work in Downtown Chicago, about a block away from Marina City, but I have a bit of a problem. I work till 11pm and the next train to Indiana doesn't leave until 1245a....As a guy just starting work I obviously have no money yet. I'm looking for suggestions on what, if anything, I can do for an hour and a half to kill time with no money. I'd really hate to sit at the train station for that long, esp considering I don't have a smart phone or anything yet. I can probably come up with 5 bucks, can I go get 1 drink somewhere and baby sit it for an hour or so? Any other suggestions?? I'm an indiana boy so I dont really have any friends in the city. f*** around on your phone? download the kindle app and read a book? bring a book? plenty of options...
  19. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) They are re-naming US Cellular field to Reinsdorf Field. Since US Cellular is leaving the Chicago market in June a naming change makes sense that's not big enough for a joint announcement... fields change names all the time
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 08:23 AM) The US just ran exercises of dry nuclear runs... http://www.wsbt.com/news/sns-rt-us-korea-n...0,3731014.story good. that oughta shut those f***ers up. yeah you can shoot missiles at us, but our bombers are already AT YOUR HOUSE. you wouldn't be alive to see your nukes hit.
  21. officially decided to take the plunge and study to become a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant. yeah. not a huge job market there, but I plan to follow it with my CPT - that should help a bit.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) a better one from Olson: That guy is a supreme court justice. mind-boggling
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 09:54 PM) We can just trade them Dye That would be a steal. Im in.
