Sox looking at Harang/Lilly/Capuano
Reddy replied to The Ultimate Champion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
as an avid fantasy baseball-er, there's no one i liked more at the end of drafts than Ted Lilly. gimme that WHIP any day of the week. I could get behind Cap too. Harang has never been good - even in Petco... that's telling you something -

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 08:14 PM) An Ipswitch, Ma., middle-school principal has canceled his school’s annual honors assembly because it was too upsetting for some students. Boston’s Fox affiliate reports the explanation of Principal David Fabrizio, the man at the center of the silliness: “Honors Night, which can be a great sense of pride for the recipients’ families, can also be devastating to a child who has worked extremely hard in a difficult class but who, despite growth, has not been able to maintain a high grade point average.” Fabrizio also justified his decision by claiming it was unfair to reward good grades — which can be be influenced by the home environment and supportive parents — because not all of students have access to equal amounts of academic and emotional support. Goddamnit America.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) Why? Why is it our job to blow a bunch of money, resources and possibly American lives on these people? If its violating international law get the French or British to go fix it. They're infinitely more responsible for the f***upedness of Syria than we are. For once I agree with you

or what if it's this: pitchers are inconsistent. all pitchers. unless you're the best of the best (top 5-10 pitchers in the league) you're going to have big bouts of inconsistency. that doesn't make you a "mental midget". it makes you a normal MLB pitcher.

Danks is a high 3's upside pitcher. end of story. he's a good decent pitcher and as a #3 he's great. is he worth the money? doubtful... but at this point lets stop b****ing about the past and cross our fingers can come back and be somewhat valuable.

QUOTE (typewritermender @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 09:33 AM) Hey all, I'm playing in an auction draft points league with 3 keepers. First year (this year), you get to keep 3 players at no inflation from their draft price. I'm def. keeping Chris Sale ($5) and Edwin Encarnacion ($1) and am having tons of trouble picking my 3rd keeper. Figured I'd get some second opinions. Should I keep: Verlander ($27) Darvish ($9) or Chapman ($1) I go hard after pitching, and will probably try to get Verlander back if I let him go (he's currently ranked at $29 for this year's draft, and my league tends to overspend on top players, so he might go for more like $33). It's seeming more and more likely that chapman will be a closer, so I'm starting to lean away from him. What do you guys think? Anyone else struggling with fantasy offseason stuff feel free to post. pitching is overrated, as it's incredibly deep. no sluggers?? and my credibility is that I'm awesome at fantasy baseball. like... seriously good at it. I've won my serious keeper league 2 of the last 4 years and was third the other two. It's H2H, and even though my record last year was something like 30 games ahead of the pack, got unlucky in the playoffs. point is, I never keep pitching. Pretty much ever. I'm ditching Cain, Bumgarner AND Sale.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 16, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) McEwing and Parent working with Beckham at SS. He's air mailing 1st quite a bit but looks solid turning 2. Interesting. there's no way in which that's good news for Gordon... looks like someone's got an idea that he'll be more effective as a utility guy.

i went to Loyola Chicago - Jesuits are awesome. They get sloshed on wine and party with students. They're typically among the more liberal of catholics... although for some reason this guy isn't. laaaame.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) Um, how far back are we going? 2008-2016 D 2000-2008 R 1992-2000 D 1980-1992 R 1976-1980 D 1968-1976 R 1960-1968 D Basically, the rule winds up being...if you stop counting at a year when an R won, they have more years, if yous top counting when a D won, it's even. Since 1960, it'll be 28 years for each party by the time 2016 comes around. I wasn't going further back than Reagan. Either way, the reason we're where we are can't be blamed on one party or the other.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 04:08 AM) Dont get me wrong, I love this complete inability to do anything at all and hope it never ends, but to say were living in a functional democracy is highly debatable. Anywhoooo You clamor for more taxation, more government programs, more legislation, fully subscribing to the "SOMETHING MUST BE DONE" chaos/panic philosophy to legislation. In vacuum it actually makes sense, I understand where you're coming from. But what blows my is that every time our government grows it just asks the market to handle the logistics in exchange for astronomical taxpayer funded subsidies and state-approved monopolies. Sure there's an accompanying bureaucracy to feign oversight and enforce the arbitrary regulations built to entrench the monopolies, this is government were talking about, but mostly its taxpayers being forced to pay private enterprise for stuff. Its not just the healthcare bill, that was just the latest, most brazen move. They've been doing it for decades now with the military and its huge government contracts, and the justice system is increasingly being subsidized towards private companies. You want government to grow because you think it'll lead to a more even wealth distribution but there's this clear as day f***ing reality that all it really does is loot middle class tax dollars to feed this monster. you're aware that over the last few decades there have been more republican than democratic presidents yes?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) So you see Alex Rios playing well again, Tyler Flowers matching AJ's 2012 output, Paul Konerko staying healthy, and Adam Dunn hitting 40 jacks? This offense is going to be horrific. Pretty much everything went right last year and they were still painful. i remember another horrific offense that did quite well about 8 years ago... god it's been that long.

I want to stay away from that.'" As I mentioned earlier, I do not want to engage you in any discussion here, and I won't, but it is interesting that you want to engage me. Sorry dude, you are on my permanent ignore list. you can leave any time. please do. you won't be missed.

I'm adopting the Primal Blueprint Fitness plan for a while to see what I think. I'm eating paleo right now (yeah the vegan thing went away because I went gluten free to test myself for sensitivities, and now my reflux is all but gone....... and vegan + gluten free is f***ing impossible) Just did 6x50 yard jog followed by six 50 yard sprints at 100% effort with time in between to get my breathing back to normal. Sounds like nothing - but that's an AWESOME workout. And apparently sprinting can increase your cardio endurance just as well as... well... running a bunch of miles. Pretty neat.

the padres would be smart to deal headley when he's at the peak of his value. the white sox would be stupid to buy into it

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) I don't know where the President himself stands on this, but I'll bet you that the air force and the CIA absolutely love this program. It gives them a new toy where they're able to flex their muscles in the military conflict, and it allows them a degree of safety and detachment that they never had before. I would bet that there are some very powerful people in those organizations who would be very, very angry if the President started supporting restrictions on the program. Agreed totally on the need for oversight from my side though. i think this is an example of the president listening to the joint chiefs a little too well... he's giving them exactly what they're asking for without considering the ramifications. but if he IS considering the ramifications... then... well... suddenly the hitler moniker may be more appropriate than I ever thought... lol

for the first and last time, I agree with Rand Paul. Obama and his drones are frankly disturbing as hell.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 6, 2013 -> 10:00 AM) Small business owners don't pocket enough to worry about whether they should be giving their employees a little bit more. Most barely make a living of their own. I agree with you the problem is fixing the income gap of the very top. But unfortunately liberals have a mindset that anyone with a little bit of money or anyone that runs a business is super mega rich and can afford to give their much more deserving employees more money/benefits. don't you think that those small business owners would be making more money if their stock didn't cost quite so much and they could make more profit? And why does it cost so much? because big oil tycoons are charging record prices while reaping record profits, and your party wants to keep it that way. YOUR party is screwing small business owners RIGHT NOW - which is worse than this hypothetical screwing that the Dems would do.
